That clip of "Little Laura" was very precious - thank you from all of us for sharing that! By the afternoon, you're new level of confidence was clearly shown - you're obviously a quick learner. Keep up the great work!!!
Little Laura reminds me of my dad teaching me farm work when I was young....... from a Kenyan in Australia, thanks for the great work you do with Grant and your dad
My father was a dairy farmer and I remember riding with dad to mow clover, plant tomatoes, wheat and oats then harvested it those products. Also grapes and asparagus. What a wonderful time on the farm we had. Also almost lost an hand. My father lost the side parts of 3 fingers on the cutting blades of the combine
Laura, that was amazing, seeing you working a combine as a child,, just incredible. Your attitude to agriculture is a true inspiration.. well done, happy harvesting.
Laura, I really loved this video, watching you operate this combine for the first time, being nervous, chuffed and with satisfaction written all over your face, you should be proud of yourself. And all that with a beautiful smile on your face as always.
It was in your blood except for time studying. You have the mindset of a true leader, that never gives up. Set your goals high and go for it. God bless you and your family. We are praying for your Grandfather.
Grant, you're missing a lug nut on the rear tandem of the trailer you were showing us. The glass insulator you found makes me wonder where the poles went. Thanks for taking the time to let us ride with you both.
I personally don't see a tree in 30 mile radius of this farm...nor do i see so much as a rabbit or any small animal! Looks to me like a desert!!!! This is just exactly what I am talking about when I say animals have no where to hind from hunting of humans!!! It just keeps getting worse as farmers get greedier and greedier!!!! Tell me Laura where does this corn and soybeans go to???? China!!!! Or just in general overseas!!!! You destroy all of our wildlife refuge for Chinese that actually doesn't give a dam about Americans!!!! So what's next? 10 thousand more acres of forests and animal habitats!!!! You should be ashamed of yourself!!! But greed has your mind under it's control!!!! Your TH-cam channel has a lot of animal lovers wondering what kind of people doesn't give a dam about their environment and the animals that live there in!!!

That looks like a glass electrical insulator which used to go on power poles. And that view of the setting sun is amazing. The land is so flat you can see 186 million miles!
So interesting learning about the daily life on the farm. Your excitement on running the combine is so funny. Cute as a bug in a rug :) What that in the rug, Laura bug! Ha. Grant and you are really lucky to be able to share this adventure together.
YES...it is a glass insulator, not especially for electricity but came about in the days of telegraph lines, used for early to mid 20th century phone lines as well. Some are very rare and can be worth a bundle, I use to collect them, many different makers, colors, etc. Part of Americana glass history. LAURA does a great job!

It looks like you are moving up in the harvest hierarchy Laura, soon to be taking over the farm and letting dad relax a little. Just loved seeing little Laura man handling that combine, fantastic. Looked like Grant's harvesting was going great also. I think you must be very multi-task able, operating the combine, taking videos, talking to us just one amazing woman. Grant, the insulator is right on. They were also used by the telegraph company along the railroads. When the Rock Island closed down in Iowa the old right a way was turned into a walking/bike trail. The poles and insulators are still there.
Grant...that piece you found looks to be an electrical isolator / insulator ,usually found on cross members of power poles..actually very "old school".. found on wood poles...today..a bake lite type product n steel poles! Hope this helps!??
Seconded, that's a glass power line insulator. Probably got knocked off a power pole when one got replaced or fell in a storm and worked it's way into the field over years of seeding/harrowing etc.
With 43 years of service, (with one to go) in the Power Generation Industry as a warehouseman, I cannot begin to count how many of those insulators I have discarded for recycle.

I agree 💯 with you! The flag is symbol of those that fight daily for our freedom. Had a guy this weekend that had 22 years in the Navy telling me it was nothing but a piece of cloth. He said he didn’t serve for the flag and couldn’t get out of him what he served for in the Navy. Made me angry and I walked off before I said something wrong. We we’re at a shooting match at a gun range. How does he think he can go to an open gun range and shoot his guns. Much less own and be able to carry a gun without that “Flag”. I fly two on my gun cart red, white and blue, plus a darker blue line flag for Law Enforcement. Keep flying the flag!
It is funny because any other country if you saw a combine with their own countries flag on it you'd think "what an idiot" and then Americans are like "Fighting for my guns and Freedom" hilarious.

As a city kid from the streets of Brooklyn, I went to the country and worked on a family dairy farm in the summer once back about 65 years ago. Hard work from dawn to dusk. In between the milkings there was all the work planting and harvesting the feed. Retired now at 76 from the pharmaceutical industry and remember those as some of the best days of my life. Love you guys and your families.
Grant, that was an electrical insulator from a power pole. Laura, the younger you sounded more confident in the combine than the present day version!😂😂 I am sure having your Dad in the combine didn’t hurt back then!
Everybody does it different....we engage the head first so the electromagnet clutch does not have to slip and then we throttle up. Great video, love for my daughter to try this. Stay safe
At 8:14.. That's an old Telephone Insulator. It's very old. It's what old Telephone 'Open Wires' were attached to on a Telephone Pole. That one is broken up pretty bad so it has no value. It's glass, right? I'm a retired Telephone Engineer and have seen thousands of those throughout my career. I even had quite a collection of different colors and styles. th-cam.com/video/O4r2l3UZl-Q/w-d-xo.html Later.
@@vk2ig It's a Telephone, Open Wire, Insulator. Open Wire was the first Wiring that Telephone used. It was non-insulated, protected. I've seen and owned hundreds over the years, since 1973. I'm a retired Telephone employee. I know the difference. Did you watch that video I attached in the previous thread? This was about the best video I could find on TH-cam. Later.
I find your programming absolutely fascinating. Spent my entire life working outdoors as a U.S. National Park Ranger who married a farmer's daughter. Learning more about farming and where our food supply comes from watching your vlogs than I ever could have expected. Love your work ethic and the values you, Grant and your extended family convey. Also love the American flag flying over your machinery. Your positive attitude, wonderful smile and great educational content keep me coming back. Thank you so much for sharing and for all you do to support America. Stay safe, happy and enjoy life.
We also use a drag rake to clear the fields of rocks and unwanted objects that can damage equipment before we plant for the season. This saves $1,000's in parts and repairs.
I don't know why you get nervous Laura, you're an excellent equipment operator! I still enjoy watching the years old video of my daughter drive the front end loader all by herself at age 7, so I know how proud your Dad is of you!!! God Bless you all, and keep feeding America! :)

That thing that Grant found is an insulator off a very old telephone cross arm. We were still placing the clear ones when I went to work for AT&T in 1965. The green ones was many years before that.
Stay safe
Hey Grant, the green glass is a part of an old school glass insulator.
I love the fact that you didn't get caught up in the Hollywood lifestyle and remained a simple farmer, I applaud you my dear, keep on farming.
I’ve been watching for over a year now and still can’t get over how gorgeous you are!!!😜. Grant’s a very lucky man!!
Stay safe and healthy out there Laura.....God Bless the American Farmer.

Later.
Good comment. Many are saying it's a power line insulator, but it wouldn't have had sufficient flashover resistance for that service.
Tell Grant he was missing a lug nut on the tires he checked on the semi trailors
Saw that, was wondering if anyone else did. Lol
This is what it's all about, this is the America I'm proud of. This girl should be the poster child for success in America.
David Hall i thought the same thing when I saw it; hey I get a peaceful feeling just watching these videos of Laura and the New York Farm girls.
Little Laura! Lol that was a proud moment for dad!
Looks like a lot of fun. Full of responsibilities but fun. Your Dad's a good teacher. Girls can do anything. Such a huge expansive sky. Make the day seem longer just looking at it.
I remember the first time for many things.. The intensity, the focus, attention,,,, but all that is nearly a given with you. Intelligent, personable,, and a smile that could light a pumpkin. You go girl.
glass insulator for power pole and little Laura is soooo adorable.
i enjoy your videos .mostly i want to thank you and your family for producing food for all of us across this great country
That thing that Grant found is an insulator off a very old telephone cross arm. We were still placing the clear ones when I went to work for AT&T in 1965. The green ones was many years before that.
Laura you are awsome and Grant is fortunate to have you as his wife.
Little Laura was as cute as could be.
Keep up the great work. Watching every video from north georgia.
its always a treat watching your updates every day or two. The ups, the downs, the joys and the frustrations of learning your career. Good luck on your harvest and I hope you get a good yield
