Paul's conversion converted me from agnosticism. Seeing someone who would have known Jesus be so opposed to Jesus but make such a polar turn towards him? That's a powerful testimony.

I like the meteor theory. It just adds one more, "How fortunate for Christianity that this happened at just the right time, at just the right place, to just the right person, in just the right way, in order to get the biggest world-changing religion in human history off the ground."

    • @5BBassist4Christ
      @5BBassist4Christ ปีที่แล้ว +10

Throwing this in with other claims:
How fortunate that Isaiah 7:14 existed to answer Jesus' misfortune of being born out of wedlock (according to Celsus (Against Celsus 1:32) and the Talmud (Sanhedrin 66a:14-15)).
How fortunate that Hosea 11:1 exists to cover the misfortune of Jesus having to sell himself as a slave in Egypt (according to Celsus (Against Celsus 1:28).
How fortunate that Psalm 22 so welly describes Jesus' misfortune of being crucified.
How fortunate that so many of Jesus' followers hallucinated his resurrection.
How fortunate that early church persecutor Saul saw a meteor that he thought was Jesus, causing him to convert and become the biggest church planter.
How fortunate that so many of these people were brutally tortured and executed to serve as testimony of the sincerity of their faith.
-If you remove just one of these (according to a naturalistic view of Jesus), then you don't have Christianity rising to become the most world-changing religion in the history of the world. You need every single one of these fortunate misfortunes to have just coincidentally worked out in favor of this unfortunate mamzer born of a poor woman in a small town of a back-water country at the right time in history.

@@TestifyApologetics I've since researched conversion disorder and I think it's just a misnomer of sorts. Unfortunately it exists, and my heart goes out to those who suffer from it.
It appears to be a real, albeit psychosomatic, condition and it seems to have next to nothing to do with perceived religious experiences (although hallucinations can be a symptom of this disorder).
It mostly affects the motor and sensory (as in, it may cause blindness and deafness as opposed to just hallucinations in general) function in those suffering with this condition.

I've been a Christian since my return from Beirut in 83, I was raised in atheism, I came to question my lack of faith in Beirut, and was convicted in faith in searching for truth, meaning. Faith means believing in things unseen, evidence that is sketchy, because of time, distance, but there was simply too much to refute at that point. I've long studied the scriptures, it's easy to question faith in the dark of night, if it were solid evidence, faith wouldn't be involved. There is little of the Bible I can even consider questioning, it's long history has been tested in every Nation, by every People. I believe Jesus walked, and Paul was converted on the road to Damascus. My faith has been well challenged and well secured in my own life.

No doubt the message that Stephen preached was the seed that was planted in Saul. He fought against it for a while but God allowed it so the Church would spread out from Jerusalem. Once that happened He reckoned with Paul face to face and put him in his place simultaneously commissioning him to the ministry. If this was a hallucination, after a fraction of the persecution he went through he would have bowed out. I wouldn’t die on that hill and Paul was far intellectually superior than me.

Not to be confused with having visions. This is obviously a verse to protect against self declared/falsely declared messiahs. Paul never claimed to be the Messiah or claimed the Messiah was at a location on earth, so that verse doesn't discredit the vision he experienced.

“I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”
Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this. John was given A VISION of what WILL HAPPEN at the END! Paul NEVER knew Yahshua. IF, and that's a BIG IF, Paul found something in the wilderness, it was a DEVIL!!
Paul even said he LIED= roman 3:7
Remember Yahshua said when he returned there would be DEAD bodies and EVERYONE would see him, not just a few pharisees in the wilderness.
Paul prob did see a devil in the wilderness, his daddy, Apolloyn = Rev 9;11
Paul is the FALSE prophet in rev 19:20
And here is more proof paul was a FALSE apostle
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. I know your WORKS=deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false."
      Rev 2:2
Let's examine whether Paul truly FITS what Revelation 2:2 says.
      1) Does Paul CLAIM to be an Apostle? Yes.
      Many many times. Rom 1:1, Rom 11:13, 1st Cor 1:1, 2nd Cor 15:9, 2nd Cor 1:1, 2nd Cor 12:12, Gal 1:1, Eph 1:1, Col 1:1, 1Ti 1:1, 1Ti 2:7, 2Ti 1:1, 2Ti 1:11, Tit 1:1.
      2) Does he make this claim IN EPHESUS? Yes.
In his letter to them. "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:"(Ephesians 1:1, Ephesus was in central Asia minor)
      3) Since Jesus speaks in past tense, does he FIT THE TIMELINE prior to 90AD? Yes.
The period A.D. 44-62 focuses around the ministry of Paul, and might be designated the Pauline period. (KJV Study Bible, Liberty University)
      4) Does Paul acknowledge his claim to apostleship is challenged? Yes.
"Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? (2) If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. (3) Mine answer to them that do examine me is this," (1st Corinthians 9:1-3)
      5) Does Paul defend charges that he is lying specifically about this matter? Yes.
"Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity." (1st Timothy 2:7)
      6) Does Paul speak of being "tried" in formal public hearings? Yes.
"At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge." (2nd Timothy 4:16)
      7) Does Paul speak of brethren then turning away from him? Yes.
"This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia beturned away from me; " (2nd Timothy 1:15a)
There is no record of Paul's friend Timothy defending him. During his trial in Jerusalem, no Apostles defended him. Why would virtually EVERYBODY desert him? Perhaps because he was wrong?
😎 Does Paul think there can be LOTS of Apostles rather than just twelve as Jesus says in Rev 21:14 and Mat 19:28? Yes.
      1st Cor 12:28-29. Ephesians 4:11. 1st Thess 2:6.
Claimed to be an apostle during that timeline, on record being accused of lying about it, on record being tried, on record being so controversial that his closest allies abandoned him. My challenge. Show me ONE MAN that matches on these points better than Paul of Tarsus. Unless you can produce one, I'm going to declare the circumstantial evidence overwhelming toward this guy being your deceiver.

1 Thessalonians is the best evidence Paul had the Gospel of Matthew which he paraphrased frequently. If you analyze the letter to the Thessalonians carefully you'll find that its keyword phrases and themes follow the same order of Mathew chap.23, 24, 25. At the end of Thessalonians Paul writes "we are not children of darkness, therefore let us not sleep as others do" Then within the same chapter he uses the word "drunkness", then few verses down he writes "don't quench the spirit", this is being pulled from the parable of the 10 virgins only found in Matthew, its keywords follow the same order found in Matthew 25. The lamps, the oil, the virgins sleeping, this is the theme mentioned by Paul, the oil in the parable in Matthew is symbol of the holy spirit, the lamps burning is as you can see in the epistles of Paul when he says the fire of the spirit, this is why when he says "don't quench" is alluding to this parable. You cannot quench something that isn't burning. So Thessalonians theme's follow the same order from Mathews themes. The traditions say Mathew was composed in Judea. Don't you find it coincidental that yet again we find the same concept in 1 Thessalonians when Paul wrote "you imitate the church in Judea" while throughtout the epistle he heavily alludes to Matthew?

It is truly wonderful if people are actually led to YHWH through Yahushua or even a made-up story. Our pastor did it all the time.
    That being said...
In one English definition I am a christian; in that I follow Yahushua's teachings.
In another English definition I am not a christian; in that a "gentile": is a christian, one who opposes the worship of YHWH, a pagan, a heathen.
    "Christian" is a Yanus word.
I worship YHWH. I needed to point that out before you all judged me about Faul(Fake-Shaul).
In my first 50 years in church-christianity, I never read Fake-Shauls writings because even in our church everyone argued about his contradictions and what each person believed.
For the last 21 years I have endlessly proven facts against Faul(Fake-Shaul) using his own words against YHWH's.
"The Advent of the False Messiah" according to Faul, was the "300 million volt bolt of lightning." in the one-second-flash-of light, (the very name of Helel/satan), Faul had a short conversation not a conversion. No witnesses to that conversation! A requirement from YHWH.
    Proof Ref:
    Mat 24:4, 5, Mat 24:5, 24 - 27, Luk 21:8
    Act 9:3 - 7, 2Cor 11:14 Isa 14:12,
What are the signs of a false Messiah?
    He says;
    "I am the Messiah"
    "I am he"
    "I am Yahushua."
"or actually says nothing, but just goes BOOM "
    We are we to be on guard for the misleader;
    In Jerushalem.
    On a Mt. top.
In a wilderness or desert. !!!
Mat 24:26 “So if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out...!’ do not believe.
Faul said, "look, out in the desert, I met a bolt of lightning," with his ears ringing, and the lightning gone, nothing there, no person, his ringing ears, allegedly had a conversation and "the Lightning said it was Yahushua?" NO person, and none of the men heard a voice. !!
Before Faul abolished it, The Torah requires two or three Witnesses for every major event. How convenient !!!
    The above is highly redacted.
I have about 20 pages proving he did not meet Yahushua and about 40 times Faul goes against YHWH and Yahushua the anointed, you know, the Elohim that we are supposed to believe and follow.
Just a curious thought. About 3 years ago lightning struck a tree only 30 ft. away from me. My ears were ringing and my eyes hurt. If I said Yahushua spoke to me, would you believe and follow me if I wrote a bunch of letters just like a Pharisee? I doubt it. But If you believe this Jewish Pharisee that you never met, you became a Jew. !
    Added info:
    Faul was a pharisee.
    Pharisees;
    1. ALL were sent to the gentiles, Faul was NOT selected by Yahuhsua !!!
    2. ALL were allowed to modify YHWH's Torah into THEIR OWN ORAL TORAH !!! He did that.
Faul never said, "YHWH told me to say,,," or "YHWH sent me,,,"
He created his own Torah by the Pharisee's job description, after a crash course with Kepha/Peter.
He wrote that he was for and against both oral and written Torah. To appease the people, He contradicted himself.
Gal 1:18 Then after three years I went up to Yerushalayim to learn from Kĕpha, and remained with him for fifteen days.
What! Did He get a "Master's Degree? A Doctorate's Degree? NO, He did what a Pharisee did, make up stuff to please the gentiles.
It is impossible to follow "YHWH & Yahushua," and follow Faul with 40 oppositions and contradictions.
Any questions? I will respond with respect. Shalom.

@@stevej71393 to misinterpret or quote Pharisee Faul, what he wrote, is immaterial. He is a fraud. He misquoted the TanaK, and he did it to himself.

They were ALL sent to the Gentiles,
he was allowed to change the laws to make an easy road for the Gentiles.
It was in their job description.
NONE the Oral Law given by rabbis or Pharisees was ordained by Yahweh.
To follow Jewish pharisee Faul's Torah makes you Jewish.
There is zero proof that Faul is a valid apostle, or witness of Yahushua in any way, shape or form. That's the bottom line.
His words alone are not good enough.
He met a lightning bolt, and, being a Jewish pharisee, was allowed to exaggerate, making up a conversation between himself and Yahushua.

Paul likely spoke both, I believe it was Hebrew in this case.

Paul would have known Hebrew as a devout and educated Jew, their scriptures are written in Hebrew.
He may have known aramaic, but I doubt it would have been his native language like it was for Jesus.
Aramaic was Jesus native language because He was raised in the northern portion of Israel that was once occupied by the Assyrians, who spoke Aramaic.
Paul I think was from the Jerusalem area.

Paul was a false apostle who taught salvation by grace through faith. Jesus never uttered the word "grace". Paul dictated most of Acts to Luke. The 3 "conversion" stories he gave contradict each other.
*Where did Paul get told what he must do?*
_“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”_ (Acts 9:6)
_"16‘But get up and stand on your feet. For I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen from Me and what I will show you. 17I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by faith in Me.’ “_ (Acts 26:16-18)
    *************
*Did the other men fall to the ground?*
_"And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.”_ (Acts 9:7)
_"And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’”_ (Acts 26:14)
    *************

*Did the other men hear the voice?*
_"And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.”_ (Acts 9:7)
_”And those being with me indeed beheld the light, but they did not hear the voice of the One speaking to me.“_ (Acts 22:9)
    *************
    *Was Paul a liar?*
_"But be that as it may, I did not burden you myself; nevertheless, devious person that I am, I took you in by deceit.”_ (2 Corinthians 12:16)
_"For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?”_ (Romans 3:7)
    *************
*The other eye witness accounts on the Damascus Road........ none*
_“If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not true.”_ (John 5:31 )
    *************
*Paul was identified as a false prophet in the 1st century*
_"You are aware of the fact that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.”_ (2 Timothy 1:15)

just because the word grace is not used by Jesus, does not mean He did not teach it
the word trinity is not used either, do you believe the trinity is false doctrine as well?
the followers of Jesus vouched for Paul, and they would know better than you would if Paul was not of Christ.

@@InitialPC There are many verses that show the Trinity doctrine is wrong. The trinity has its origins in paganism. It was introduced by Rome to convert pagans.

Then God said, “Let *us* make mankind in *our* image, in *our* likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
Ok your turn. Show me these apparent verses that condemn the trinity that you claim to know.
Also its really weird how the Romans introduced the trinity in a text that predates the existence of Rome.

Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
That's a strange thing to say for someone who apparently rejects Paul.
Also, Phygelus and Hermogenes were not the apostles of Jesus.
