I really enjoy the way Shizuka-san presents/hosts. It's upbeat and enthusiastic but not too much and she's still honest about the flavor of the foods she tries but never comes across as picky or rude. She's casual but still with manners and style. A lot of other food presenters can really learn from her. She's always pleasant to watch and listen to.
I have always wanted to know more about Kumano Kodo. This tour you are taking us through is awesome, Shizuka! The food looks great and the scenery is awesome! Thank you Japan By Food! Ultra Respect!
Incredibly beautiful scenery and locations! The rainy weather gave the forest a magical atmosphere. Great photography, too! I like how all the restaurants, cafes, and temples were so well integrated into the surrounding nature. These are the kind of places I really like seeing in Japan. Thanks for showing us!
I like your videos, especially that you inform first about the area and place where you are before you actually go to the restaurant. It makes it more interesting to watch. Also the video is well edited.
Beautiful hike - and yes, misty and mysterious! I also spent a couple of days in the rain from Takahara to Chikatsuyu then Hosshinmon-oji to Kumano Hongu Taisha!
Yes to everything in this episode from the food, the locations , and of course the host. I’d love to go on a tour incorporating good food and pilgrimage
what a wonderful journey, the walk looks so ammmazing, it was over before I even realized it! so quick I wanted to keep going right after, gonna be replaying to enjoy that beautiful scenery again
Imagine travelling to different countries and see innovations of Japanese food to suit the countries taste. But do this once in awhile, only when it's the host's convenience.
Which restaurant did you like the most?
The soba restraunt was cool, I like the tempura. 😊
2nd place deer meat was the best after a long days hike! also surprised my photo still there 懐かしい :)
The soba place looks very quaint and lovely.

Great episode, looks professional. 👍
Great looking dishes. It does appear to be a tough hike, going uphill.
The hike is definitely not an easy one but people usually spend a couple of days walking the kumano Kodo ☺️
Love these type of places.
We do too!
The soba restaurant looked just amazing! Wonderful attention to detail and quality.
Yes! The atmosphere was top!!!
Cool video!!! Go Shizzy!!! 😊

Such a lovely video. I’m a big Shizuka fan (fo shizzy my neezy) but if I hear historical again as an adjective….It’s historic. 😵💫
Amazing! We are glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. I have not had soba noodles in sometime I need to try them again. I will stop by my Asian market and pick some up
That’s a great idea!!!
Good video
.
Glad you liked it!
Shiz san is so sweet!
wish you talked about price points with each meal. Also, do all these places have english menus?
Thank you for the feedback! We will take it into account for our future videos.
Shizukaaaaaaa
Damn, wish I had known about these food options when I walked the Nakahechi. I'd do it again just for the food.😅
🙋♂️カワイイ🤗
ありがとうございます😊
Where did you start walking from?
The 中華ちまき is called a zongzi (粽子) in Chinese and is traditionally eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival.
Yes, exactly! :)
Kumano kodo maybe religious place in sense but it is a place where you feel the “presence” where Japanese describe as gods.

森羅万象、Shinra banshou.
It was incredibly spiritual 😍
Good
Thanks!
Cool
Are you guys using some kind of filter? The colors look muted. The last couple of episodes look somewhat off to me.
Why the seller in the first shop whistle with shell before you left? Any culture about it?
It is like his ritual he does whenever the customers leave his restaurant :)
You need Vessi tennis shoes! They are waterproof.
3:54 That wasabi is worth well over $50
Looks good but we may eat a horse afterwards. My son said !😮
the place is still old.
Im a onirigi "tsuma"...haha
i love Shizuka 😍
