That was really interesting, 🙆♂️. What kind of wood did you use for the button mould? Looks like some kind of semi hard wood ! Excellent work, thanks 🙆♂️. Btw, is there an alternative to liver of sulphur? J🙋🏻♂️
I was using hard oak, and it seems to work pretty well. There may be some alternative, but you can also simply use a sealed container, and put your silver in on a stand, while crushing up a boiled egg in the other side of the container. The sulphur in the boiled egg is enough to do the trick, though it takes longer since it is not in direct contact like the liquid.
@@fgstacker Well I assure you I have no experience with casting. But I have experience with consolidating concrete. So I googled it. Consolidating the Sand is done after or while putting the Model in the Sand/Frame.
@@TobaccoRowe1960 Ah got you. I'm basically following what Silver Punk has shown. Using a wire mesh to make sure the sand is fine to get into the nooks and cranies, then after adding more on top, using a hammer to pack it down tight. I then use an old trowel to scrape off the excess above the rim of the mould.
I’m living vicariously through all of you who pour. Steady hands is no longer a thing for me so I just watch.
Thanks for watching Michi :)

I was sorry I lost the "fractal" part when using the press. I will have to see what I can do to adjust that to maybe retain some more detail.

What did you do for consolidating the Sand.
I bought casting sand, so it's already set to go.
