Girl, I lost it on a Karen today. I'm not really a confrontational person, and that thing about respecting your elders was really drilled into me as a kid, but this awful old lady just grinded my gears today. I was behind her in line at the store, she had the poor cashier in tears for literally no reason other than her own stupidity. When she left she said "Thank you" sarcastically to the cashier, who was looking down trying to cal her tears and quietly said "My pleasure". This woman has the audacity to turn around and yell at this poor girl "I SAID THANK YOU ?!?!". So I looked at her and said "She did say it was a pleasure. Go be rude to the people at your house, this cashier isn't being paid enough to deal with your shit attitude". Her face was priceless. I bought the cashier a cookie and a piece of jerky and offered my sincerest apologies that that woman treated her like that. I really hate people sometimes.

I was behind one of those older, rude ladies not long ago. She had a huge cart load of groceries, just kept throwing things on the belt, but then was almost yelling at the cashier very rudely about what she wanted bagged with what and that was backing the groceries up because there were things in her cart still that she wanted bagged with things that had already been rung up. The manager came over to help bag. I guess she's well known and does this every time. The cashier taking care of her has been a cashier for many years and I know her pretty well. Nothing gets to her and the manager always helps bag when they see her at the register. The woman complained about how slow they were and she was in a hurry, etc. Her rudeness and screechy voice grated on me so much, that I finally said "Perhaps it would go quicker if you had the ability to group the items you'd like bagged together on the counter at the same time so your didn't have to hold up the entire line, while complaining to the cashier because you are unorganized or better yet, use self checkout and bag your shit yourself so we don't have to listen to you bark out orders to the more than patient workers stuck dealing with a miserable bitch". The woman had shocked look on her face and turned bright red and she shut up while they bagged her last items. I'm sure she saw the cashier, manager and people behind me kind of smirking and giggling. I had had enough of her. I normally never say anything and have a lot of patience for older people, but I couldn't stand listening to her anymore. As she was leaving, the cashier told her to have a pleasant day. Lol After she left, the cashier said she's always like that and that's why the manager always helps bag just to get her out of there. I hate seeing service workers treated like crap.

I'm working for a jewelry store (the kind that can't go to water or silver etc), a couple came in, went to my coworker and began to angrily explained that his wife lost an earing clasp (she didn't lost the earing, only the earing clasp), how it was unacceptable, that he wanted a compensation yada yada. She told him politely that there is nothing we could do about it, that kind of thing probably happened to every woman in the world with ears pierced etc. He didn't took no for an answer and went to me, tried to block poeple from going to the cash desk, I told him the same thing as my cowerker, I was about to go wild but, a lovely lady who was not having it did it before me "No wonder you can't get what you want by being a giant piece of sh*t, you seriously crying for a fucking earing clasp that YOUR wife lost ?? Get fuck out and let us pass !" He was so surprised, he didn't fight and actually left xD

      I'm saying this again:
Fast food places hire 14 year old kids and they cannot work the fryer, grill or slicer, so they are often who you are yelling at in the window. My son is a manager at Arby's and is very protective over the young girls working drive through because his daughter is 13. They get customers cussing them out over something they didn't do. The other 14 or 15 year old person, who bagged the order wrong, just handed it to the girl in the window to hand to the customer. At first, she probably had no clue you didn't get the first 2 hashbrowns and then your frustration and b****y tone may have made your initial complaint not clear or that girl got upset at being talked to like she's an idiot. My son would have gone into full "daddy mode" and politely, but firmly explained that you are cussing out a 14 year old girl and he'd be happy to correct your order. Usually the person gets humble and apologizes and if they do, he'll remake the whole order and give you additional free food. If you are still an azz, which rarely happens as my son looks like a cast member from "Sons of Anarchy", but is really a sweetheart and a single father to his 13 year old daughter, you'll get only exactly what you paid for and he doesn't care if the food you already have got ice cold. Even the older girls working there love that he goes full on daddy mode and is protective if anyone gets out of line with their comments to them. He will step in anytime the older women working there are being talked to rudely and they aren't the type to speak up for themselves. Have some patience and keep in mind that you are probably speaking to someone's child or possibly someone's grandma. It's not that serious.

The girl that was stealing at saphora reminded me of the time when I first worked at Walmart. We had this guy that would dress in all black and we called him "the Lego man" lol he'd steal high end Lego sets but it was so sneaky and to this day we had no idea how he'd get away with it.
As soon as he would come in the first employee who had a radio to recognized him would get on the walkie, "Lego man here." Which would put us all on high alert. We would have employees follow him and observe him from a far. Even the undercover people would be on him.
He would go to the toy section, pick up the most expensive Lego set, and the walk around all the aisles for approximately 30 mins to an hour. Because employees couldn't get up close only to ask if he needed help they had to step back. He'd then turn a corner of one of aisles and then hand the box back to the closest employee to him. The box was still shrink wrapped and had the protective device strapped on the box as well (the box wasn't damaged at all except the smallest incision on one of the corners. If the set had large pieces it wouldn't have gone through), but as soon as he handed it to the employee, you'd shake it and it would be completely empty. We tried searching him, the area around where he handed the employee the box and retraced his steps on the security footage to try and locate the Lego set. Never caught him in the act and never recovered the items.
He did this for an entire year and then one day he just stopped showing up. We all had theories on how and why he did what he did. The logical one was he had an inside guy who work with and then would sell them for a sum sense they were in high value or collectors additions. My favorite theory was that he's a magician and he just stole them cause he didn't want to pay for them and could get away with it.

I never worked at Walmart, or any stores like that, but I did work at Penny’s in the mall when I was 19. We didn’t seem have a lot of theft, but we did have to clean the dressing rooms, and we had a big problem with people doing their “business” (if you know what I mean) in the dressing rooms instead of the bathrooms and it was The GROSSEST THING ever! Thankfully we (cashiers) didn’t have to actually do the touching of the “business” we had to call the poor janitor and he had to deal with it. This happened multiple times while I worked there. (Only 1 year) needless to say, I didn’t work there long) 😅 my guess is that the thefts didn’t get as noticed because of the dressing rooms…

No one is obligated to follow anyone on social media. Period. It doesn't matter if it's a stranger, friend, or family member. Social media is not the only way to socialize. And even if someone chooses not to socialize IRL, that's fine too. He isn't one of your closest friends in the world; he doesn't owe you an explanation. If someone gave me that card, I'd then block them on all social media and tell them that this behavior makes me less, not more, likely to interact with them in any way online or in person.

Stealing: The problem is insurance companies pay out the stores when they have theft…but insurance companies are finally saying NO to payouts and stores are losing that part of their insurance. In my area we now have supermarkets and Walmarts with armed security and frankly, it’s refreshing. I’ve experienced people stealing and walking out with stuff, it’s just terrible all around.

14:37 I was followed and accused of stealing by this worker around the make up store close to where I live. It was a few years ago, I went there because my younger sister wanted to use my student discount card on some of her Beaty products, I had completely forgotten that I had a lip gloss I'd purchased from the same store (Superdrug in the UK) from the previous week that was unused.
This store worker watched me enter the store, head straight for the makeup area that my sister was standing by, which was coincidentally the same area the lipgloss was from. I must have stood too close to it as I accidentally knocked some of the product over, so I quickly picked them back up to put on the stand then walked around following my sister as she grabbed items to buy, I could sense someone watching us and stood very close by, but shook it off to someone being nosey. I spotted the worker in one of the little mirrors standing not that far behind us, and noticed her follow us to the counter. My sister went to buy the items, I grabbed my card out of my purse for her, when the worker said "Aren't you going to pay for that" I was confused at first until she pointed into my little handbag at the lipgloss. I told her that I had already done that a week ago, she didn't believe me until I grabbed the receipt from my purse (luckily it was still there) to show her. But then said it could have been a different lipgloss and that I could have taken that one (the one in my handbag) from the stand when I "accidentally" (she literally did air quotes) knocked the products while putting it in my handbag.
Luckily the worker (Lucy) who was there when I purchased it showed up, I explained that I was being accused of stealing, while the other worker told her that I had. I gave the lipgloss to Lucy to check, she scanned it and said that it was marked as sold. Told us to have a nice day and apologized for the other worker's behaviour. Two weeks later I found out that she was fired for harassing customers and (I kid you not) stealing merchandise from the store room 😂😂😂

I said "No, that would be my change if all I gave you was a ten dollar bill. I gave you ten and a quarter." They could see the quarter I gave them and yet they couldn't grasp the concept of making change. Finally they threw a dollar bill at me and said "Fine, are you happy now?!" I'll say this again: Fast food places hire 14 year old kids and they cannot work the fryer, grill or slicer, so they are often who you are yelling at in the window.

I figured someone would point this out but this is it. I've worked at multiple customer service places, Wal-Mart being one of them and I was a manager at others. Employees and Managers are told explicitly not to confront shoplifters because of the possibility of them having a concealed weapon. This happened A LOT at Walmart in particular. Going around and providing "customer service" was the only way we were allowed to try to dissuade people from shoplifting as it would make them uncomfortable and leave most of the times. Places like Walmart had secret shoppers who were our undercover security guards and they would be looking at the cameras/following people around. But it's insane, I've caught way too many.
The only time I was able to actually call out shoplifters was when I worked at a little store in my small town. And that was CRAZY we had shoplifters all the time. Had a lady try to steal someone's winning scratch ticket. It's crazy but yeah for safety purposes, no one could confront them.

It was 32 floors with half floors and basements. They hired her as a secret shopper security officer and she advanced to head of the department by the time she retired. No one would think that a petite, sharply dressed, older woman was part of the security department, so she had the highest catch rate for several years straight. She'd see someone shoplift, radio the office and they'd send men to confront the shoplifters. She loved that job and got a 20% discount at any Hudson's, (which turned into Macy's), until the day she passed at 99 years old.

Former Asset Protection Associate here. We aren’t allowed to stop shoplifters due to insurance reasons but some states in the US say that only police have the right to accuse and detain. If a regular associate tries to detain or stop a shoplifter, it’s grounds for the shoplifter to sue because of false imprisonment/ false accusations etc.

I once saw the stupidest person trying to pay for a drink, they asked for a HOT chocolate then tried to pay the £4.85 with Monopoly money (the notes were clearly worn out and used), the female worker spoke to him with a professional "don't hit or slap them" smile, while telling him politely that he had to pay for his drink with actual money or she'll have to cancel his order, he had an annoyed face while telling her "This is money, why can't I pay with this." I wanted to tell him to just pay already and stop pretending to not know what real money is.
After almost 5 minutes of her polity (though I could tell she herself was getting annoyed by this) telling him that he needed to pay with actual real pound notes (£ UK) or coins or his order would be cancelled. He finally (hallelujah!) paid with an actual £5 note, I ordered and paid for my drink when he acted up again. Complaining that his drink was hot instead of cold, the worker reminded him that he ordered a HOT chocolate, so it would be a hot drink. He went on a tyrant about how he had bought it from other places and it was served as a cold beverage, that he had extra cream with his dairy based drink.... That's when both the worker and I realised that he thought he was ordering a chocolate MILKSHAKE. I grabbed my drink and gave the poor worker (who was staring at him with a look of "Are you stupid" while clenching and unclenching her fingers) a £5 tip in her tip jar and wished her the best, then left wondering if he was drop kicked in the head as a child.😂😂😂

If I'm trapped as a passenger sometimes it is only food available tome for 12 hours or so. I have put up with jokes and looks from my insane parents that won't make another stop anywhere, when it's order time for me to get a huge stack of hashbrowns and nothing else. The yolks there cause me to choke they're so dry. The sausage upsets my belly. The pancakes no matter what you tell them had that tasteless liquid plastic butter. My parents yelled at me the one time I ordered a ham sandwich and took it apart and tossed that egg off. So whatever is ordered has to be eaten as is the other option is no food until they pull over and the door is unlocked. Seriously last family road trip of 4 days I ate twice total and I paid for those 2 meals and it took hours of yelling to get that.

At the other, they weren't allowed to stop anybody. They had to call Loss Prevention "security" to stop people & those employees couldn't stop people past the front doors. Police were required to be called once the person left the store at both. But Target policy is not to call the police until the amount is arrestable (grand larceny). I went ahead and took all of our stuff out of the bag and put it on a shelf, and was like "so do you want me to take this up to the cashier for you to buy or do you think you should just leave now?"
She stammered like she had already bought those things earlier in the day (she hadnt, they were literally still cold!) so i was like mam, i need you to leave the store now and not come back, because i dont want to call the police.
I had to ask her multiple times to leave and almost did have to call the police.
The audacity, honestly? Makes me regret being nice and not calling them.

For someone who works in retail and has been the victim of a shoplifting incident, most stores do not allow you to go after people stealing. We can inform the boss like that and keep our eyes on them but we can't actually go up and confront them. For safety mostly. If they have a weapon on them it could go bad. I had a coworker get badly injured when he went after shoplifters. I have wanted to many times! Especially working at Target, lots of shoplifting there! My husband grandfather took amazing care of his wife, sppiled her in every sense of the word. She never made purchases at a store, he always took care of whatever it was. She NEVER used a credit card machine, pumped gas for herself, NEVER. When he passed away she was LOST without him. I can imagine her not understanding how to make purchases. The first time she ran out of gas she was towed and then had to ask someone to pump gas for her. Bless her heart, she did that until the day she died. She went her entire life without pumping gas. We miss them both dearly. I will say that my husband was taught well. He spoils me rotten, more importantly he lets me know everything will be alright.

At the drugstore I work, we have to be 100% sure that someone stole for us to approach the person. There was one time I suspected a woman took something from the shelf and put it in her bag, then I went to my coworker and explained it to her. My coworker asked me to keep her busy while she would pull it on the cameras to be positive about it. And, lo and behold, she did put the product in her bag. Coworker asked for receipts, she didn’t have any, ended up admitting and giving the product back. The point being, we have to be VERY SURE that it happened, because we can't risk throwing false accusations.

As someone who works retail in a mall in the US, I can say that we're typically not allowed to follow customers out of the store or check their bags (even shopping bags from our store) without the customer's permission. It's mostly a safety thing for the employee's sake. If we suspect someone might steal we'll keep an eye on them throughout the store, and if we think they stole something we'll alert mall security so they can handle the potential thief and alert other stores in the mall.

There's an elderly man in my village, his garden is STUNNING! He and His Wife spent YEARS working 7 days a week working out there.
Since his wife passed, he struggles a bit doing stuff on his own, so many locals will "pass by" stop to chat and start to help him.
But a couple of local "influencers" would come into his garden making videos like they were in their own garden.
They'd stand touching his food like tomatoes saying they grew them and it's so much better to eat off the plant (it's a VINE dipshiz) she picked bit a tomato, bit into it, made moaning noises then spat it out into the garden, dropped the rest. They did this with loads of his fruits & veggies.
Then she stood in one flower bed while her partner filmed her! She was careful to not damage the flowers...
He was stomping flowers to get the "angles".
Once done she stopped being careful and stomped across the flowers to get out.
He's spoken to them before and gotten told "gardens are for everyone, you don't own gardens"
He solved the problem pretty quickly, he took down the fence that kept his 2 Geese from wandering the garden too much...
Yeah they don't come back anymore.
These two are so audacious they got into 1 garden picked a spot the took their neighbours furniture into that garden for their pic's & vids.
Caused a fight between neighbours until a video camera showed what happened.
They've been slapped in court for antisocial behaviour and are banned from EVERY garden but their own and banned from filming outside of their property they cannot film in shops, streets or in front of other houses.
They're currently very whiny about this and cry that they'll have to buy another house... But they rent that house & their landlord has now told them they will NOT renew their rent. Apparently there is a local landlord whatsapp and they have warned other landlords about the behaviours they will bring with them.
Now they're whining no local landlords are showing them properties... lol

@@AmethystEyes That's a decision for Loss Prevention and/or the manager. I'm betting the managers fill out a form, and LP looks at tapes and contact police. From what I was told when I was hired, no one in the store can even pull the footage from cameras, that has to be done by LP. So we have to wave at cameras to mark times when stuff happens so LP can pull the footage when making a police report. And since we Do. Not. Escalate, I've yet to even see police at the store, and I've been at my store for almost 15 years.

Customer service is hard, especially when working in retail...
Usually I'm immune to customers beefing for the smallest of things, but today a customer actually made me cry and I just couldn't hold the tears but had to pull myself together (for like 2 minutes) and get back to work 'cause it was a busy day 😢

I’m so sorry you had to deal with that. Customer service makes you face the worst and most ridiculous people/situations. It’s extremely hard to balance the “I have to be professional because it’s just work” and the “this is too far and I can’t take this bs” when responding. It might not mean much but I hope things get better for you in and out of work!

what this woman didn't considered is that maybe that guy's girlfriend made him unfollow all women on the app. not just her. so now she's stirring up crap in his relationship which just goes to prove his girlfriend right that other women are trouble.... no she's too busy thinking it was him 'dissing' her and being too egocentric to take a moment to consider other possibilities...
additionally, with 'secret santa' stuff, you could always redraw another name, but she WANTED his name in order to be petty. again egocentric...

I'll say it again: Fast food places hire 14 year old kids and they cannot work the fryer, grill or slicer, so they are often who you are yelling at in the window.

@@kimmyB9203 I appreciate your comment, and I’ve worked in service jobs like this for all of my working life. I know what it’s like getting cussed out over nothing. But I also get hangry and frustrated mostly by the not listening and often the attitude of workers. I personally never yell, because (of my own experience being on the receiving end of needless yelling) that will usually get you nowhere. But I FEEL the exact same way as this woman. The fact is, neither of us knows what age the service worker in the story is. It might be not that serious, but it’s also not that hard to not screw up an order, especially if she was 👏🏻 listening 👏🏻. EXTRA always implies you already have some. (Most 8y.o. even get that.) If the girls are that young, that’s a problem of businesses not willing to invest in older employees to prevent a lot of this. And no 13 y.o. should even be placed in these positions. The frustration I feel as a customer usually comes after the attitude of the worker, acting like I’m the stupid one. But again, I personally never yell at service workers, no matter how rude they get. I just never visit the same place again. Ever.

The internal rage I felt on behalf of that first woman with the hashbrowns 😂. Like ok, we probably don't need to curse the worker out, but ooo, I would've been trying hard to keep my calm because the math is not mathing and her outward reaction probably would've been what the voice inside my head would've been saying! Lol. I think at that point though, I probably would've just asked for the manager instead - which I hate stating because of the rep that comes along with it, but sometimes, we just gotta talk to someone that knows how to do the math 🤣.

Being a dinosaur, I went to a macdonalds 4 years ago, walked up to the counter to order, & was told that I must order at the stupid computer at the entrance. I proceeded to ask what they were being paid to do, since they were standing at the counter WHERE YOU ORDER FOOD, and they said it was to take payment. I hadn't been into a macdonalds for approx 10 years before this....I only normally go there if I'm on a road trip. That day, I lost my shit. I'm too old for all this technology crap. The queue for the "computer" of which there was only 1, was 15-20 people deep, waiting to order, & this woman, along with 4 other 'workers' were standing there, waiting to take money from 1 customer at a time. I walked across the parking lot to KFC & was greeted straight away at the COUNTER, and they took my order. I looked across at macdonalds as I got back into my car, & the queue to the 'express computer' hadn't moved

As a retail worker, in some places I have worked we actually have to let them go because it’s health and safety! We don’t know if the thief is violent or not and they could sue the company if they get hurt if we went after them. We are drilled into us “the best prevention is to give good customer service” essentially it’s we know you have stolen from us we’ve clocked what you have but we will do our best to stop you from taking more, as safely as possible. Plus each company has different policies regarding this.
