Something else to consider with the over ears is that you can double up on protection by wearing in ear foam too.

I love all kinds of music but hate when other people force me to listen to music in public places. It's so inconsiderate to assume that everyone else around you wants to listen.

Rap music is not stupid there hill Billy. I don’t like all of it either but it’s definitely not stupid. I still appreciate the info.

The people who blast their personal music in public almost always play foul-languaged rap music. They enjoy being rude.

I use the 3m Peltor in ear and they changed my life for shooting long guns. I can't stand muffs now. One thing to keep in mind if you shoot indoors I always use foamies and muffs. Indoor is hard on the ears. Great vid!

I was skeptical when I bought the AXIL GS Extremes because after I bought them I saw a bunch of unhappy customer reviews. Now that I have them I will NEVER go back. They are great. Comfortable and cooler than muffs on the range. The electronic hearing is pretty good and the bluetooth isnt like a highend headphone for music but it isn't bad by any means. I use them on the range, cutting grass, working in the garage and the shop. The only thing I cannot speak to is longevity because I have only had them for a little over three months but so far they are great.

The Axil Blu muffs have the 27 dB SNR, which is calculated different than NRR. You'll typically see the SNR be 3-5 dB higher than the NRR.

I blew my ears out when I was younger. Any sudden loud noises trigger severe tinnitus in my ears. I like the headphones but the ambient sound is artificial. I use foam plugs.

Good stuff, brother. When I shoot indoors (unless I'm training in a group setting), I wear foams and Howard Leight Impact Bolt (the upgraded version of the Impact electronic ear pro) together. I also run gel ear cups.

Came across your viseo while looking for eye protection for shooting and motorcycle. I once shot my 12.5 pinned 308 without ear protection in the blind. Lesson learned.

I've used the Champion Vanquish model for a couple of years. I have over the ear hearing aids and the cup shape is better than others.

Thanks for the options Joel. I was unaware of the Axils. On the cheaper end I like the Peltor Sports better than the Howard Leights. They are more comfortable for me. I only shoot outdoors and especially when I've been shooting in open farm fields I've been wearing the in ear Surefire EPs. They never get in the way, no batteries, and you can pop the little caps open to get some more sound in. I'm wearing those exclusively now, unless someone is shooting a short or braked gun close to me on the line, and then I'll double up with the electronic over the ears.

Thanks for the video! I ordered a pair of the Axil ear buds. Been using my Peltors for a few years but they are just to hot in the summer time.

Can you do little video on that truck it’s gorgeous!

  • @AndrewH168

I like to use electronic muffs over foam in ear plugs. That way it amplifies conversation to a level you can talk in an inside voice while still adding more protection
