  • Derek Paravicini is a musical savant. His extraordinary gifts developed alongside blindness, learning difficulties and severe autism. For Derek, music is a vital avenue of communication and understanding in an often confusing world. With an instinctive grasp of harmony and perfect pitch, Derek is a wonderfully creative musician and virtuoso pianist who remembers everything that he hears and can effortlessly switch style and key.
    Derek absolutely LOVES sharing his music with the world, taking requests and hearing comments, so please do leave some ideas for him! #music #incredible #skills #positivevibes #motivation #happy #genius #neurodiversity #amazing #talent #piano

    While Derek is absolutely incredible, I think that we should all appreciate and recognize the father for helping guide Derek. I’m sure his father introduced him to music, and he’s still by his side all these years later. What a good Dad.

      Yes he could play 10,000 songs... and play every one of them in a dozen different keys, and then add innumeral variations to each...so he can literally play hundreds of thousands of songs and they would never be the same. All from his mind.

      On Derek's live streams, you can see him occasionally do this with pieces he has just heard for the first time seconds ago as well. Changing key is just a completely natural thing for him, no conscious effort at all.

I'd love to hear his take on a track from the official sound track to Icewind Dale 2 a track called skeleton of a town by composer Inon Zur. the original goes for a few minutes, most versions you'll find on TH-cam are extended for an hour as it's a very beautiful piece and people get lost in it but I'd love to hear how derek tackles it on piano. He has perfect pitch and can identify and recreate specific tones perfectly, to an infinitesimal degree, reflecting his cognition.

    • @irnehhenri
      @irnehhenri 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely not true, people use all of their brain, "we" use most of our brain for "trivial" everyday things like being able to communicate with other people, planning and executing our daily routine like making food, eating, going to places and doing things we have to - even if we would rather not. Things that are literally impossible for Derek, because his mind is probably only wired to care about music - sure he's unbelievably good at it, but at the cost of being dependent on others for everything else.
      Technically you might achieve such a savant level of skill if you were able to reprogram your neurons to a single skill, but that would mean similarly regressing in all other areas of life and giving up your ability to independently function in society.
