I absolutely love steam trains. These are so lovely looking and the sounds, you can't beat it. Last time I went on a steam train was for a short journey on the way to the Norfolk broads. Wonderful to see and hear, thanks.
You need to look up the video with the 'Story of the Unknown Warrior' along with amazing and moving musical accompaniment from HM Royal Marines Band. The Cavell Van didn't pass through Bodiam but went straight from Dover to London Victoria before the procession the following day to Westminster Abbey for the internment.
Haha brilliant great video saw you filming i was driving the terrier that day... albeit im only a trainee driver at present. hope you enjoyed your visit was a perfect weekend for it
@Tudor_Travels that it was yes the smaller engine aha. It's going somewhere just got to keep at it takes a long time to learn. Did well to catch it as much as you did especially after wittersham it's very out the way there !
Love steam trains. Could stand for hours watching them go past I've been saying to Morgs we need to go one. Really enjoyed this 😊 Hope you've had a lovely day
There must be something that draws us to the nostalgia of these old stations and platforms. I’m really glad that people maintain them for our pleasure.
I’m also wondering on a second video but this time being a passenger on the train. Not sure it’d make riveting content for a video though. I seem to enjoy standing on the outside near the engine 👍
You might be interested to know that, as a small boy, I came up here from Battle with my mother and grandmother, when they came hop picking. The whole family did over the years. The top photo frame to the right of the tv screen in the waiting room shows my family hop picking in the 1940's. There is still a link in that I am now one of the Stationmasters at Bodiam.
I’ll have to investigate the Bluebell railway - I’ve only ever been there once as a background extra for the series Black Mirror. I was filmed as a passenger on the train but being at the station was a buzz 👍
At Bodiam it is the actual carriage that carried the coffin of the unknown warrior it was built at Ashford railway works, it also carried the coffins of Edith Cavell and Captain Fryatt who were both executed in the First World War.
As a volunteer at the museum you missed the poster for the East Kent Railway which is an original one but has a few mistakes on it. Rolvenden is the depot where they repair the engines.
@Tudor_Travels I am a volunteer, I shall be on duty in the museum on Wednesday 24th July and would be willing to show you the poster and we have a booklet available on the Cavell van.

Nice one. Was the Terrier the train I was chasing? I had a lot of fun especially since I didn’t know what to expect. I hope your training goes well 👍

Keep going. You’ll smash it. Yeah I turned left at Wittersham and got a bit lost. I should have headed back to rolvenden and turned left 🤣

Thanks for the video. I was the signalman at Wittersham Road that day, it was good to speak briefly whilst you were there.
Oh yeah you mentioned that I might not catch it at Northiam catch it at the end. I went the wrong way but it was fun seeing two trains at Wittersham 👍
Me and Cathy love steam trains and we will be visiting this railway in September. Thanks for another lovely video.

I think it looks better from the outside limited views from a ride along.

Excellent 😉 you've done Shepherdswell railway station a while back and Kent and East Sussex Railway. Maybe Bluebell Railway next 🤔

Wow that’s good to know. I wasn’t sure if it was a replica. It makes it all that more poignant!
@Tudor_Travels these carriages were built to carry luggage for the pullman service Golden Arrow ferry train

Were you a volunteer? I wouldn’t have known to even look for the poster 🤷🏻♂️
