Garret u have been a massive inspiration for me. I got my first subwoofer ( Cerwin Vega pro audio 15) for my birthday this year. I’ve been watching since I was 8. Thanks for everything you have done for me
Saaame man, found this channel when I was youuuung like a decade ago, Thought this dude destroying shit like a psycho was funny ashell and now here I am with 4 18s 4 15s all hooked up lmfao. Peelin paint out here.
Come for the speaker blow outs, stay for the cats (just kidding, these long videos are great). Those coil burn outs were insane! You should definitely get some proper slow-mo going of those burning up.
As a re-cone hobbyist I hate this crap. you will never be able to get original parts and probably never see the same model. what a waste. rather see him do Sumthing productive instead of trashing grate quality parts. R.I.P. to replicable vintage speakers thanks to this braindead crap that people like to see. just go watch car crashes or pro audio fails. @@ivankirola2707
Incredible video Garrett! Love the amount of care you put into your videos. It just makes it feel so comfortable and welcoming. Glad to see another upload from you, and I can't wait to see the blowouts of the Bose subs, the iMac speakers (going up in flames, that is 😂), and the JBL bluetooth drivers! I bet its going to be incredible!
been watching you since i was 15 man lol its been a long time im 28 now and have always loved your videos. Garret Claridge my favorite youtube speaker guy keep up the good work man pls dont ever stop posting videos we love you man great video.
I realy like vintage speakers, because they have a good sensitivity, and they get loud at 10 - 20W of input power. I have 10" Soviet speakers from 1970's, and the woofers have ALNICO magnets and they could play low frequencies, bellow 40Hz.
that old no brand speaker might be and might I don't know yet but I think I found it "Vintage GE 12" Alnico Speaker, Smooth Cone, 3.2 or 4 ohms, 1957-1962, General Electric S1200D" I'm not a speaker nerd but it looks remarkably close to what it is edit: just adding what my last comment was so I can keep everything in one comment to the first part of the video, (wow what a nice old piece of tech to be destroyed still history to see for the future also I'm impressed they work this well)
Thanks Garret for inspiring me to getting into speakers I’ve been watching you for 4 years and I went from a shit Logitech system to a full klipsch and denon 7.2 surround sound system thanks so much 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Just saw this pop up in my feed and the last time I watched your destruction was maybe 7 - 9 years ago lmao, I loved watching your videos. Gonna go find my favourites and have a great time watching them again. Also, so cool to hear BILY on 60 year old speakers. Wonder if whoever assembled them on that day in the 50s thought they'd be destroyed by some music they couldn't even imagine would exist. PS: I can appreciate and love your meerkat character now I've been turned into a furry since last watching your videos.
oh wow that had never occurred to me its the same looking basket with an older magnet, good eye lol still im unsure what it is but amazing wild guess haha
My main 3 way vintage speakers are surprisingly all alnico, i think it was just before they started phasing them out. Anyway i still luv how they sound with my old Marantz.
Garrett my son watches everyone of your videos and we want to try and recreate some of these blow outs he now has tons of speakers what would be some equipment that we need to give it a shot
Some old pa amp, peavey or something, you get them quite cheap sometimes, and there build like tanks, though be a little carefull, speaker outputs can sometimes shock you quite Bad.
Another thought---could the crossover caps have PCB’S In those days caps didn’t have be marked if they had PCB. The caps look like oil filled. Would actually be better than electrolytic.
He is back, I don't know what's the deal with the older speaker magnets, they have such a weird design, could you clue me in on why they look like that?
