Having played more serious games back in the 70s, 80s and 90s two-three hrs of play seems pretty lite comparably. So I don't understand the fuss about that.
Player interaction comes from the card reveals which sometimes means all players get regret, etc. Also, passing the Life Preserver, the final reveal of who has the most regret. Not massively high player interaction but also not non existent. Downtime is very limited as each player only has 1 action per turn and the actions are not long. So I wouldn't worry about that too much.
