I think ports to lesser arcade hardware are fascinating. Like the CPS1 version of Mega Man: The Power Battle or the CPS Changer (literally CPS1 at home) version of Street Fighter Alpha/Zero
Given that they revised the fruit drawing routine for this version, I wonder if it still glitches up on level 256? Also, what happens if you get past level 99 since the fruit is in the way of 100?
Word of Advice: Don't port galaga hardware games to galaxian. You'll get things as disgusting as this. Same with dig dug [zig zag] I would shudder to see how Mappy, Xevious, or Dig Dug 2 would fare under galaxian hardware...
Not sure about Dig Dug 2 and Xevious, but Mappy uses the same hardware as Super Pac-Man, so I doubt it'd be portable. I would LOVE to see a Ms. Pac-Man version of this thought!
Back in the 80s, I think one of the nearby flea markets or a hamburger stand had this version. As a kid I used to call it "Funny Sounding PAC-MAN", but today it is annoying.
Me: "Mom, can I play Pac-Man at the arcade?"
Mom: "We have Pac-Man at home."
Pac-Man at home:
If I was a kid in the 80's I would have gladly taken this over the 2600's Pac-Man
@@KiwiTheRetroGal That by itself is saying a lot.
The bootleg low-budget fan game.
imagine going into an abandoned arcade wandering around and suddenly you get blasted by 0:22
This abandoned arcade must be haunted by Macky, Mickey, Muckey, and Mockey. I'm gonna make 3:25 my ringtone.
Galaxian's sound chip is clearly not suited for any other game.
Galaxian's Arcade hardware makes any Namco arcade game look like drug themed versions of their arcade games.
@@wadmodderschalton5763 agreed like my vinyl scratch picture I made it myself
@@teamrocketundercoveragent And it sounds as of someone dropped their Gameboy in the washing machine
Except King & Balloon
@@125scratch2you tried it out? If so, what happens if Galaga & Galaxian switched their games on their swapped cabinets?
My Dad used to operate arcade video games in the 1980s and he had at least two of these. They were labelled as 'Munchman' and were not very popular!
Kid: Mom, can we go to the arcade to play Pac-Man?
Mom: No, honey, but we can go to the Laundromat, they have it there.
Pac-Man at the laundromat:
I consider “Right Game, Wrong Hardware!”
Pac-Man: _baka baka baka baka_
This mf: *OULGA OULGA OULGA*
The strangest port of PAC-MAN I know of was done on Tecmo's World Cup '90 hardware, which used ADPCM samples of most of the sound effects and music.
I remember having this on an arcade rom dump disc for the OG Xbox

Literally the only character that looks right is Pac-Man
And the scared ghosts...
Yep
And also the ghosts when they turn blue
Pac-Man sounds like he's yodeling
My local arcade has this version of Pac-Man on it's multi-game emulation cabinets.
This is like a drug-themed version of the Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man.
It doesn't look anything remotely like Pacman for the VCS.

Inky be looking like a .exe character.
The munching sound reminds me of Canadian geese

The tile for the numbers glitch out a bit
I played something like this, but it was Galaga using Galaxian hardware
1:37 How did he not get a 1-UP there?
Dude, the Ready Screen says "BONUS FOR 15000 pts"
This is why earplugs were invented.
I had to turn down the volume on my computer because I was using headphones. This could give someone a headache.

The Galaga sound hack on pac man sounds cool
Xevious would just fucking die hell I dont think xevious could even survive on galaga's hardware

Why is it that many bootlegs use Galaxian hardware to produce clone games? Was it just easy to get Galaxian hardware?
It was a combination of issues. Operator Naivety, Supply & Demand, and cutting costs.

in my local shop there is an arcade with this version of pacman
Hell Pacman.
I know this one this is a PAC-MAN clone
Does it have speed up back?
How to play this properly: turn off the sound and play some good music
Or alternatively, don’t play this at all and play some actual pacman
that's terrifying
Those sounds are just freakin' gross when paired with my favourite arcade game that I suck at of all time.
The ghost sounds are half-decent.
