  • Inside this maximum-security juvenile prison there's a special cell unit specifically for teen inmates who hope to transition into the military once they're released from prison. With less than 50 spots open in the "Future Soldiers Program", competition to be accepted is tough. The unit is known as a cellblock with many more privileges than other general population cellblocks, including wearing military fatigues instead of prison jumpsuits, and overall, a unit with little to no behavioral issues. In this behind-the-scenes raw footage, military officers who run the cellblock conduct cell inspections to make sure the teens are complying with the rules and commands of the unit. Cells must be spotless and beds perfectly made. Afterward, each teen is also inspected for uniform cleanliness and hygiene standards.

A lot of you guys are confusing this portion of the military prison from the main prison. These are juvenile offenders hoping to get into the military via a good behavior program. Read the description. The main military prison next door is for felony military offenders serving life sentences. Both programs happen at Leavenworth

I was very impressed by the sheer difference in what the officers look for during inspection, between a military prison to a maximum security prison.

Although Correctional Boot Camps appear to be a good concept, research indicates they are not successful at reducing recidivism. Either way, I appreciate your videos.

Bruh imagine living like this fr. I had to do a football camp where they sent us to a national guard bootcamp for a week and we had to do all the “yes sir” stuff and sleep in barracks etc etc, basic military training camp stuff. They even raided us sometimes and we couldn’t use our phones or anything. I did that for a week and I feel like it changed me, imagine doing that for 20 years. You really would be a whole different person

I was assigned prisoner escort duties "chaser" during my active duty. These inspections happen for a reason. The guards can instantly pick out anything out of place after seeing it enough times. I can still glance at a uniform and instantly see unfastened buttons or folds out of place. The difference in THIS place is the incentive to do well. Most don't have a "light at the end of the tunnel" and remain in despair.

You can't move your eyes or head during inspection in a military boot camp 🤣. I think this is a very good program for these kids! They will have an edge over the rest of the recruits once they enter the military that's for sure. These two have zero military bearing though.

I was in the navy for 7 years where I only knew of one person who spent a extended amount of time at the brig ( jail). At least, he was the only one who admitted to it. He got three months for stealing four cartons of cigarettes from the shipboard stores. He said everyday was longer than the day before. I was shocked at how small the brig was at Treasure Island San Francisco. The entire building was about 60x 100ft. I knew several others who got a day or two on the shipboard brigs but I never even knew what it looked like inside.

These aren't bad kids and they deserve another chance! Military will help them get on with life!

These are young folks who need assistance and guidance on how to behave because it did not come from where they grew up. The adults in this video may have been giving them more attention and guidance than they received growing up. I hope these young folk were all able to transition into productive adults. 🙏

Wow this gives me flashbacks to when i was a young homie around 2015 to 2016 i was in the military unit in Pendleton juvenile detention and man it was tough not as goofy as these dudes mocking the sergeants but this unit sure did change me. I was aslo the squad leader so i had to do all the workouts ,yell the cadence and i cant seem to find the documentary on the time i was there but a camera crew aslo came when i was there interviewing the facility.
