You forgot the part where you get arthritis trying to put the seal onto the Washing machine. Everytime one part of the seal is in place, the other side comes off
You missed the bit where you skin yourself trying to get the inner seal wire back in place. Unfortunately I've still had to call out an engineer as this seems impossible to do after 30 mins of trying and blood. Any tips or tricks as to how to get that wire back on would be appreciated as a self-help video that results in an engineer call out isn't as useful as it should be!
Got the seal on the drum with great difficulty, then found the inner drum wouldn't rotate because the seal Ransom sold me (supposedly for the right machine serial number) didn't fit! I put the old seal back temporarily, it fitted easily, so I think with the correct part that bit would be OK. *BUT* as others have said, getting the inner spring back is seriously difficult. There is a bit of a knack and after wrestling for best part of an hour I got it - with help of someone putting a finger on the top to stop that bit moving while I worked my way round the rest. And you need steel fingertips. Probably OK for fit young men.
I think its a definite that you put an advisory notice on this video " may cause utter complete rage" . My seal wont even stay on,then wrestling with it sliding all over the place because its got washing up liquid on it,get half of it on then that pops off trying to get another part on,gave up im getting someone in to do it,i yhink irs best for the future survival of my washing machine. Thos is coming from a gas engineer who has absolutely no yrouble fixing some of the most awkward boilers going.
Safe to say I’ll never be doing this again got the inner wire on but with my finger stuck under then I almost lost a nail the wire snapped back and went under my nail that hurt definitely just gonna pay to have it fixed next time this inner wire is killing me 😭
I’ve tried so hard the past few days and sure enough just as I think I’ve the inner retaining spring on, it pops out with the seal. I’m at a loss at this point. I was looking at spring expander tools but the spring on the retainer band is approx 4.5 inches and anything available to buy only extends to 4inches so that’s no good. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I had the same problem yesterday with getting the inner wire and spring on, and solved it using this hack (cable ties and a spanner). I couldn't believe that it actually worked! th-cam.com/video/DG0tsMtsVi8/w-d-xo.html
In 3 minutes and 19 seconds you have successfully given my wife the confidence to order the parts and ruin half my Sunday wrestling this wretched thing on. Please for the sake of others remove this video and replace with one stating that this job requires otherworldly patience, and should only be tackled by those with a sadistic level of self hatred.
What an absolute pain this is. Fingers are almost bleeding trying to get the first spring washer on from video. There must be learned experience (or a knack) in putting these things on. Gave up to try another day.
This video is does not explain the hardest part of getting the inside seal on. It can be done with some persistence I used a child's plastic safety knife to help slip it into place .
Been trying to get that inner retaining spring back on for the last two days now. My hands are battered and just as I’ve thought I’ve almost got it, it pulls the seal back out from the grove. I tried to purchase a spring extender but the spring on my hotpoint is approx 4.5 inches and the longest spring extender I’ve found only extends to 4inches so I’m at a loss how to get it in. How did you use the plastic knife to pop it in (sorry if it sounds silly)
after reading the comments I was a little worried about doing this job.
Omg I did it in 15 minutes on my own ......it was easy.

You need a long nose pliers to pull on the spring when fitting the spring

Four hands are better than two. Missus and I did this in 10 minutes!

Thank you for completely confirming that this is far more effort than it is worth. I shall be calling an engineer.
it's my turn now....
