Pretty cool vid. I did notice that the 2-seat jet went from flying the slot position to solo. Shows how each pilot is versed on how to fly each others flight in the demo.
Sup man I’m from the future 11 years later. Uhhhh, you probably didn’t notice then but there’s literally two double seaters in one video. One flying in the diamond, the other is a solo. Both are just spare jets that they’re using
@Wawaweewaj The F/A-18 the Blue Angels fly is limited to 7.5G. While the plane can surely take a lot more (and if I recall Swiss Hornets do have a full 9G limit) this is a trade of to increase airframe life. (Carrier landings are tough!) I had an old Blues documentary where Ken Switzer (Solo Pilot '92-'93) says something along the lines of "When we first take off and are fully loaded with gas our pulls are about 6.5G. Toward the end of the show when we're light they can be up to 8.2G"
I've saw them during the "Opendagen Koninklijke Luchtmacht-Leeuwarden" (opendays RNLAF Leeuwarden ab Holland-Europe).... My expetations where high of this team...but when the show was over, i was very dissapointed...what a fucking BORING show!!! They should take some lessons at the "Red Arrows" or "Frecce Tricolore"!!
Thanks for that. You have convinced me to stay for the airshow when I come back to San Diego in 2013.
Really enjoyed it.
