    i have one of these and i really enjoy it. it's a handy little carbine. i found when i put the skinner sights scout rail on their it just upped the game even more.

    I was looking at getting one of these rifles, but the magazine was a turn off. I also have a 7.62x39 AR-15, so obviously having magazine cross-compatibility would be a great benefit. Glad to see I can easily convert one to accept the correct magazines.

    A mag conversion that makes sense. Thank you. Nice to see you are not the rip off jerk pushing AK mag conversions for Rugers.

    You just sold this rifle to me for Ruger. I been wanting one for a while, finally found one, & was kind of hesitant because of the price & availability of the mini30 magazines. I have a stack of x39 AR mags already, & you just verified what I'd been contemplating would work or not. Thank you sir, & you just gained me as a subscriber

      Well, shit... I'd better get some more content up then. LOL
      Definitely was my goal when I picked up the rifle, and I"m glad I got the setup. I've heard from some people lately that they've had a tough time getting the support team to send them the part. Let us know how it goes for you.

    Thank you so much for this. I converted my x39 ruger american after watching this and it works well for the most part. You have to chamber the round in very forcefully to not have a hangup which is fine. Hollow points from underwood are a no go unless you put pressure on the front of the magazine. I also trimmed the front of the mag by the feed ramp on the gun and it seemed to help some

      Is it the nose hitting? For me, it seemed to be the Wolf ammo I was using. When I switched over to some brass cased ammo, it fed much more smoothly. I normally shoot 123gr Wolf JHP, and I've not seen any deformation, just feels sticky as I push the round out of the magazine. I've shot a ton of other rounds out of it now too, and I've never had any issues with the bullet hanging, just the case. (I'm the guy that made this video, this is just my personal account instead of the business one.)

    7.62x39 is a AK47 round...I agree with you that C Products makes the best 7.62x39 mag. More people want the Ruger American Ranch in 7.62x39 to use AK magazines.

    • @47productsllc78
      @47productsllc78  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unfortunately, my understanding is that Ruger doesn't make an AK Mag well option... they offer the Mini-30 ones. Since I have 7.62x39 AR Uppers, and the mags, it works for me. Beyond that, I prefer to use a single shot loading tray for my bench shooting with a bolt gun, and it's simple to toss a single shot follower in a short 5 shot AR mag.
      To each their own, I'm just modifying for my own needs and thought I'd share.

    I did this with my 300 blk that had the modular stock but came with the rotary mag. I called ruger and they sent me one no big deal. I sold that rifle and I have a x39 on layaway and I plan on doing the maxwell conversion again since I already have x39 mags already and they are more plentiful and cheaper. I'm surprised I didn't see this video when i was trying a solution before you put this video out I think.. oh well.

    You just sold me on the ruger american x39. I really wanted one but the magazine situation was always a turn off. I don't have any AK AR mags, but they're affordable enough to justify buying 2-3 high capacity mags.

    • @charon79m
      @charon79m ปีที่แล้ว

      C-Products is the AR Mag of choice for me. For both this bolt gun and my commie round ARs, I've not found any that feed better.

  • @Zero089Z
    @Zero089Z 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just took the follower out of the 5 rounder and rounded out the end part of the bullet shape so the bolt would just push it down and go over it when empty so I can single load it. Only did this with the 5 rounder though since I kinda like it on the higher capacity mags.

    There are AK mag weld conversions for this gun so this is just silly to switch from ruger to AR for an AK round. If you are shooting an AK round get the AK magazine

      I love those. Interesting thing about it, The guy who makes them doesn't warranty it but they have worked with my romanian steel magazines, bulgarian polymer magazines, and the supported magpul magazines. However I have an AK in 5.56 as well and a ruger American in 5.56 and they actually worked in my rifle.

  • @8475143117

    I happen to own BOTH Ruger American in 7.62x39 & 5.56x45 (AR magazine type) and yes, the 5.56x45 release button is partially covered just as yours is..
    I first purchased the 7.62x39 and liked it so much that I later purchased the 5.56x45 (AR magazine type). Dang GREAT rifles!!! For my 7.62x39, I just went ahead and bought Pro Mag Ruger Mini-30 7.62X39MM Rifle Magazine from OpticsPlanet which work just fine!

      I am on the lookout for one of these. When you can find them it's near $800. I got a Ruger American Hunter for 650 in 308! But I already have AR47 10, 20 rd mags, so it would be great if I could find one of these in the $400-500.

    I did what you did and it seems to work very well. The one problem is the AR style magazine has too much forward and back play. If I had a 3D printer, or knew someone that does, I'd have a lower made that had about a two inch drop down housing around the magazine well like a regular AR. If someone were to make one, it would sell like crazy. let me know what you think.

    Thanks for testing this out! Apparently this also works with the .450 Ranch, which comes with a non standard, .308 length mag (odd since .450 was designed for AR15s). Does yours still have the "last shot bolt hold open" with the AR mags?

    I just can’t understand why Ruger did not make this rifle to accept AK mags. Most of us that buy it already have tons of 7.62 because we own an ak along with plenty of mags but noooo , Ruger ships with a bs 5 rounder and now wants me to buy mini 30 mags. Bastards. Love the rifle tho...

      Because the profit margins on firearms is very small so companies depend on accessories to make money in order to make this a profitable endeavor. Buying their mags vs comblock AK mags is in their best interest.
