This were really helpful as my shower did exactly the same and the water stopped running. Lucky or unluckily for me it were exactly the same shower so I had to follow your instructions with great care and attention. Thank You for making a fabulous video on how to sort this problem out as most people would have just bought a new shower which is a bit daft when you have clear videos like this on TH-cam. Well done an excellent video.

Thanks for a really useful video which helped me diagnose the problem and fix it with a solenoid costing just £9.25 on Amazon. In my case the old solenoid was impossible to fully remove using just my fingers and I had to resort to levering it off using some tools but I managed to do so without breaking anything and my shower is now fully functional again. Thanks again.

Useful video.. Thank you for taking the time to record, solved my issue. Can't believe the dipstick who designed this couldn't recognise the major flaw in the location of the solenoid....these designers should be made to repair the units, they might then rethink how they package......

Its deliberate. They dont want you replacing parts, they want you replacing showers. They make it awkward to put you off fixing it. In all the showers iv worked on, that's the most common failure but it's never in an easy place to get at. Turns a 10 min job into an couple of hours.

Fantastically useful video - thanks for putting this up. Fixed for £37.50 - a bargain compared to the costly alternatives! BTW, the screwdriver needed is for T10 Torx screws.

Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I've also got a Triton (Opal 2) and I just can't understand why there is a bit of plastic the prevents you from simply removing the solenoid. I really don't want to disconnect the plumbing to the shower so I think I will just cut away the plastic as I can't see any function for it. Other showers don't have any obstacle so this is a really poor design feature as you state in the video.

I don’t have this model of shower but the video allowed me to diagnose the problem. Got the part from Amazon for £10 (which fits most Tritons) and did a straight forward switch from old to new. Problem sorted. Thanks a lot for your info - saved me £££!

There is no need to mark the dials:
    1) The top dial has its own guide and can only go on one way.
    2) And with the bottom dial, just keep it in the same place when you took the cover off.
    3) If you do accidentally move the bottom dial, then just point it towards the bottom with the cover off.
    4) And you should have checked for leaks from the water pipe after doing up the nut before putting the front cover back on (preferably a new seal should also have been used).
    5) There is no need to put silicon seal around the backplate.

My Creda 950DL electric shower doesn’t work properly.
The Mid LED light stays off - water runs cold at full pressure. Turned the water flow dial to extreme hot - then water gets lukewarm, while the flow from the showerhead is weak. Both High LEDs stays on, while the Mid LED stay off.
After watching your repair video, I tested components… I then tried to remove component/s. However, after spending about an hour trying…I found they were not straightforward to remove. I then replaced the cover and left it.
I suppose because the Creda 950DL is so difficult to repair, why there is no information online showing how to repair them???
    So, I guess it's a new shower?!

  • @daves4687

How did you know for sure it was the solenoid coil? Did you test the continuity of it to show it was faulty? Also are these solenoid coils all pretty standard? So one would fit in most different makes of showers

      1. Check the hose is not kinked
      2. Check the handset is not scaled up inside
Both the above will cause back pressure and may be the reason why the shower shuts off.
Worse case scenario: the boiler in the shower is scaled up and if that is the case then you will need a new one.

A genuine knowledgeable and qualified electrician ‘will’ be "competent" in his work and know what he is doing as oppose to some idiot that dabbles with electricity!
Example: with the old wiring system (red, black and un-sheathed earth wire): there are only 3 wires that connect into an electrical shower from the mains: live wire, neutral wire (both which are sheathed) and the third un-sheathed wire, this then must be the earth wire. It does not take a genius to work that one out.

If you do this yourself it will be cost effective but to get a plumber to do this on a shower thats several years old it would be better to replace it.
Cheap solenoids from ebay are hit and miss.Best to pay an extra fiver for a branded item normally about 17 quid.
Never silicone around a shower unit.

They name the showers all wrong and the designers are fools
We need showers that fit the footprint of older showers and a easy to remove solenoid
The names like pro fit lol
Pro fit has a easy pop out solenoid that can be changed in a minute
The normal fit has a bad design making you remove water in, the can, switch, regulator valve or take the shower off the wall
    Pro fit my ass
