I've since moved up to an E87 130i which is quite a bit of fun, but I missed the E46 platform and just bought myself a cheap E46 320i 2.2 Touring. Should receive a B30 at some point in the future :)

Yeah, that’s the only problem with these cars.. They are getting old now and a lot of them were abused at one point. Finding a clean example is very difficult!

I have the same spring as you and recently combined them with Bilstein B8's, those are designed for lowered cars. Your car will feel/handle a lot better with those shocks (i have a 325ci e46). A good thing to do is to also buy reinforcement plates/pieces for the top bits of the suspension for extra strenght
Yes, this would be the right combination. I bought the car with these springs already on them and just left it like it was. This is definitely on the list!
@@OGBemfa Have you already taken a look at your subframe? Does your car have foldable rear seats? if it has then the chance is big you will get cracks in the body above the rear subframe/div. Might be an idea to check it, weld some plates in and while youre at it put some powerflex bushings in instead of rubber. i added a racing diffs 25% progressive lock dif in the standard oem dif so now its a sort of LSD
@@josephsu95 I know about the subframe issues. I did take a look under the car - seems fine for now (although most of the time you can't see the cracks due to undercoating). I was planning to weld the plates and add poly bushings in the rear but tbh I rather focus on my E30 project. E46 is my daily at the end of the day and I don't drift or track it, so for normal street use it should be fine. If it lasted 23 years, then it should last for a couple of more years of my ownership haha.
Hi, great scenary. How do you find the Kumho p71's? I assume you have 255 40 18 on the rear and 225 35 18 on the front? I do about 2k miles a year and want a cheap option. These seem to hold your car on the damp twisties well.
@@davidwren5222 Hi! I have 225/40 18 on the front and 255/35 18 on the rear. I haven’t tried any other tires other than winter ones on this car, so I don’t have a reference point, but in my opinion they have very very good grip in the dry and in the wet. Also very predictable as well.

Yeah they do look good on an E46! Depends on what you want - E92s are great but the only engine that I would consider buying is N52/53 B30, but this engine in combination with a nice exterior/interior spec is really rare!
@@markgoudsblom Having had both chassis and engines in quick succession (E46 330Ci and E87 130i, both manual and M-Sport), the E87 with the N52 is just so much quicker. N52s just like M54s are very sensible in terms of VANOS and DISA, when I got my 130i it didn't feel any quicker than the 330Ci despite having 40 hp more and weighing about the same. I did a bunch of preventative maintenance to it and that woke it up massively! There's a few videos of it on my channel. IMO the N52 is very close in character to the E36's S50 Euro, while the M54 is definitely more tame. The E92 will be a lot more expensive to run, parts are more expensive and there's more of them. The E92 is much quicker both in a straight line and in the corners too, the E46 has more character. The E92 feels like a modern BMW, the E46 feels like an old BMW. Definitely a big difference. Drive both and make your decision!
Thank you! It’s exactly 8L/100km on the highway, about 9 on open roads, 10-11 in the city. I have about 9.2 combined on average. But… this car is super sensitive when it comes to consumption! You can drive like a grandma and you can probably get 6l average on open roads, but if you just go full throttle out of every corner then expect the number to double 😆

@@joroboga8503 They are regular ones. Unfortunately they don’t work very well with the lowering springs. I have one mic placed directly in front of the air filter box and the other above the exhaust in the rear. Thanks!
I like very very fast cars but what's the point if u cannot exploit it. Thts where these cheap fun car comes into play on back roads u just need them to perfectly setup. who needs 10000 plus hp supercars and the thing is most ppl cannot buy supercars

@sheluvkaraitzz316 I got my bmw 330ci from nz and its a good country to get a car from as don't have salt on the roads. Road surface can be a problem with loose stone chips type roads.
At what rpm is the engine running in Last Gear at 130/140 km/h? I want to buy an e46 330i but im Not Sure If i need a 6 Speed or If 5 Speed ist enough. Often i do longer Trips on the german Autobahn. I dont want to screw the engine. Also it would be very impensive to Swap a 6 Gear trans in it. Thanks!
At 130 km/h, the engine runs at about 3200 RPM, and at 140 km/h, at 3400 RPM. A 6th gear would definitely be nice to have. It's not uncomfortable to drive, but if you're planning on taking longer trips frequently, I’d recommend that you go for a 6-speed model. However, the 5-speed pre-facelift version does look better than a 6-speed facelift haha.
For now, it's just an iPhone 13 Pro, tied to the headrest! But I'm getting a GoPro and a correct mount soon, so the position and quality should improve with the next video!

@@euro7701 No, it’s completely stock. I have 3 mics for recording the sound - one in the cabin, one infront of the air filter and one next to the exhaust at the back. That’s why the sound of the intake is so pronounced on the video 😃

@@OGBemfa Yeah same situation, the stock shocks arent designed for lowered cars so the handling will be awkward sometimes
