      Get the waders on mate and look for them spots I've mentioned and just take your time and search the river beds and bank sides 💪🏻💪🏻

    Thank you Tony, I have been asking ppl for ages how do I start with this, my 10 year old son is desperate to start detectoring and mudlarking after finding a bottle stopper from 1917 and what we think are musket shots in our local burn as we were looking for stones, but no matter who I have asked do we need a license up here and how do we find places to get started, no one has answered me. Bout time somebody did a vid on how to start in this hobby. I look forward to the next instalment. Thank you again 😊.
    Ps even if you did loose some footage I still found this extremely informative 😊

      @charliemum ah I'm so happy this helped you out a little. I've had so many asking questions and I've promised id get something together to show the difference in the types of methods and where to look and search. And lost 80% of it all. But I'll do them again on bottle dump digging to mudlarking the Tyne and tidal Rivers.. this coverd streams i think from what I retrieved and the video before this one also is me showing alot of how to go on.. but hey it sounds like you and your son smashing it already 💪🏻💪🏻 if you finding artifacts from 1917 and especially musket shots. Your onto a good spot 💯💯💯 saying we use is follow the source to the mother load.. so bit bottles bits of pottery would of always came from up stream. So follow them until you find where a bank side is slowly eroding away and you can see stoneware glass bottles marbles cups anything like that then get a garden fork and pull some of that bank side out.. other way in rivers is basically using a garden soil sifter and sift through river beds finding coins pipe stems bottle stoppers etc. But your doing well and anything I can help with then please just ask. But previous videos will help you loads too. Good luck and may the river treasure gods be looking down on you both 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻💚

      @Toon-Tony thank you so much, it was actually the river Don in shields, we found the stuff in, it was just sitting at the edge of the water , pretty sure they are musket shots n the bottle top was from newcastle breweries limited . The river Don turns into a burn right next to my house and I know this estate used to be a victorian dump too so I assume they've just eroded out the bank . We plan to look more closely once the weather clears a bit 😁.
      Thank you very much for all the info, you have definitely given us a great place to start 😊 , gl on all your adventures we very much look forward to seeing them 😀.

    Could i ask where abouts are you. Im in walker and looking for a good walk for bottles. I know of one next to me but have to dig 😂 x

    • @Toon-Tony
      @Toon-Tony  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Alreet lass. Aye I know loads but really you need to dig. If it's larking you after your best off looking around rocky areas of the Tyne at low tide or anywhere at low tide.. Howdon gutt is canny at low tide just need wellys.. stream larking with a bucket rake or magnet you can do any of newcastles in places like Jesmond. But tell you where to go mate is down the Ouseburn at low tide and start off just up from the Clooney bar. Walk straight in just beside the wooden bridge down the cobbles.. walk either way it's a nice safe place to get some nice finds.. good luck and just be careful don't go alone and if you do just tell someone where you at. Happy hunting 🖤🤍x

      Thanks for the reply 😊 do you know about the bottle dump at walker stables. Give it a try if not. You can get at it on the black track or jump the fence from the stable field.x

    • @Toon-Tony
      @Toon-Tony  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @MudmonsterMetalDetecting no problem and yeah I got permission from stable owners to dig and metal detect the place. But was mostly 1930s 40s but I had some massive holes in that place and you can get some nice poison bottles around 10 foot down. Metaldetecting is all king george 5th and his son george 6th nothing to old. Been a few years mind since I've been there I'm guessing it's been hammerd the old railway side of it. I'm now up Northumberland got loads of permission on farm lands up there and some in Stannington.. but I have a couple local to Newcastle as well but Northumberland is my best fields I've had Roman early medieval hammerd coins to gold. Love all the different hobbys from on land and sea.. mix up over different times of year. Especially when farmers fields in crop the rivers is my play ground.. its a shame as wallsend gold course been getting dug out all last year we had 10s of thousands of bottles all early victorian and many many rare as hens teeth stone gingers.. all dug out now like but if you looking for somewhere to dig for bottles let me know ill put you onto 1 or 2. Nee worries at all

    You can cut those broken bottles into drinking cups! Saves the embossing and still usable and a piece of history!
