My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

I have lost a lot of friends over the years and it is very lonely at times. If you have a good friend nuture that relationship. They are far and few between. Sorry to hear Lindsey and Sadie have to move but glad they found a suitable place and you can help out a bit instead of paying storage fees elsewhere! Rent is disgustingly high in most places anymore and it certainly doesn't match most wages. Dinner looked great! You know to save that half pak of bacon, you can just use the half you cut off and slide the remaining bacon in that half packaged to store in your fridge. Saves on ziploc bags

Mathew, add a spring leaf or two to your old spring pack and or oil them to get the noise out. You can see the rust stains from the metal debris as it grinds against itself. When they rebuild your leaf spring pack and add a leaf or two they should replace the plastic sliders between the leafs. I used to build my own leaf springs for my Jeeps 35 years ago....AUGH...I'm OLD...!!!!!

At 5:36 Try inspecting and lubricating the Leaf Spring Bushings and "Round Plastics" spray down all that
orange rust and between the leaf spring plates with Penetrating Oil let it soak and see if that helps

Buy some PTFE spray, also known as Teflon. It comes in a spray can like WD-40 but is a million times better. Teflon soaks into metal like water soaks into wood and can't be washed off. Make sure to give your leaf springs a good spray down at the pressure washer and wait a day or two for all the water to dry out in between. Then liberally soak with the Teflon spray and be careful not to get it on your rotors if you have discs in the back. You can buy it at any Auto Parts or hardware store, but it is a little tricky to find because not everyone carries it.

Lubricate the springs
I think that year of van has plastic pads between the leaf springs to stop that noise ( they wear out after a while ) . I work at a GM dealer in Canada and can check for you if you can give me last 8 digits of your serial number or ask your local GM Dealer if the van is supposed to have them .
Spray some penetrating oil between the leaf springs, see if that quiets it. They do seem a bit rusty. Also suggested is a silicone oil type spray or grease.

Hi Matthew please keep an eye on your beautiful kitty Penny kitty cats don’t sneeze normally it could be a sign she’s getting an upper respiratory/sinus infection believe it or not, it’s the time of year (weather change) that they get sick. I was surprised to find this out also, my vet told me. I’m not saying she is, but sneezing is a sign of it. Can’t help it, I love kitty cats.

Oh, some people do mount the leaf springs on top of rear axle to get that high lift look, but normally the leaf springs are mounted UNDER the axle as originally sold when new.
