I remember going on the USS Drum when it was in the water just behind the USS Alabama many years ago. My late sister and I played on the 5 inch 25 caliber deck gun, which you could move around and up and down. Many good memories. Later took the tour with my two sons on both ships.
I don’t know if it’s the video or what, but that makes me feel claustrophobic! I don’t think I’d be one to serve on a submarine. How many crew were aboard?

It is amazing how small the sleeping berths were in the one I saw at the U.S.S. Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, SC. Thanks for sharing this.
