    These are gold dust videos especially for newly qualified engineers. Thanks Alan and Roy for all the effort you put into making the videos

    Another great video from Roy
    Love these in depth videos into boiler components. He explains things so well

    Roy is the man on domestic.
    I find that when I do a service (according to some MI's) if the pressure dosnt rise on heating its all good. Also I give them a tap. If it goes ting it reet. If it goes dung it's full of water. As a rule I drain and recharge anyway. For the sake of 5 minutes out of my life its better to do that anyway.
    I will do a video on a commercial pressure vessels for ya.... I dont use a pump or air... ya will love it...

    Great demo again Roy and Allen. Can you demo the mini expansion vessel / shock arrestor. Different design and importance on the cold supply. Not many engineers fit them, but most manufacturers advise installation. Cheers.

      Best practice to fit shock arrestors on installations which have a water meter present due to water fluctuations. It's recommended to install SA's on boilers with plastic internals and hydro blocks.

      @@rayc1503 that's the issue. Potable mini expansion vessel vs shock arrestor. Had a job years back. Someone had fitted plastic cold main to a worcester combi. Pipe burst, looked like it had been shot from the inside ( bullet hole) mains pressure flood never good news. Fitted a exp vessel. Then there's the issue of maintenance?

    Excellent Demonstration, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. ? I wonder how many have left a job with the front of their trousers wet and stained.

    Good video. It's worth noting that the schrader valve can also be easily replaced with the right tool if it's leaking water but the vessel itself is OK.

    Thanks for good explanation of expansion vessels. But as your colleagues shown on the expansion vessels ,simultaneously showing on the white board all the sensors and diaphragm inside the expansion vessels
    There is more understanding for me.
    Thanks for your effort to helping us.without any expectations .

    Great video guys, if water comes out of the expansion vessel valve, does that mean the rubber gaskets is broken?

    • @AllenHart999
      @AllenHart999  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can get a bit coming out and the expansion vessel could still be ok but normally yes.

    Yes! they do certainly get blocked especially on the flexible hose, bingo! Very important point there.

    What should we do if it keeps losing pressure?

    can someone please explain to me why some engineers fit mini expension vessels on their boilers aswell as the original main expension vessel?

    • @royfugler9971
      @royfugler9971 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ed,
      The mini expansion vessel is fitted to the cold water inlet, usually used on plastic hydroblocks to prevent damage to the hydroblock due to water hammer.

    What symptoms are caused by low air pressure in expansion vessels . And why do you need to air pressure in it ?

    Nice video again but why was he getting 5 k ohms on the 3 wire pressure switch when it was flat. I didn’t fully understand his explanation of his test there.

    • @royfugler9971
      @royfugler9971 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Shaun, Thanks for the feedback.
      That's because it's a pressure sensor not a switch, 5k ohms is the base resistance on that particular sensor, the resistance changes as the pressure increases. I hope that's cleared it up.

    I’m doings a gas course and I’m having real trouble understanding expansion vessels and their failure. From this video, I just don’t understand how a blockage can stop the two sides of a rubber diaphragm from communicating, i.e. why does the pressure on the air side not rise when the water side is pressurised?

    • @royfugler9971
      @royfugler9971 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rory,
      If pipe connecting the expansion vessel to the boiler pipework is blocked the expansion vessel can't take up the expansion of water so the pressure relief valve would start to drip to release the excess pressure.

    I thought u would have to drain the water if both at zero before pumping it up again?
