Hey, I’ve Bowhunted Whitetails since the 1980’s. It’s pretty well known that they will attack you. I do everything I can to minimize that likelihood. However, I have the means to protect myself if one attacks me.
Deer are also quite susceptible to all kinds of diseases which can make their actions very unpredictable.
I had a buck that had 2 females next to it that I didn't notice right away in the back yard. That monster came for me with no fear. Biggest buck I ever saw. I made it into the house.
Glad it worked out for the guys. The deer fight scene in this made me lol.
There was a story like this in the local paper when I lived in Colorado in the 90s. A guy had a sort of small box canyon behind his house and there was a smallish young buck with some does, and the buck attacked him and he held it off as long as he could and then ended up climbing a tree and yelling for help and someone else shot it. Keep in mind deer evolved to fight off wolves, coyotes, and each other. They're no pushovers and sometimes they're just kind of crazy.

Unfortunately people feed deer in the cemetery a block from my house. Eventually I guess one of them is gonna kill someone visiting a loved ones grave. Then all of them will have to be shot and removed.

I hand feed all types of animals. In the process now with a badger.

Old guy seems to know alot about deer in the wild, yet doesn't have enough brains to act accordingly when encountered, for that, this animal lost its life. What a shame.
