    Fun fact, not only were these tuned 30 cents sharp, they were specially tuned by Bob Swanson (creator of the Airchime horn)

      @myles3898 ปีที่แล้ว

      do you know which note in specific is tuned sharp? in the video they said the second note, but that could mean on a paino or the bells themselves.

    Tri-Rail's first batch of cars is not from GOT, but was originally built for someone using the GOT Livery. You can tell as all of GO’s use 575 Volts for HEP, while Tri-Rails have always used 480V HEP.

    • @superbaddy4
      @superbaddy4  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tri-Rail simply converted them to their own HEP Frequency. Remember that three of them actually indeed are GO Coaches, but they run with Tri-Rail on their Voltage.

    Great video on the K5LAs. Also, remember when you told me to get Krysztoff next? Well, finally after weeks of waiting for my parents to stop putting it off, they finally decided to help me order him. But I got Sudeep about 6 or more weeks ago, and we ordered him two extra weeks before that. But the sale doesn't have Krysztoff anymore. Dang it!!! waited all this time for nothing. Tom W. is still available but then I saw that the $12 sale for Rev stil exists, but we're having trouble ordering him. Why does online shopping have to be so flipping hard? We tried calling eBay for help and we can't even get any person on the line... And yet some people still say online shopping is the future.

  • @RailfanDaniel
    @RailfanDaniel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oddly enough, 219, 221, 222 did not have true K5LA's. The rarely produced 3L bell is in place of the 3A. The 3L is now known as the 3B and is standard on K5CA-LS horns. I don't believe the horns on 219, 221, 222 had official designations, so otherwise they could just be called hybrid K5LA's. You can tell these don't have 3A's because the note is about a full step too sharp, and otherwise is playing a Dominant 7th chord.
    The 2 bells on 201 and 218 (first clip) are playing about 70 cents sharp, and are basically playing a combined Minor 7th/Major 7th chord, or discord if you will, since G and G# are clashing notes. Strange, but older 2 bells have been known to sometimes play up to a full step sharp.

    • @superbaddy4
      @superbaddy4  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your input. I was wondering what set those horns apart from the others.
      Also, if I make a second part to this, would you be ok if I used your audio of 214 you filmed at St. Catherines back in 2010? (You will obviously be credited in the description)

    • @RailfanDaniel
      @RailfanDaniel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@superbaddy4 Go right ahead. I also have a recording of 246 from my July 2009 Niagara Falls trip.
      I should mention that 200-214 had K5LA's with big bore 5 bells. These 5 bells with larger throats were often the loudest bell on the horn. You can hear 214's 5 bell dominating in my recording. LocalRailfan's video of him blasting a GO cabcar K5LA features the same thing. The recording you included of 210 also has it.

    • @superbaddy4
      @superbaddy4  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shame it's really hard to find audio of the Hawker Cab Cars' K5LAs, since they all got replaced with K5CA-LSs so much earlier than the others. Besides the ones already here, the only other ones I could find were 207 and 208. There's also another one I can't use since I can't figure out whether it's 205 or 206.

    • @superbaddy4
      @superbaddy4  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I gave your audio of 246 a good listen, and I'll definitely say it's better than the mere 2 second clip I had of it before. And overall, I'll definitely say it is one of the better GO K5LAs, as most of the 2006-built Cabs (246 to 250) are.
      Do you regret having not filmed any more GO K5LAs besides just 214 and 246 while you still could?
      I didn't exactly find LocalRailfan's audio of the GO Big Bore. Is it the one that isn't specified if it's GO or not? I did find he filmed a good sample of 227, though.

    • @superbaddy4
      @superbaddy4  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only UTDC that ever had a K5CA-LS (at least as far as I know) was 222.
      None of 242 through 250 ever had K5CAs.

    • @AVeryRandomPerson

      @Superbaddy4 My design is to just put the CEM where the Railfan seat and row behind the cab is. The only noticeable differences would be a single front window and lack of windows behind the cab. The design was based off the CEM coaches, which are fine. The cab would be at the mid-level

    • @superbaddy4
