From my personal experience I wouldn't weld the expanded metal to the ramp. For a couple of reasons. I use bolts to attach it so it's lighter to move easier and when it's transported to a event everything needed for the ramps like the airbag, the blower for the airbag, generator/welder, tools and whatever else you need is inside the frame of the ramp and the expanded metal is the sides of the ramp during transporting and helps keep anyone from walking away with anything. It works out great and the landing ramp is built on a trailer for transport and the bikes and everything else that you might need goes under the landing ramp and is secured makes life a lot easier

Its actually called expanded metal and it's annoyingly expensive!! Type in expanded metal to Google and you'll find companies selling it.
