These are the kind of lessons that kids even today need's to learn. My school years we used to watch safety videos like these all the time, I thought they were useful but...well kids being kids seeing the actors acted out on what to do on using firm voice and protecting our personal areas they would just laugh thinking their acting is silly. Not me, I was those kids who lived for safety and took these lessons to heart.
A couple of months ago, I was cleaning up litter from the playground. I saw a little girl playing all by herself. Concerned for her safety, I went up to her and asked her if she was with someone. She told me that she was with her father, father's girlfriend, and brother. She also told me that her father and father's girlfriend were watching her brother play soccer. I offered to watch her, but she said, "my daddy told me never to talk to strangers." I told her my name. I also told her that I wasn't gonna hurt her or kidnap her, so she allowed me to watch her. I watched her until her family came to take her home. When her family came to pick her up, her father asked me who I was. I told him my name. I also told him that I was just watching his daughter. He thanked me and took his children and girlfriend home.
Meme: When I was a little girl, I was on the lookout for strangers who can always tell me to open the door, and when they do, I call out my mom/grandma to open the door for them. The bad people that I avoided was a man who talked on my phone and says that if I’m his folk, another with glasses who’s wearing a golden name tag, and another who rode on a white truck in my very own neighborhood, but I did saw some people, because I’m hungry for affection and thirsty for joy: a man who was a new teacher that’s looking outside the sky while I’m on my way to Mr. Avery Warner’s History class, a woman who’s s mail carrier, and another man who rode on a different, red truck who lived on the other side of my house.
Mommy taught me about stranger danger when I was 6 years old. Because of that, I knew to say no to strangers. When I was 14 years old, I missed my bus for school. As I waited outside in the pouring rain, a lady pulled up to me in her car. She asked me if I wanted a ride to school. Thinking that she was a stranger, I said no and ran home. I told Mommy about it. She picked up the home phone and began to call 911, but when the lady came to the door, Mommy immediately recognized her. The lady turned out to be a good friend of hers. I then got into the lady's car and she gave me a ride to school. I apologized to her for saying no to her. She forgave me and said that her parents have been teaching her about stranger danger when she was a little girl. She also told me that she also taught her daughters about stranger danger. Turns out, her daughters went to the same school as me. When I was 18 years old, I was walking home from Wawa with bags full of butter. A guy pulled up to me in his car and asked me if I wanted a ride home. I said no and he just drove away.
