    I have a 6week old nursing/bottle baby that has come down pneumonia, the weather in Kansas has been hot and cold then windy as heck blowing around dirt we live in the country . I have never dealt with this . We got goats last year and they had twin girls last month . The sick one is the runt . She got a dose of antibiotics today and vitamin b .
    Her temp last night was 104.5 . She is drinking water and a few drinks of milk in there too . And she is in my laundry room . I was not prepared 😢all of my animals are always healthy . So I’ve been binge watching on TH-cam thank god for TH-cam lol .

    Watching and reading all the related resources, one thing that strikes me, such as with the shopping lists, is what's the shelf life of some of these things, and how often needed for say... less than a dozen goats... that it's costly to maintain things on hand that will not get used before the expiration date hits. We loose so much stuff in our pantries and shelves due to expirations. It might be helpful to talk about that when suggesting to "have these on hand" (or perhaps rather within 30 minutes - to - hour of drive time as an alternative to buying items with shelf lives). Too often these days we can get something from Amazon or the local shops, but they expire within 90 days of date of purchase.

      Are you able to follow the information laid out in this video?
      Getting antibiotics into her is really important. Do you have access to anything like that?
      And once better and for all your goats you need to make sure that they are worm free. That really stresses them and adds to their ability to get sick quickly.

    Thank you for sharing. I believe my 2 goats have pneumonia and we have started antibiotics. Its the 3rd day of treatment and I feel this antibiotic isn't strong enough. Calling a vet. I believe they caught this from our county fair, my kids just showed them there and they were perfectly healthy and now they are sick.

      Ah man, I’m so sorry!

      Just to give you hope... one of the goat that’s featured in my video “training new goats to milk” was WILD. I had to keep a leash on her to even catch her to milk. It was crazy. But now, she is my favorite goat (🤫 don’t tell the others). It just took some time, and her to realize that getting grain is yummy, it feels good to be milked, and scratches under the chin REALLY do feel good.
      Spending time with them and just good old handling them, hopefully will do the trick 🤗

    • @jodelkrone4860
      @jodelkrone4860 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DelcifromALifeofHeritage Ok, I have another question ?
      Do you give your goats grain besides when you are milking, like to your pregnant goats and how soon after kidding do you start milking and why would you think my momma goat that has 2 kids would have a bitter taste to her milk?

    • @DelcifromALifeofHeritage
      @DelcifromALifeofHeritage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jodel Krone
      You can start taking some milk after a couple of weeks. I explain ways you can do that in this video: th-cam.com/video/2lUqmML7kdo/w-d-xo.html
      As far as the off tasting milk. It’s hard to say. Is she acting sick in anyway? What are you feeding her? What they eat greatly affects their milk. And some breeds and some goats just have better tasting milk.
      As far as giving grain, it would probably be good to give grain to a pregnant goat. They need the extra energy to grow the babies.
