@@rvdnagel1963 man, I'm 19 years old, I primarily listen to metal and punk music but I started getting into frank zappa's music recently and it's just on another level. Out of all the guitar players I listen to, even the shredders and stuff, zappa tops them all. His music is just so abnormal and amazing. So I guess I'm one of the few of my generation that loves frank zappa😂

I think the whole family does a pretty good job taking care of the legacy. There’s a new live tape album they are releasing soon! It’s up on Apple Music already with only one song available yet. They release at least one big thing every year. I think they all are great, but dweezil has had a tough time with his family PLAYING his fathers stuff.

I, with my daughter and a few friends, took one of his master classes from him the day of his show (which I went to). He's a great teacher; extremely patient. It wasn't long, but he had some really cool ideas to share to open up our own playing. In the meet and greet after, he was really kind. His father has been creeping up the top 100 greatest guitarists list. I think Dweezil belongs on that list. I've seen him live 4 times and he just blows me away.

Thanks Dweezil. I’ll have to track more of these down somewhere. Pleeeeez do more of these! I beg you. Your dads technique is incredibly unique to me. What do you get when you give a talented drummer a guitar? - Shut up and Play Yer Guitar. I’ve replicated the tone these past few weeks using an FM3. So I’m crazy enjoying getting those melodies under my fingers. But the technique is throwing a bit of a wrench into a lot of the muscle memory. Its like sneaking some kind of Mongolian dance move into a Tango.

He and Moonunit who absolutely adored her dad got screwed out of their inheritance by their mom Franks money going to their two other untalented siblings. Yeah, they were great, but my favourite was a very short and sweet one on Cosmic Debris and the one that creeps up from behind on Stuff Up The Cracks; it's amazing how you can do that, all I can do is that scale run on Mud Shark, when I got that I was surprised at how easy it is, except for the second bit. 👍🏻 I couldn't get enough of Zoot...until Sleep Dirt and Studio Tan.

First chord is a Amaj7#11, lydian chord

In jazz short hand we might just call it A Lydian :-)

... or for those us that are only semi-literate in music-theory, it's an "Amaj7th, with an added flatted 5th".☺

      @@charliebe28 Sus4 would indicate a perfect 4th. Maj.7 Lydian indicates an augmented 4th or 11th :-)

      @@GusFogle:
~ _That_ is why I included the "only semi-literate in music-theory" phrase in my comment. Unfortunately, I don't have an "advanced" level of knowledge in music-theory - , so talk of "Lydian" or "modes", etc., tends to be largely beyond my routine understanding. What I _do_ know, is that the notes A.C#,E, and Ab comprise an Amaj7th chord - , and a D note in the key of Amaj is the sus4th. For my purposes, that system "works well-enough for me"; and for-that-matter, it would probably be decently comprehensible for other musicians with only limited knowledge of "theory". Finally, thanks for your reply, anyway.

@@charliebe28 No worries, and your system is fine, other than it does NOT describe the chord Dweezil played in this video lol. You are correct that the note D would be the 4th in the key of A, however Dweezil plays a D#, which is what makes the chord Lydian (just a major scale with a raised 4th). Amaj7sus4 would be spelled A D E G# whereas the chord Dweezil plays is A C# D# G# (although he inverts it for an easier voicing on guitar). So, a similar chord, but not quite the same.
