Gents, 6:15 -- As a wood worker with zero welding experience, thank you for revealing how it's done! Also, the commentary on magnetism causing the arc (electric) to wander...also interesting. In current-flow, magnetism and electricity go hand-in-hand...radials of magnetism run at 90 degrees to the direction of current flow. I wonder, if during the manufacturing process of the steel, if magnetization was an inadvertent affect; or, perhaps, the welding action itself is creating a domain? (forgive the geeky comment - I have a casual interest in physics).
how much welding wire do you think will go into the restoration, so far the year has been perfect, though i has only just started. i want to wish you a happy new year from denmark. i cant wait to see all the progress throughout this year. what do you think is the best / most fun phase of restoring a tank. having only restored small things i like fixing dents and painting the most
That’s a very good question. I will have to ask our welder for an estimate. Thank you for the New Years wishes, I wish you the same and hope that 2021 is a great year for you and your family. I think my personal favourite part of these restorations is the small pay offs. By this I mean things such as finally getting a stubborn rusted bolt out. It’s so satisfying.
Sorry if it was said before in a previous video. But is this going to be a full restoration back to running condition? Or only cosmetically on the outside?
Today the metal would be degaussed before finished welding because of the affects on electronic components and radio communications. If welding post production

nice vid. subscribed, keep up the work, would love to do this myself
Finally part two!

Was this one of the two Jumbos discovered at the artillery range in Camp Ripley, MN, in the 1970s?

Far as wire goes? I wouldn't be suprised if they use 4-6 30 pound spools. Ive used about that one big steel jobs similar to this
Great to see.
Was that an M3 Lee turrent i seen next too the spare front plate & the tank as well? I looked like a M3 Hull.
Don't get you talking about tanks.....mmmm......OK,tell us about that red MACK then!

I think it is a full restoration in the first part they were trying to get the engine to work, and they got the 75mm gun into working order as well.
Where did you get all the stuff
There’s a complete Sherman turrant in Westbourne Manitoba
What diameter welding rods did you use on the turret top?
Would the UK museum be Bovington Tank museum that this tank will end up

Portable degassing is performed
Did you guys use AR steel or just mild steel?
Probably mild steel it’s not seeing any combat anymore so might aswell use a easy to work with metal
Have you sold your jumbo to Armourgeddon ?
Their 'restorations' are far removed from the restorations of the Tank Museum Bovingdon!
''easily repaired"
