Ode To Joy and A Ghost is born are, to my eyes (ears), their finest records. They really have something special, this Wilco signature we can hear with those contemplative lyrics and music writing, productions, and even artworks. Thanks Wilco crew for accompanying me for all these years. Can't wait to listen to the next one and see you playing live again in Paris.
"He was so deep in thought that the thought itself could never have possibly made the trek back to his mind occur but delighted in the thought of it being moved." ,dan'
[Verse 1] Eight tiny lines of cocaine Left on a copy machine In an empty corner of a dream My sleep could not complete [Verse 2] There are sirens in the birds And you and I are too far apart And my eyes need a shave What else can go wrong? [Chorus] Now that I'm not longed for Wild life seems wrong Won't care Won't stare You've got family out there [Verse 3] The silver black boot That cracked my front tooth Is a new kind of truth I'm getting used to [Chorus] Come back lonely How sad? If only I don't believe you don't care You've got family out there [Verse 4] Where the power lines are down Whipping sparks around Like angels touching down I see you there [Chorus] How sad? If only Don't believe you don't care You've got family out there You’ve got family out there
Not boring at all. The last album was boring. I dont even remember one song on it. Star Wars blew my mind. This is classic Wilco. Perhaps on the slow side but the effects, guitar solos and heavy drums and great lyrics make up for the slow beat..
@@diggerthegroundhog8799 for me it's all about melody, don't really care about sounds... for instance take the song spiders, when Jeff plays it with an acoustic it just sounds amazing because the song is actually really good. Here you have boring songs with great sounds, it's like having to paint a really bad drawning. But this is just my opinion
@@alessandrodemarchi3001 I understand where you are coming from. it's about vocal melody for me as well. Wilco's tunes sometimes tend to sound similar and sometimes just dull. They did make some really good ones though like hummingbird, impossible germany, pot kettle black, jesus etc, via chicago, how to fight loneliness, misunderstood, atleast that's what you said, poor places, radiocure, I'm always in love etc. But more than 60% of their discography sounds quite similar to me and uninteresting.
The percussion on this song delightfully rumbles my whole house

god damn. what a lyricist.
brilliant
Great stuff here.
devastatingly sad and beautiful
"You don't care, you got family out there"
Percussion drives this whole album.. i.m.o 👌🍌
New twist on classic early Wilco. Nostalgic lyrics.
[Verse 1]
Eight tiny lines of cocaine
Left on a copy machine
In an empty corner of a dream
My sleep could not complete
[Verse 2]
There are sirens in the birds
And you and I are too far apart
And my eyes need a shave
What else can go wrong?
[Chorus]
Now that I'm not longed for
Wild life seems wrong
Won't care
Won't stare
You've got family out there
[Verse 3]
The silver black boot
That cracked my front tooth
Is a new kind of truth
I'm getting used to
[Chorus]
Come back lonely
How sad? If only
I don't believe you don't care
You've got family out there
[Verse 4]
Where the power lines are down
Whipping sparks around
Like angels touching down
I see you there
[Chorus]
How sad?
If only
Don't believe you don't care
You've got family out there
You’ve got family out there
Thank you 🔥🍋
Beautiful Song
reminds me of Schmilco more than any other on this album
Here comes that heavy drum again.
He mentions sirens a couple times on the album. What is that about? Problems sleeping?
Is he channeling Lucinda Williams on a couple of these songs. Some are a little too, too but the lyrics are phenomenal
"...therefore I was." ,dan' (i thought)
“I can’t hear this song because my thoughts were too loud.” ,dan’
Best one IMO. The album though... boring. We already had warm and warmer, why do we need this one?
Cause Warm and Warmer had next to no keyboards and piano on them where this album features great keys
I do really like the album but you're correct it's very solo Jeff Tweedy like
