Here's a look at my 55 gallon planted aquarium before and after a water change and filter maintenance. I also added some new fish to the planted tank.

That's a nice Angel fish. Orange face, cool.
I love those before an after.

Dan, your videos always make my day, and you should try to put some hatchet fish in that tank, they would look really cool

Try the asian hatchet fish, a rasbora hatchet.

Looks great. Why don't you do a couple of treatments for the algae and maybe that will kill it all now.

Dan why did you wait that long for it to grow that big? What if you wipe the tank clean and introduce 20 - 30 Amani shrimp with some big 🐌

G'day Dan, from Australia. Have you thought about a couple of small American Flagfish. They eliminated hair algae outbreak in a couple of days. I find them somewhat agro when larger, which has to be considered, but they are still awesome . I believe I have all males, so no doubt a couple of females would be less boisterous. Enjoying your videos. Thanks. Cheers

I've thought about moving my pair from my Office Tank to this tank. They're kind of aggressive in there, so I'm afraid they'll be fin nippers on the gourami.

@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly Yes, I agree, definitely a concern. I have never had any luck getting females over here in Australia. So have never seen juveniles, only 3 inch plus fish. I imagine The Juveniles will become 3 inch agro fish pretty quickly. But man, do they destroy hair algae. Cheers

Use a shopvac...the suction is stronger and faster!

    Swordtails eat hair algae

Perhaps a few mollies would help your problem.

Floating plants will out compete the algae.

Best ways to reduce algae is to cut back food amounts, cut back light amount, do more frequent water changes 10-20%. Add more agitation in the tank. If that doesn't work, try 3 days of complete darkness, seal the tank to as much light as you can block. You fish will survive three days without feeding. Add some shrimps to your tank. If all else fails do a H2O2 treatment. Mark's Shrimp Tanks did a video on how to do it safely by proportions to tank volume. I'll link his video to this comment. Remember always err on the lesser side of H2O2 use.

Guppies are not that good on algae.. Mollies are better I am told..my large angel is fine with any fish over very young fry size..I started to get some black algae lucky enough its on the plants that have reached the top of the tank so I can just cut it off..but I cut down on lighting and feeding..will see if that works

I had a pair of three spot gouramis in my 55 gallon tank and they killed off my dwarf gouramis and my chocolate gouramis., Just giving you a heads up. The Three Spot and their morphs are highly aggressive and they will bully any smaller gourami species.
