When it comes to Sonic, I'm more of a bigger fan of KEN's Sonic in action since Smash 4 days. But I gotta say, this set was actually exciting and silly to watch, and Sonix was actually playing somewhat oppressive most of the time VS Gackt, which is something I enjoy watching since that's usually something Sonic would actually do.
Also that moment when Sonix tried to B-Air Gackt, but ended up dying from PK Thunder knockback was hilarious lol

Honestly, I like Sonic gameplay. When Sonic and Ken turn up, they turn UP. Love the kill at 25:00.
Sonix is obviously a skilled player, evident by the fact that he's in top 8 at a major, and I can't blame him for playing to his character's strengths, but gosh I hate this character.
No you can't blame him for the character, but you can blame him for wanting to play the character

But Sonix plays a cheesy game and he's literally the only Sonic main most of us have a reference to... the bottom line here is that no one likes to be camped out and to see that at a high level pisses a lot of people off.

The fact that the character who's only design philosophy is "go fast" is the slowest most boring character in the game is sad

Skill issue
I was hyped the last few games and nothing gonna make me feel bad about that
I will say the fact that the "fastest" character in the game feels slower to watch against someone like Fox shows alot about Sonics Design and it is sad to see the better player lose (Sonix still the best Sonic tho)
EDIT: You can keep the takr on Gackt being the better player in my questionable track record lmao

The Sonic hater salt is palpable. What a phenomenal match between two absolutely fantastic players (that would absolutely wash all the whiners here!). This set was so intense for those guys and the entire crowd- respect to both players. 🙌 💯 Entertaining as hell.

This sonic was good others just camp.
In Sonix’s defense a bag is a bag but I cannot excuse the snooze fest that is his play style.
He still had some great plays. He uses his characters best attribute, his SPEED. Can’t hate on him for that. No one hates on kazuyas for spamming/using EWGF when it’s just as annoying and hard to deal with

...lmao so many weird people saying sonic sucks, hes boring to watch and is a cringy playstyle? More like hes super fun to watch, play and they designed him really well imo. Im glad they gave him some good speed and made him balanced imo. (In smash 4 I agree he was OP but not in ultimate).
i wouldn’t say they designed him well. He’s had the pretty much the same kit since brawl and even then he was a rushed character, as for watching, sometimes he is just depends who’s playing him. I like to play himself tho, he’s fun
even after playing sonic for 1200 hours ive never had homing attack lock on from that deep below stage. is that a ness using yoyo specific thing at 27:16?
1 he reaches his hitbox down with the yo-yo
2 Sonic’s tracking reaches farther when facing his opponent and has decent tracking when they stand by the ledge
Honestly I like slower paced matches, sometimes they're a nice change of pace compared to fast action
However, spin dash literally had the most obnoxious sound effects in the entire game, which is why sonic is the only character I hard pass on whatching
I'm admittedly very salty, I wanted Gackt to win it all, but he gets cheesed by this dork. Sonix is like Joffrey from GOT, nobody likes him because we all intrinsically know a lame when we see one

15:21 this should be nerfed somehow, it shouldn't let you be so mobile while charging it, it's a kill move that's safe on shield has next to no end lag lets you dodge while charging it and always combos into something or kills you upright if it hits. That'd be like if Zelda's phantom had a homing capability and Zelda could move while charging it and hitting her wouldn't make it go away
If Zelda could do that it would be Nasty
No it wouldn't be like that, Zelda's Phantom is a disjoint unlike sonic hurling his body at you. His hurtbox is still there so you can challenge the move
