    Why do we have to prepare a table of specifications for a classroom test?

      A table of specifications (TOS) is a crucial tool for developing effective classroom tests.
      A TOS serves as a blueprint for creating a meaningful and effective classroom test. It aligns the test with learning objectives, ensures comprehensive content coverage, balances cognitive levels, facilitates test construction, and enhances test validity and fairness. As per my experience in understanding and discussing my topic extensively, this TOS
      ensures the alignment of the learning objectives to the learning outcomes and facilitates the test constructions.

      Preparing a table of specifications for a classroom test ensures alignment with learning objectives, content coverage, balanced assessment, test validity and reliability, and provides a blueprint for test construction. It helps in creating a fair, comprehensive, and effective assessment tool for evaluating student learning.

      We need to prepare TOS for a classroom test to ensure that there is fairness and alignment between the items of an assessment and the content the assessment intends to assess. The TOS will serve as a guide to what topics should be included and how many items should be asked at a particular level.

      Good afternoon, ma'am! To answer your question, preparing a table of specifications for a classroom test has many functions. Some of these are:
      •It ensures that a test is valid, fair and aligned to learning objectives.
      •It highlights how the questions are distributed across different topics or skills and gives directions for a representative test development.
      •It helps to measure students’ understanding and grasp of the subject matter.
      •It creates clarity for both students and educators in regards to what the assessment is based on.

      The reason why we need to prepare the TOS for a classroom test is due to many factors.
      First. We need TOS to ensure that the test items align with the appropriate objectives of assessment.
      Second. We need to create a proper plan in the application of assessment catering all the cognitive domains.
      Third. To ensure fairness in the assessment tests done to the learners in the determination of their academic success.
      Overall nothing is more important than the TOS in the process of applying the assessment method in a classroom test in terms of balance, fairness, and alignment of objectives.

    Give the difference between the one-way, two-way, and three-way table of specifications.

      A one-way TOS is the simplest form, providing an overview of the test content by listing the topics or objectives to be covered and the number of test items associated with each. It is useful for ensuring that the test covers the major areas of the curriculum. Furthermore, a two-way TOS goes a step further by incorporating the cognitive levels of the test items. It includes columns for different cognitive levels, such as knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, and synthesis. This allows for a more balanced assessment of student abilities. Finally, a three-way TOS is the most detailed and comprehensive, incorporating both content areas and cognitive levels. It includes additional dimensions, such as different types of questions (multiple-choice, true/false, essay) or different assessment formats (written, performance, project). This provides a granular view of the test content and assessment methods.

      A one-way table of specifications is the simplest form of the table. It consists of two columns: the content areas or topics being assessed and the item distribution. This table provides a basic overview of what content areas will be covered and the types of questions that will be asked for each area.
      A two-way table of specifications shows both elements which are the subject matter and skills and the type of test format. The two-way table provides a more detailed breakdown of the content areas, cognitive levels, and their relative importance in the assessment.
      A three-way table of specifications further enhances the two-way table by indicating the specific item format to be used. The three-way table provides a comprehensive overview of the assessment, including the content areas, cognitive levels, weightage, and the number of items dedicated to each target learning outcomes.

      A one-way table of specifications contains the objective/skills and the number of items in a test. It is often used for skill-oriented subjects or for formative tests focusing in specific skills.
      A two-way table of specifications contains the subject matter and skills, type of test format and the item format recommended for use. A test blueprint is commonly set-up in a two way TOS.
      Expanded table of specifications indicates the specific item format to be used in framing the test question. It contains the subject matter/skills, the objectives and the performance/product assessment.

      A TOS with one-way orientation addresses either objectives or skills in relation to testing specific learning outcomes under common topic areas. A two-way TOS comprises the WHAT and HOW, with the latter expanded to the type of items recommended. The difference is how detailed the information presented will be; one - way grid focuses on key skills, two - way grid takes into account both the content and test format while three - way grid provides more details regarding the recommended items formats for every learning outcome.

      The one way table of specification entails the general overview of what objectives and topics are included in the assessment test, ensuring that it would align with the important areas in the curriculum.
      Moreover, the two way table of specification on the other hand differs with that in the latter, it involves the levels of cognition namely the following.
      *Knowledge
      *Comprehension
      *Application
      *Analysis
      *Synthesis
      Going further by combining the following levels in the latter version of TOS.
      Lastly, the three way table of specification, this version or way becomes more complex for it includes both content and levels of cognition where it specifies more of the small but important details in the assessment test accordingly to this three way TOS.

    What are the necessary elements in preparing the items?

    • @ClawimieCapin
      @ClawimieCapin  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The necessary elements to ensure a fair and accurate assessment are defining the learning objectives where we provide transparency towards students, to develop a Table of Specification for the weight of the content and distribution of tests, construction of an unambiguous, clear and concise test, the ethical scoring and evaluation of test results and proper and constructive feed backing.

    • @ferrerjulieann
      @ferrerjulieann 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The necessary elements in preparing the test items are the content area or subject matter being covered, the target learning outcomes or the competencies, the test format or the type of assessment to be used, and the item distribution or the number of items per learning target.

    • @medjelpagayon
      @medjelpagayon 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In preparing test items, we need to ensure that the test covers the learning outcomes that are intended and essential to be achieved. We also need to consider the type of assessment that we will be using to guarantee that the test is applied in a way that best meets the needs of the learners.

    • @johnryanramos1866
      @johnryanramos1866 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The necessary elements to be considered in preparing the items include:
      • defining transparent learning objectives,
      • creating clear and concise test questions,
      • incorporating ethical scoring practices,
      • providing constructive feedback,
      • considering the content area,
      • aligning with learning outcomes,
      • selecting an appropriate test format, and
      • distributing items based on the learning targets.

    • @Judithflores1980
      @Judithflores1980 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The necessary elements that we need to consider in preparing the the test items are the following.
      First. We need to know the objectives and learning outcomes that learners should know in order for them to be part of the assessment process.
      Second. The content to which items are distributed including the clarity or ambiguity of the question.
      Third. The unbias scoring as part of ethical and moral standard in the assessment process.
      Fourth. The selection of proper test format for given purpose of assessment.
      Fifth. The construction of proper feedbacking
      Therefore, items are carefully selected in terms of fairness, appropriateness, purpose, and the learning outcomes of the assessment process.
