Again (like your 'Sospiro') this sounds so natural and expressive on the harp that you have to wonder if Liszt was striving for these effects in the piano original ...
Iian Neill From a technical aspect, I believe the only difference between a piano and harp is what hits the strings, her finger or a tiny lacquered hammer. Makes me think more pieces from Listz would translate wonderfully. Great point!
If using notes, renie songs are most suitable for the harp. Because Renie composed the notes to suit the sound of the harp. The pedal isn't adjusted so frequently that the music loses its melodiousness.
Thanks Richard, that's so very kind of you to say that. I'll be sure to check out your channel now. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you've subscribed so you can enjoy more of my videos :)
Ok WHAT!? As a pianist and harpist I know this song well. However the run up and down…what do you have it tuned to!! Because I’m just floored if you tell me you are changing pedals during that run! Maybe I need to go look at the music and see how you’re doing that. Maybe it isn’t even a big deal…I dunno.
Wow, just checked the music. Looks like all the run needs is an Fb and all this time I have thought there wasn’t even a point in trying to play it on harp. Well, it is a bit annoying pedaling the E and A…and D in the beginning but nothing that is even approaching difficult. I need to stop refusing to even try songs that sound too complicated for the harp because in the end, they are always doable and I have no reason to dread them in the first place.
