    I've been model building for more than 30 years now and I never thought I would learn new things. Today you showed me I was wrong. Great tutorial and I am definitely going to try this out on my next plane. Thank you!

      Thanks mate, I am learning new things although I have 20 years of experience and that's one of the best things in the hobby. It continues to evolve.

    I’ve been using the pre-shading technique for years. This is probably the only video I’ve actually come across explaining the process. You’re going to help a lot modellers on this one. Nice one.

    My most recent build, I did something similar. I lost my pre shading because of multiple colours, and probably too thick of layers. I put some thicker blend coats just on my panel lines and it seemed to bring back the effect.

      Yes building the opacity in one area can have that effect... to a certain point

    weird algorithm is weird... youtube only recommended this today despite my constant searches.
    ..and I really needed to hear someone say (and demonstrate) that there's a part of the process where things look strange (and that we have to trust the process)

      Well the important thing is that you found it and I hope te video will be valuable for you. And yes sometimes you just have to trust the process:)

    Great video, as usual.
    I'm building a 700 scale AH-1W Super Cobra RC helicopter and although I've started to paint it I'm still pretty new to all this and was wondering if you could do a video on a large AH-1W Super Cobra. I think the main thing on it is just the weathering and the exhaust buildup along the top side of the tail boom. I'm curious as to your techniques for this particular aircraft. I'm basing my visuals off of a fairly weathered looking AH-1W from what appears to be an airshow that I found online. Anyways, thank you for all your videos. You sir are very talented and have a lot of patience!

    I'm confused. Why are you painting over the stripes and decals? I think I missed a crucial and very basic point of the video :D
    I'm searching for good instructions to shade camouflage. If I black base everything I can only do a good shading for the lighter color. Once I add my darker camo color now, the shading will disappear under it. Know what I mean? So... I guess it'll be better to just spray an opaque base coat, do the rest of the camo and then just try to post-shade? Do you have a tutorial on that? (It's the camo pattern of Bostwick's P47). I'm struggling to find a good approach. :(

    • @MMScaleModels
      @MMScaleModels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those are masks made from a copy of the color profiles 😀
      I think for darker colors silver basing is a suitable approach. Check out the camo painting episode from the b26 build for more details.

    Absolutely love this technique, even better if you combine it with oil filters. But one thing: too much fading effect on the underside of the ac is not really realistic because those surfeces rarely see sunlight. So less effects there will do a better job!

    • @MMScaleModels
      @MMScaleModels  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate, I agree for the most part but on some AC where the wings fold they do get quite some sun, but generally you are correct.

    What Psi for think Lines painted do close? Is your airbrush 0.2 nozzle? Thank U in advance. Such a coincidence, I just grabbed hellcat dual combo from Eduard and im planning to paint same scheme. Your videos are treasure.

    • @MMScaleModels
      @MMScaleModels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Szymon! It is difficult to put a number as it involves a lot of variables... different paints, ammount of thinner, room temperature and humidity. So my advice would be to get the pressure as low as you can without the airbrush spattering. You can determin the good flow by listening the airbrush. You need nice uninterrupted hiss. Play with the pressure and you will find it. This is true for any size nozzle.
