The true reason why the PAL times are harder than in the NTSC: To compensate for the lower frame rate, Naughty Dog increased Crash's movement speed in the PAL version. The time trials were modified to accomodate the faster movement speed

I thought that they'd have a small team that did the time trials, and from there they'd calculate the relic times dependant on all the times to make everything more realistic. Like say one bloke did a crazy time, but second best was 5 seconds slower - they'd put the relic time in the middle of both of the two times

The reflected the times from the level they came from, so Hot Coco had Road Crash times.
People had it easy in the NTSC version...
Even tho Hot Coco isnt that hard to platinum in the originals imo.
Whats harder is to SUB 10 second time on the clock and finish the level.
On top of NTSC version having a jump wave cheat, where if you time it just right at the exact moment where the wave is near the Nitros, you could jump over the nitros and finish the level in 1 second.
Similarly how you can break the nitros in the N.sane trilogy.

I like how this game explains that the lab assistant enemies are a bunch of clones Cortex had made in the secret warp room and he was sending them into the different time periods the levels are set in to get the crystals for him. And I think the crystals in Crash 3 are supposed to be the same ones from Crash 2 but since Cortex failed in manipulating Crash into giving the crystals to him in Crash 2 Cortex had Tropy build the Time Twister so he could get the crystals back in their original places in time.
The intro heavily implies Tropy was brought on by Uka Uka, not cortex. So basically, what you said but at the behest of Uka Uka.
But how did all the crystals end up on the three islands for crash 2? All the crash two levels (except the space lvls) were on the three islands that are in crash 1.
They are androids, not clones. You can clearly see that in The Lab and those malfunctioning ones in Crash 2's jetpack levels.
You were half a second off of the Dev time in Tomb Wader. Also, in the hidden levels, the NTSC version has a glitch where the relic times are decided by the times of the levels you enter them in. i.e Hot Coco uses Road Crash's times and this was fixed in PAL and N Sane. As for other slight relic time variants, it's because of the framerate. As NTSC is 30 fps, the timer always ends in 0, 3 or 6 and as the PAL version is 25 fps, the times always ends with a multiple of 4. As such the relic times were slightly altered to fit
On top of Crash movement being faster in the PAL version, judging them by the "Dev times" which originated on the NTSC copy of the game, is rather unfair to compare the two.
Given I can get superior times with Crash on walking stage in the PAL version, and NTSC could never muster to do the same.
That final ski level platinum is a lesson on not being perfectionist. Caddy spend most of the time trying to perfect the beginning, but in the end he made mistakes at the beginning and ending, and still got platinum by 1.5 seconds. If I were to guess, I would say some of the times he reset it, he could've done it.
54 minutes on Road Crash, yeah I'm glad I never bothered to platnum the games when I was a kid
People think that getting 1:15 on Road Crash is difficult..... you poor sweet fools have no idea how insanely difficult getting 1:13 is...
Platinum is a mercy kill at that point.
My brother and I have been chipping away at the platinums for months now . For me just getting a handful of platinums feels like a personal achievement.
I dread "Hot Coco". And dreading a Crash Bandicoot game doesn't feel right.
Funny how Crash 1 took 1 stream, Crash 2 took 2 streams, and Crash 3 took 3 streams.

I said the same thing when I was doing Dev times in Crash 3 PAL version as well...
For example, getting under 10 second time 0:09:80 in Hot Coco was an absolute Hell.

My younger self as a teen was brash and too eager.
Getting some of those times was ludicrous.
Not to mention the execution of "snaking" glitch.
Where you rub your thumb on the D-pad mid jump to left and right fast to move slightly quicker in platforming levels.
I remember ending up with swollen thumbs and sore hands.
EDIT: In crash 4 its about time, the triple spin feels way worse but that's only imo.
Road Crash is a very tough level for me when getting the Platinum Relic. I thought I was the only one who suffered with that level!

Can't afford new consoles and was able to buy crash 3 on ebay and this feels amazing. This is a game that I haven't played in about 10 years but I always knew it was one of my favorite ever. I was able to find new things that I never imagined to be there thanks to you.

The Big Lite platinum run was so cool! with that level being one of my favorites in the game the fact that you did that WITH MISSING ONE FIRE FLY AND ON YOUR TRY is definitely a POG moment right there

Yeah you can get it with Gold Relics, they're enough. I'm pretty sure I've seen it too, even with some couple Sapphires.
1:37:00 it didn't go off because you were too far from the TNT, and that unloaded that section of the level.
2:26:00 That's a common bug with crate breaking, sometimes, under specific circumstances, the boxes don't break. The easiest way to see this is when they're in an L shape and you land on the lowest one. Changes are it won't break.

Also, on animal crossing new leaf the fishing tourniment and bits are alot better than in AC:NH. Actually is fun and you dont have to fish within a very small time limit (you have all day to catch fish, plus you can hand in fish you already had on you, as it was who can catch the biggest fish not who can catxh the most in a really stupid time limit...)

well watching this after watching your playthrough of crash4 I think its safe to say that Sex Toys for Bob made an excellent original crash game..
I don't think an Acapella soundtrack would be that bad in a modern Crash game. I don't even think it's a matter of Twinsanity's soundtrack being fitting for the time, it just fits with the general theme of insane wacky hijinks. That being said Acapella doesn't just have to fit that tone, it can fit any tone depending on how you do it. Whether it'd work for an entire soundtrack a second time might be debatable but still possible.
Fun fact about Cash Banooca the wrath of Cortex:
In the concept Coco was going to have a evil twin sister wich was going to try to "help you" and Crash was going to decide wich was the real Coco in the middle of the levels...
Also the game was going to have a Bad ending and a good ending, but let's be serious, this Cash Banooca not a Oddworld game

I really think they fucked up with Road Crash and Orange Asphalt. I almost always take at least 20 minutes with Road Crash despite it being in the 3rd warp room, whereas I don't think I've ever lost on Orange Asphalt.
I always hated Road Crash the most as a kid.

When it comes down to the platinums, Caddy is sometimes his worst enemy. He thinks he has to be perfect in every single level when occasionally the platinum times are generous. This isn't always the case, especially in levels like Hot Coco, Orient Express, Road Crash etc. But it shows in levels like Ski Crazed and Mad Bombers that he restarts when he so much as misses a 1 second crate or feels like he's going slow, when actually the platinum gives him a bit of leeway.
I just beat this game with 108% and all Gold Relics, all Achievements. The achievement that popped up said only 0.35% of people have completed the whole game lol surprised me since I figured many old school fans would have completed it
I've never cared for achievements or trophies. Unnecessary bullshit. When I see the final cutscene, the game is done.

It's always difficult fighting nostalgia - at least it'll be better than the next-gen Crashes.

PS1 Warped has awfully floaty jumps and I fucking hate time trials in every game ever so it's the worst for me because I have no problem completing the first 2 games but in 3 I have to spend hours more replaying the same damn levels over and over again. If they were optional like in Sly Raccoon or N-Sane Crash 1 and 2 I wouldn't mind.

The jump is more responsive than 1 and 2, and the time trials discourage Aku Aku scumming the game, meaning you actually have to play well to see the secret ending. Discouraging exploits is fundamentally better game design.
