I've written a book but writing has never come easy for me

I have never been particularly academic or skilled at writing. As a youngster my written work was often a confusion of French and English. I grew up in both countries and following a very happy period in France I returned to England aged 7. As a result of the shock of an unwelcoming return to England, I stopped talking altogether. This is known as selective mutism and I was assessed as "educationally subnormal". Fortunately, I managed to overcome my mutism and friends will know that I can talk an awful lot these days!
