We saw Goo Goo Dolls back in 2009 on NYE in Atlantic City. My wife was pregnant with our first child.. He is now turning 15 and has always had an affinity to their music. Last night we saw them again in Memphis at the Radians Amphitheater, and the show was awesome. John and Robby can still rock.. Great band with timeless music..

I was there! I was 12 years old, we went on a ski trip with my family. I remember the band saying goodbye because the guitar player couldn't hold his fingers because of the cold !!!!
What a fantastic performance!!! It would be a dream to see them live here in Chile (or at least, let me save enough to go to the U.S. for it :') ). Long life the GGD!!!

Ok, this is a band from BUFFALO and they have layered up and wearing hats, boots, etc it must have been in the negative "real feel" temps. Who planned this concert? Sort of crazy on the part of the show producers, but the band rocked it!

@@nightshiftband Kinda take offense at the term "mom rock" especially with GGD who have fans of all genders and ages. There are three generations of people loving this band. John has millions of male fans, for his songs with heart, honesty, melody; and unique, virtuoso guitar playing.

Am I the only one who thinks they should have stopped putting out new music after LET LOVE IN in 06? IMO they have lost everything they stood for over the last few records.Used to love their unbelievably good songwriting, their honest lyrics. Unfortunately, they're now just another cheesy Pop act. That's not me putting them down, I wish them all the best. This is just a disappointed fan speaking his mind. They havent put out a song as good as Black Balloon or Here Is Gone in almost 15 years...
I totally see your point, Kim. And don't get me wrong, it's not about the sound evolving. It is about the songwriting which in my opinion turned into a more cheesy and less moving vrsion of what Rzeznik used to write. This is not about using keyboards and synths on a song. It's about the song. So, if anything, IMO they have taken two steps back in terms of songwriting. GGD were always about having the most touching melodies and most honest lyrics. Now, the lyrics might still be honest, it just doesn`t get me the way the old songs too. And I am sure I am not the only one thinking that way =)
I haven't left he Goo Goo Dolls behind, I still love their older stuff and keep coming back to all the records including Let Love In. They just took a path that didn't make me follow, I guess. Glad you're rediscovering them though!
I must say, I think you are the only one. Their earlier songs are good, but the new songs are even better. The new songs have very deep meanings. Listen to Over and Over, Better Days, Not Broken and Soldier for instance. These songs touch on deeper issues and makes one think. In my opinion, the Goo Goo Dolls clearly grew into an even more awesome band than what they were when I discovered them in 90's. Maybe you are not changing? Maybe you are stuck in the past?
I do not think it's possible for a performer to play or sing the way they want to in this obviously freezing your butt off weather. It must have been in the negative temps at this night-time show. Who produced this? I've never seen so many freezing cold people at a concert.
