1995 Murray ULTRA 12hp 30in cut, Not sure what to do with it

- Got this for trading a 42in cut mowing deck from my Freebie crapsman. Good Deal to me any day!!! Just not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. It has a really loose engine block, right where the two block halves meet together, its loose and shakes out the bolts even after I tightened them, leaks oil everywhere, what a mess.
GLAD TO SEE PEOPLE SHARE INFO THING I NEED TO FIX. ITS A GREAT RESOURCE FOR MYSELF.
I have one of these my grandpa bought. Been sitting for at least 8 years gonna try and make it run for fun.

I cant keep them. Great for small yards and hunting leases, lake lots, goes thru small gates. Get $400,$450 for them fixed up
That "shifter" part you pointed to is not the shifter, that is how ever, the brake/clutch mechanism that let's you shift gears. You have to look further on top of the transmission to see the shifting mechanisms.
I know because I have the exact same mower (painted black by a previous owner) and its not the "ultra" package you have. It just says "MURRAY" on the side sticker.
hmm now that I think of it you might be right I didn't think of that heck take it apart and lets see the internals

I have a 1998 Murray Select 12HP 30" Rider that i bought at a yard sale last week for $10.00 identical to your riding mower. the man that sold it an his wife had it and i was one of the last people there. He had just bought a new John Deere tractor and didn't need it any longer./ He suddenly brings this cute little rider up from his garage and i asked him why he had not sold it buy now for $10.00. he told me that he had just thought of the idea of selling it and 3 minutes before i got there he brings it out.. i was lucky.. it is in fabulous condition and really jamming works right.. Hey i wanted ot ask you if you would be interested in selling the Deck Chute off of your rider./ i need the Grass Chute or Mulching Chute that you have . only you probably still have it on your lawnmower dont you. i certainly could use one since you have a hole in yours i was wondering if you would possible sell yours if you have not used it thus far or have disassembled your riding mower. the chute is the black looking thingy that has a spring attached to the deck.. keeps the grass from coming out.. Duh , like you didn't already know this..
Dont wanna be a party pooper but fix er and sell er. You have a ton of badass toys, and projects started- get some bank and work on the ford or the dayton or rusticide! Your call, just throwin in my 2 cents.
Pulley swap it and throw a giant engine on the back an put a wheelie bar on it now that would be sweet
I say put a twin in it and use the engine in it for the snapper

What does that mower normally sell for? Looking at one a guy has now and he's asking $475, it appears to be the same one only his has the bagger attached.
look at how the engine is monted on a regula lawnmower and how the tans is monted then look at the murray its going the same way as a regular lawn mower just backwords that's all
I would fix the leak the hole in deck put wd40 on shifter it may help but I wouldn't fix the steering as long as steering works then sell it

Thats not the shifter thats the clutch & brake
what is the model no.on the frame on yours.i have one just like it but i dont have the model no. from the frame and i need to order parts for it.if you dont care please send me your model no.on the frame its at the back at very end on the frame.the same parts should work on mine with your model no.thanks larry rhoton

Why would you pull apart a working full size lawn tractor and get rid of at Least a $150 deck for a $50 sit on old ass mower? you should have given him $40 to play with that broken old thing and sell the craftsman for $300 or more.
Was a long time ago, but if memory is right, the deck I traded was the only thing good from that mower.

@Fred Dean nope, ended up trading it off for something else years ago. A lot of the mowers I picked up over the years changed hands quickly, some I never videoed, some never got around to fixing. A lot of my friends, and friends of theirs would often trade me out for stuff, or another mower. I rarely made money on mowers and finally gave up on them.
