I really appreciate the VR devs that include as much physically interactive stuff as possible in their games. It's what makes VR different and special. It's really satisfying on a basic level to predict an interaction with an object before you actually do it because it's intuitive. Give me all the pushable buttons, switches, levers, valves, door handles, and rewiring cables you can. It's just fun.
Take my sub dude I agree with everything you said here Also thank you for not holding your microphone and having per-word subtitles those make me angry >:(
Having been in televsion production a long time ago, I recognize your effort in this presentation. You did well enough I subscribed at 66 years of age. ...and VR is incredible in so many potential dimensions!...
Capcom is one of the few examples of game companies that put love and care, and meticulous detail into their modern games. Resident evil 4 couldv've looked only as good as resident evil 7 and the game industry wouldve been fine with it, but Capcom decided they needed to make it the greatest and most thoughtful remake of all time instead.
the RE4 remake was very good! i think REmake is a better more cohesive work of art but i have definitely been very impressed with the RE games lately, i agree they are rare examples of AAA games with vision being developed today (although not without their issues imo)
it's such a weird in between right now like you said for vr games. It's the wild west but the hardware makes it still look all clean and pristine, its such a weird skewed mix of the two that makes it entirely unique but... homogeneous? im not quite sure if ill feel nostalgia for the vr ui designs of today or if it'll eventually get heavily rose tinted like old computer os'(even though they actively suck to use nowadays)
bro what i thought you'd have like hundreds of thousands of subscribers? with how high quality this video is i was very shocked looking at the sub and view count
I feel that unfortunately skueomorphism will go away in VR when eye tracking is more standardized. I love "analogue" settings in VR games, Rumble VR being a stronger example.
you have earned my subscription in under a minute i love this videeo ok thanks 👍 (edit: commented before you asked me to comment nice things just so you know. i'm a real one, ok?)
I think the biggest loss that came with skeuomorphism was the "hamburger" and "hotdog" menus. The fact that I won't know what a menu contains until I open it is a modern UX flaw I will always despise
Sorry, I tried to look up what those menus are but couldn’t find them. Could you please elaborate? Would love to know, as I am interested in UX design :)
@@dominicstocker5144 icons showing what was going to be in the menu, or text displaying it. As phones became the standard, developers couldn't fit text that was legible on them. Drop downs function much better on computers, these new menus were almost purpose built for portrait operating systems and applications, and they have since then been syphoned into computer UX
I totally get you, I think I'm just looking for more love and care to be put in menus in general to be more interesting/fun to navigate (as in persona 5 and 3 reload)
I think you’re mistaking skeuomorphism for the level of detail. A skeuomorph is something that resembles another thing without not necessarily sharing the same practical reason to look that way, in order to relate its purpose to that thing. Skeuomorphs arn’t really less common outside of UI layouts (which even then were very limited back then). We still use images of cameras for photo applications. Safari still uses an image of a compass to relate its purpose to navigating the web. In all of the examples you gave for games, no skeuomorphs were used back then or now.
they!!! ah!! they are different!!!! 😊THEY they are different be cause because they!! the one on the left!!!!! it's more !!!! it's more skeumorphic!!!! and!!!! >.< the one on the right!!! it's more... ! it's flat!!!!! :D did i do good
In 2d UI I dislike skeuomorphism. The clean, flat design is much nicer to me (Although some companies take it too far and begin removing detail as well which isn't as nice. Flat and clean doesnt mean no detail. Looking at you Pringles). It just looks too tacky, cluttered and inconsistent to me. But in VR, it totally makes sense like this. Because you can physically interact with it. But I still like a clean design so I think there is a medium point somewhere where we can have a skeuomorphic, interactive design that still has a clean modern look for interfaces. Oh wait, we do. Neumorphism!
the average person does not know how to use a computer, they know how to use certain apps and webpages. and even then barely. If the average person really knew how to use computers, my life would be so much less stressful.
It took me too long to realize the bookshelf in the back is a stock image
I knew something wasn't right, but it took your comment to make me examine it further.
i had no idea😂
i thought the watermark was a physical poster before i realised the entire bookshelf was an image
It’s pretty funny though

Bro WTF is your About tab?
your about tab gives schizophrenia vibes
yeah your taste in media must either be exquisite or you dont interact with anything like games or books whatsoever
the greenscreened bookshelf in the background is so funny for some reason xD
shordy throwing it back in vr and im like dam that skeuomorphism is perfect
fr fr
Bro the fact you used Zero Escape OSTs in this video makes me so happy. Not many people know of the series 💪
Your point about reloading is one of the funnest parts of playing a new VR shooter, it's a journey of discovery, especially if you skip the tutorial 😆

Thanks for the vocab lesson. I had no idea what that word meant!

I find all the obnoxiously obvious stock photo and Getty image watermarks unusually funny

real
The prime bg music, you sir are for sure one of the bros
Great quality video! I noticed you have 672 Subscribers, glad to be nr 673!
it took me 6 minutes to notice the bookshelf wasnt real...
Good production values and audio balance for a channel with just over 1K subs, great work!

the video was realy cool :D keep making cool stuff ;)
i loved this video and i loove. the little highlights on the edge of objects. wow
very video
very like
very good job
very yes
They are different
I miss a lot of skeumorphic design concepts in my aoftware. There was a lot of tasty stuff that I missed when everything went flat.
Vr is in the Xbox 360 area
you have earned my subscription in under a minute i love this videeo ok thanks 👍

Wait a second, I just realized. That bookshelf is a greenscreen isn't it?!
Skeomorphism is cool
Great content
Thank you Internet Julian
she skeuo on my morph till i ism
First video of yours ive ever seen, and i look forward to being tricked by you again in the future!
VR is a little bit like old internet, old games when no one was playing them, or when it was shameful to be w gamer, and I love it.
I love your bookshelf
we found Big Joel's little brother!!
The reason icons have become more simple is because they are simpler, and easy to recreate if they need to make it in a higher resolution.
vacation simulator mentioned 🤯🤯
I love Skeuomorphism
very nice very lovely
love your bookshelf btw
The algorithim has blessed me again. Glad to be your 705th subscriber😊

Cool. Can't wait for a Dr. Who video.
here is a comment about how much i liked the video, here are some nice and kind words aswell:
weird watching this after I just made a vr game with skeuomorphic menus

@@dominicstocker5144 it's like the menus that are represented as 3 dots or 3 lines. They have been extremely common since 2012
@@NYANWHEEZE Thank you for the information. What was the situation before that? Was it menu bars?

I liked this video so much that I now wish to say nice things about you
silly you, thinking you can just throw in 999 ost and expect me NOT to immediately like and subscribe
I miss the aero frutiger of the 2000’s
me being a good sport: here's a comment about how much I liked the video. You are nice and lovely.
Cool videos mate :) Subscribed
i thought the thing to the right of him was a shotgun for a second
I miss vr like a motherfucker. I'm ITCHIN' to get a PSVR2 with its new PCVR adapter, I can't believe they made it into a real thing. So awesome
