    There is absolutely NO DOUBT those QR’s sounded other-worldly Fabulous on those BHK’s! I’d have nearly given a right index finger to hear that fidelity from those gorgeous little towers! Equally curious, was how well things went with Hegel’s mighty damping prowess. An outstanding assessment as always, and thank you very much for posting.

    Was lucky enough to have a shop suggest I listen to these when I was looking for new speakers. They did not get away from me! Have them paired with some Atoll pre/power and can't get enough. Were a pricey speaker for my budget but regret nothing. Have a listen if you get a chance.

      Keep up those comments and I’ll have to come up with a stronger term of approbation. ‘Venerable’?

    Enjoy your reviews Tom. Audiovector has a great reputation and I'm sure these sound great, but at this price point I'm waiting to listen to the SVS Ultra Evolution Pinnacle speakers that come in at the same price before adding the next pair to my collection. Thanks again.

    So, which do you like better these speakers or the Borresen X3?

    Somebody explain to me the room size limitation. Tom mentions if I remember correctly 1500 to 2000 ft.³. My room, in a great room concept home, is 5000 ft.³. But truth be told we just sit in the corner with the speakers maybe 10 feet apart and the listening position 10 feet away. So in that situation does room size really matter?

  • @meesmo4
    @meesmo4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    At this price range, i believe the Borresen X1 is a superior choice, at the cost of slightly lesser but more articulate bass

      I bought the Børresen X1, but returned them after 3 weeks.
      They were almost too clean sounding resulting in a rather clinical sound.
      Soundstage depth was not great either.
      So i returned to the Audiovector R1 Arrete speakers.

    I don’t understand entirely the problem regarding CDs. Is it recommended to listen this speakers if you only have CDP as a source?

      R3 Arrete is a much much better speaker

    Oh blast, I wish I hadn't seen this. I don't know about audio quality, but these were love at first sight for me, especially once I saw they do have grills. I think they would be a perfect fit for my small living room where I'm currently running Zu Audio DW6 speakers. Sure wish I could borrow a pair to try out.
    Note: Nowhere available in my state so a no go for me.

    But compared to Maggie's new 2.7i?

    • @thomasmartin2219
      @thomasmartin2219 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you have the power and the space for Maggie’s they are a good option. Especially if you don’t mind (or prefer) the LF roll off. In addition to the 2.7i, the Open Architecture 1.7i is worth a look. Or will be.

    • @glenncurry3041
      @glenncurry3041 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@thomasmartin2219 I brought it up because you compared these to the LRS+ which is far less expensive. I would agree those two to be a better comparison RE quality of sound, than making them stand up to a pair of 2.7i's! (I'll argue the LF roll off, Yes I've see cars and truck systems that can move more air with low end heavy songs.... 🙂
      My 1.7i are about 5+ years old. So the 2.7i or the Open Architecture 1.7i? Though I could likely just attach to the foil paths in mine!

    • @thomasmartin2219
      @thomasmartin2219 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @glenncurry3041 Good points. I chose the LRS because of nearly comparable size, but that is certainly not the only variable of interest!

    • @glenncurry3041
      @glenncurry3041 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thomasmartin2219 As a decades long Maggie lover, I always appreciate the favorable mention of the LRS+ in comparison to speakers costing many times more. It says so much that so many reviewers do this. But it causes the Maggie model that might be more cost competitive to not be included in the discussion. So I chime in for them!
      And a short note RE LF. When we are talking about wavelengths of 35'-+40' in a room with a 24' max dimension? The discussion is about pressurization, not reproduction.

    • @thomasmartin2219
      @thomasmartin2219 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@glenncurry3041 This is an interesting point. It would appear that we hear pressurization because it affects the SPL of different frequencies differently. In any event, from talking to many audiophiles, the Maggie bass issue has to do, I believe, with the range from about 40-80hz. Which is above the point of concerns about room dimensions being shorter than wavelengths (though room modes are still an issue). At 50 hz a 1.7i will naturally be down 18 db due to the baffle response (-6db/octave from about 400hz), which is then compensated by Magnepan as much as they can. Now, one can easily argue that the resulting Maggie dipole bass is still better and that what some listeners are missing is excessive, modal bass. But, the fact that Magnepan is working on bass augmentation products suggests that physics is an issue too. 18db may be a lot of compensation at high levels even with a very big driver?
