Two thoughts. First Nicola had you been born before the second world war you would have been the RAFs premier photo interpreter. The way you can spot such tiny objects amazes me. The second is how fortunate we were that George VI became monarch. Not only was he and the Queen Mother examples of courage in a dark time but they gave us our beloved Queen Elizabeth. The news reel was a treat.

When Tom related his 14th century buckleplate find to Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales it created such a broad historical setting to a tiny find in the mud. This association of a find with a period is what I most enjoyed about this video.

I loved hearing Tom's excited sharing of his passion for the history and geology of the Thames and the many other rivers now hidden. How fitting that he found that medal from the rowing competition!
And, as always, Nicola, your kindness and curiosity are so refreshing, especially these days! And your squirrel buddy sealed it!

#Londonclay Thank you Nicola and Tom for this fantastic and informative video. Apart from yourself Nicola I also found Tom to be one of the most interesting and inspiring people I’ve ever been fortunate to watch on TH-cam. I felt myself mesmerised by his passionate explanations of his finds thanks again. Much love to you Nicola as always xx

Love going down to the foreshore “with you.” Tom is a very interesting person. Loved his stories and enthusiasm. My latest adventure was a trip to a dark sky observatory in the mountains of North Carolina. I was able to see stars, planets, nebula at the outdoor observatory. While you were looking down, I was looking up! 🙂 Margaret Harris, Columbia, SC. #LondonClay

Well you know what they say about people looking down and looking up. One sees stars the other sees dirt. Keep looking up! It's the best place to look really! xoxox
