Yes to watching the whole thing. And also the reason he pronounces things differently such as the sounds of "DO" in 30/90 is because that's how Jonathan Larson sand it when performing live
I love how, when you put them side by side, Andrew Garfield didn't just sing well, he portrayed Jon Larson perfectly. For someone who has never dipped his toes into musical theatre at all, he didn't just learn how to sing and play the piano, he learned to ACT through his singing in a way that perfectly emulates Jon. It's beautiful to watch.
Absolutely! I didn’t know anything about what this movie was and when I did research on how he imitated him with look and mannerism, it made me appreciate it all that much more 🥰
YES watch the whole thing. It is SO good -- he literally trained to sing for this movie, and it was EXCELLENT. And yeah, the way "do" was is a deliberate, stylistic choice. That doesn't mean it's good for the voice, but it was on purpose, lol
1. YES you should totally watch the movie, it's so well done! one of the best musical adaptations ever (in my opinion) 2. there is a longer version of therapy without the dialogues in between, I love that song so much and it's been stuck in my head for weeks 3. no, Andrew Garfield doesn't have a musical background, this was his first time professionally singing and he started taking voice lessons a year before shooting the movie 4. Lin Manuel Miranda has done such an amazing job in directing this movie 5. there are sooo many easter eggs and cameos and references in the movie, it's a literal dream for every theatre kid!
100% watch the entire movie, it’s stunning and definitely react to every song!! Specifically the full 30/90, Come to Your Senses, Why and Louder than Words! Also Andrew literally learned how to sing for this role, it’s genuinely mind blowing that he’s never sung professionally before. He’s incredible.
Yes,can’t wait to see your reaction, would love to see more reactions to the songs from Tick Tick Boom, especially Johnny Can’t Decide because I feel like it’s really underrated
Yes watch the whole movie, it’s phenomenal. Andrew Garfield definitely deserves an Oscar. And lin did amazing, it’s hard to believe it was his first time directing.
Gotta watch the whole thing! It was my favorite musical of 2021 and in my top 5 ever. Johnny Can’t Decide is absolutely fantastic and every song is just so good!
Apparently this was Andrew's first time really singing, and he did a fantastic job! You should 100% watch the movie...it's AMAZING! Be warned that you'll likely feel all kinds of emotions though!
YES! You should review the WHOLE movie. Particularly Why and Louder than words! Come to your senses to hear vanessa really sing! TTB is amazing. Andrew deserves an oscar!
the pain in my chest when i realized you chose the 30/90 video that doesn't have the whole song.....PLEASE!! react to the whole movie. andrew learned to sing for this role and spent over a year taking lessons which i feel like is the perfect thing for a vocal coach to react to! there are also multiple songs that were filmed with live vocals and aren't replaced in the movie (boho days, why) please consider doing the whole movie or even just reacting to those other two songs since they are live vocals.
Same. It really pulls the full punch out of the song when you only listen to half of it. At the same time I prefer something like this happening over those reactors that are just pretending to react to something for the first time. Vocal coach or not.
I loved this movie so much. And what I love about listening to Jonathan Larson's other songs is you can hear his musical "fingerprint". You can hear how all of his songs have this like signature of his. From Rent to Suburbia and then Tick Tick Boom. They all have this very distinct sound. I just find it so cool to hear that!
1. You should absolutely do a full movie reaction. (bring tissues and like...a handful of existential crisis asprin. Lol). and 2. Nope! Andrew doesn't have a history in musical theatre. ...but he had Liz Caplan as a personal coach/trainer for like a whole year. He learned how to sing and trained like crazy for this role.
Heck yes, watch the entire movie. TTB was directed in a really unique way-pretty chaotic-which (I think) reflects the chaotic creative process that happens in Larson’s mind. Andrew Garfield made me a huge fan of his with his performance. Watch. It.
Andrew had no previous singing or piano experience prior to this film, and actually trained for a year to learn how to sing and play the piano for this role, on top of that, in his first ever musical work he's singing as a specific person, a real person, with similar tones to that person and with an American accent, he's truly amazing. You really should watch the film.
Yes, yes, yes!!!! After waiting years to see someone - ANYONE - do Tick Tick Boom, they make a film that is more a perfect love letter to Musical Theatre writers an performers than anything I’ve seen. An emotional roller coaster ! Please, you MUST react to it in its entirety 🙂
It's so surprising to hear this and then find out that Andrew only had a year of singing lessons to prepare specifically for this movie! You should definitely watch the whole thing. The movie is so good and there are so many other amazing songs!
Please react to the whole film! It's a love letter to musical theatre in general and especially artists. There are TONS of Broadway cameos it's so fun to watch the movie just for that. But the movie is incredible, made me sob and laugh and has amazing music. Andrew Garfield is just perfection as Larson and it's so impressive he had never sung professionally before this. I do think a lot of his vowel choices have to do with him trying to do an American accent. I've noticed when British singers try to keep an American accent the vowels can often get too wide. I noticed it in the first song of the movie (30/90), but it wasn't as noticeable later on. Also the second half of 30/90 is even better!
Should totally watch the movie! Andrew did an amazing job portraying Jonathan Larson. Music was excellent and a truly captivating movie. Would highly suggest ♥️
This is the first time that Andrew Garfield was involved with music. And now he definitely needs to sing more often. Also, YES watch the whole movie! It´s amazing.
I do wonder if a vocal coach or musical director can tell if a person has singing potential just by how they breath and scream. Lin Manuel Miranda saw Andrew in this 8 hour play called Angels in America. Then not long after signed him up to play the role and hooked him with vocal Coach Liz Caplan. I’m just shocked that a director would hire an actor with no musical background to lead a musical. Is there something that experienced coaches use to tell that someone can sing just by watching and listening to them?
Hannah! I would absolutely love to hear your take on some kind of "Celebrities you didn't know could sing" type video, I think you could offer a really unique take on it and your personality is incredible. Love all your content, keep it up!! :)
The movie is amazing, like i wasn't expecting anything really, and it impressed me. The music is awesome and the story is about Jonathan Larson (composer and writer of Rent) and his journey. It's so enthralling and beautiful and cool and fun and deep.... You should definitely watch it, it's such a treat for musical fans.
Yes, you should definitely watch and react to all of Tick Tick Boom! It's absolutely phenomenal! Also, that clip of 30/90 was only the first half of the song! The second half has a lot more dynamics and harmonies, which I know you love!
I'd love if you could react to the entire movie! Andrew Garfield did such an amazing job considering he didn't have previous training before this movie! Lin even threw a shoe at Andrew when he realized Andrew could sing!
PLEASE react to the whole thing! It will be so worth it! “Louder than Words” and “Why” are my favorites. And I love that Andrew learned to sing and play piano for this! And his gf in the movie, played by Alexandra Shipp, she’s a Marvel alum too; she used to play Storm!
Watch the whole movie!! It's amazing!! Also, Andrew learnt how to sing because of this movie, he didn't have much training before - that shows how much of an amazing professional he is :)
Yes can’t wait to see your reaction to the full movie as some great songs missed in this and the second half of 30/90 is great as well but great video as always ❤️
It’s sad when you realize how hard Jonathan was working from 1985 straight to 1995 and then he died unfortunately and during that entire time he was producing songs creating hit musicals and just pushing himself and I love that he was able to do so much in just 10 years but again I feel like he didn’t have time to really take time and rest and chill and appreciate what he was doing because he died when he was so young 35 and he died the day before his musical rent first showed it was all so sad rip Jonathan you have made some a awesome musicals and you really did your best 🥺🥺🥺🥺
You should absolutely watch the whole movie! Even if you don't react to the whole thing, it's such a beautifully made film and I think everyone should watch it at least once. Also Andrew Garfield apparently learned how to sing for this movie, which makes it even more impressive 😊
You should listen to Why from Tick Tick Boom, Andrew sings live in the scene and you can really hear the emotion in his voice. I think it's one of the best ones from the movie. Or Louder Than Words.
You should watch the whole move. It is a really powerful movie that in my opinion does a really good job of showing the terror for the future and what Jonathan Larson's life was like. They even created an exact replica of his apartment for the movie. Not to mention, the songs are really catchy. Also, it is a pretty sad movie, while it is still somehow upbeat. Overall, in my opinion the songs are really good, the portrayal by the sets and the actors and actresses (especially Andrew Garfield) were spot on, and they had a really good balance of certain points throughout the movie.
I watched it just because I heard a small clip of 'Therapy' and I thought it sounded really good and I recognized the actors and actresses. Now it is one of my favorite movies and I truly think it is a masterpiece. Also, there are some pretty big names from different movie stars, producers, Broadway stars, big directors.
The fact that Andrew Garfield learned how to both sing and play piano for this role still blows my mind + pretty please react to the whole movie you will absolutely love it
Please watch the whole thing. There are so many good performances. I was so excited to see you reacting to even just a couple songs I would LOVE for you to react to the whole movie. PS the notification for this video is what motivated me to leave work on time. Thank you for that.
Yes, yes you absolutely should watch the whole thing (yours is the reaction I’ve been waiting for since this movie came out!!!) Andrew worked with a vocal coach for over a year before filming because he’d never sung prior to this… plus all his affectations etc emulating how Jon pronounced and sung things… just… chef’s kiss. He holds his own and even outsings the professionals in this movie! No wonder he got an Oscar nom this morning.
Yes! I have been anticipating this so much! Also you have to read the plot I know you will be so intrigued by the plot! And I wasn’t sure how Andrew would be and he absorbs the role and killed it. Thanks for the smile Hannah! 💜
Watch it fully!! The performance of Sunday needs to be watched as well as heard. There are like 25 Broadway LEGENDS singing it with him. I cried. It’s so beautiful.
You absolutely do need to watch the entire movie. It is incredible. I've been a fan of this show since I heard the off-Broadway recording in the mid-2000s and this movie more than surpassed my expectations. Andrew Garfield gives one of the best performances of the year. And I've probably watched the movie at least four times since it dropped in November. I wish that the entirety of 30/90 was on TH-cam, because that is just a fraction of how good that number is (it's the opening of the movie and sets the bar so high). So, please please please watch and react to the entire movie!
You should definitely do the whole movie, it's one of the best movie musicals of the past 10 years tbh you could tell that everyone involved had such a respect for the source material and the other works of Larson and Sondheim
andrew actually learned to sing and play piano for this role! i hope now this means he’ll do more singing in the future! also yes you should absolutely react to the whole movie it’s a masterpiece
Yes!!! PLEASE watch the whole thing you will love it! Andrew put so much care into playing Jonathan and it is just fascinating to hear Andrew sing!!!!!
I’ve been waiting so long for this video and I’m so happy 😊. I feel like you should definitely react to more songs like “Come to your senses”, “Sunday” and also the song “Why” cause Andrew had to sing that live. It’s unbelievable that he learned how to sing and play piano for this. That man’s talent blows me away every time. Thanks for reacting ❤️
Definitely watch the whole movie. It’s really great and serves as a wonderful tribute to Jonathan Larson. Andrew Garfield is absolutely stunning in it as well.
The songs play a lot better in context with the film, and the story it’s trying to tell, so would definitely recommend a full watch and reaction. Lin Manuel Miranda’s directorial debut too after all.
PLEASE WATCH THE WHOLE MOVIE I GOT SO EXCITED WHEN I SAW YOU WERE REACTING (I honestly thought it was for the full thing) BUT PLEASE I NEED YOU SEEING THIS WHOLE THING IN MY LIFE
Andrew worked with voice teacher Liz Caplan for about a year before filming Tick, Tick, Boom in order to sing it. This is his first forte doing a musical (he's done numerous plays before). And yes, you should watch the entire film. :)
This is definitely a movie you should react to plus I think you'll like it. Lin-Manuel wanted Andrew for Larson so Andrew went and learned how to sing and play the piano for this. I think he embodies Larson so much. If you love Rent, you love Johnathan Larson.
Yes! you absolutely should watch the whole movie it's amazing! also he's said he learned how to sing and play piano just for this role! took about a year he's amazing
YES! Watch the whole thing, or at least the whole 30/90 song because honestly it only gets BETTER as the clip goes! Personal favorites from the movie: 30/90, Come to Your Senses, Johnny Can't Decide and Therapy.
My high school did Tick Tick Boom back in like 2008? And I’ve been mildly obsessed with it since. I restarted my Netflix subscription for the sole purpose of watching this movie and thoroughly enjoyed it.
You know the moment when you know someone's voice is objectively good, like they can definitely sing, but the voice just doesn't do it for you - that's Vanessa Hudgens for me. I don't know what it is, because she is good
YEP sorry but no matter how I hard I try I can't like her. Like I love the songs from hsm but every time it was her part I'd have a harder time enjoying it. I think for me one of the things is she sings in a really "nasal" way and her tone can be overly bright (whereas I prefer it to be darker and warmer). This totally fit for the "therapy" song but other times it's distracting. Like I love alexandra shipps voice in come to your senses but then vanessa comes in and I'm like ehh. Even though she kills the high notes. It's funny cause my mom said the same thing after watching tick tick boom. "I just really don't like her voice". So I don't think it's an unpopular thought.
I feel the same way about Sutton Foster. People rave about her. She has won a Tony, and originated multiple roles. I can objectively say she's very talented (she sings, dances, and acts), but I can't stand her! I find her voice to be incredibly irritating.
PLZ WATCH THE WHOLE THING ITS AMAZING OMG. But seriously it funny, it’s sad, I love the music, I would love to see your reaction to some of the other songs! Especially the superbia ones!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY WATCH THE WHOLE THING there’s so much more to the story than what you just saw and you’ll appreciate the songs so so so much more. I thought it was going to be a light background watch for me but I have not been able to stop thinking about that movie since I watched it
This movie was magnificent!!! DEFINITELY recommend watching the whole thing. I honestly didn’t know what to expect going into it, but it was so much better than I thought it was going to be haha 10/10 The only thing I would have changed is a hug scene. There’s a sweet scene where two characters share an emotional hug, and I didn’t think the hug didn’t last long enough. But, seriously. It’s so good. The Sunday number-GAHHH didn’t know that was going to happen, it’s so awesome!!!
You will LOVE the movie. You should absolutely watch the whole thing. Andrew, Alex, Robin, Joshua and the entire cast are phenomenal! Also I want to see you react to the rest of 30/90. That was only the beginning!!
YES watch the whole thing!! And that wasn’t the entirety of 30/90!! Andrew learned to sing, not only just sing but sing like a raw, open theatre performer. And not only THAT, but he had to learn to sing like (and the mannerisms) of Jonathan Larson, who wrote RENT. The movie is amazing, the music is amazing, and I’ve had the soundtrack on for two months. My friends and family now know the lyrics. There is no going back. Also, Boho Days is and amazing short song from the movie if you want a pretty spoiler-free clip! After you watch the movie, you should read about Johnathan Larson if you didn’t already know his story
Yes to watching the whole thing. And also the reason he pronounces things differently such as the sounds of "DO" in 30/90 is because that's how Jonathan Larson sand it when performing live
Very much more of a pop-punk meets musical theater sound. Surprisingly reminiscent of Greenday, or Panic!, or Elton John surprisingly enough
+
No, actually jon pronounced the "Do" normally and not "Duh" like Andrew did
@@nijel1943 in the videos I watched Jon larson said ever "Do" normally other than the final one
I ALWAYS LOVED THE WAY ANDREW SANG "DO" DJDJFHCJFJ
I love how, when you put them side by side, Andrew Garfield didn't just sing well, he portrayed Jon Larson perfectly. For someone who has never dipped his toes into musical theatre at all, he didn't just learn how to sing and play the piano, he learned to ACT through his singing in a way that perfectly emulates Jon. Absolutely! I didn’t know anything about what this movie was and when I did research on how he imitated him with look and mannerism, it made me appreciate it all that much more 🥰
@@kelseybelle895 ,
Andrew Garfield actually had to learn how to sing in 1 year. He took classes for singing and playing piano specifically for this role!
yes!! so impressive. love that man!
@@hayley74936 I wish I had that level of dedication
@@hayleyf9438 I'm pretty sure money would be a huge encouragement for you

its absolutely INSANE to me that he learned to sing for this and is THIS good
What's amazing is that Andrew Garfield had no musical background and he managed to sound like this
the fact that andrew literally got voice lessons for this movie cause he didn't sing is so shocking like woah he got that good in like idk how long
I guess he took 1,5 year of lessons
and piano lessons
@@emilied1543 he didnt actually play it lol
YES watch the whole thing. It is SO good -- he literally trained to sing for this movie, and it was EXCELLENT. And yeah, the way "do" was is a deliberate, stylistic choice. That doesn't mean it's good for the voice, but it was on purpose, lol
1. Why is probably my personal fav track from the movie.

I’m still so bummed that he didn’t win best actor

I think after his performance in this movie we can no longer say that he doesn't sing, cause it was incredible.
@@enriquepx1698 YES! He definitely did sing everything in this movie, and he did a great job, so he is singer now. It official.

I love andrews face through the entire singing stuff, mans looks like he's having the time of his life.
He looks just like Jon Larson. It makes my heart so full. You just know how badly he wanted to be there and do him justice

I love the songs in Tick Tick Boom but I think you need the whole movie for them to have the impact they do. Particularly the last one!
YOU NEED TO WATCH THE WHOLE MOVIE!! I'm so happy you've reacted to tick tick boom! This movie is phenomenal!!
DEFINITELY WATCH THE WHOLE DANG THING!!! Probably my favorite film from last year and the clips you watched are only the beginning!!
definitely watch the whole thing! He hadn't really sung before the movie but he learned for it and it's pretty insane
The movie as a whole is amazing and I definitely recommend watching it. Really great acting and the story is really intriguing.
If you do more, tick, tick…. Boom, react to “Come to your Senses” and “Louder than Words”. “Louder than Words” is my FAV.
Yes! I play those songs everyday, they are just amazing
and johnny cant decide oh my
Yes, please!! Louder Than Words is so good
Yes, please!! Louder Than Words is so good
Yes! Pleaseee, react to “come to your senses”!
YES!! Please watch the whole thing! I would love to see your reaction to some of the other songs.
Definitely watch the whole movie. It’s really great and serves as a wonderful tribute to Jonathan Larson. Andrew Garfield is absolutely stunning in it as well.
I watched it with my brother and I think u absolutely need to watch it Hannah!! I feel like you would LOVE it.
The songs play a lot better in context with the film, and the story it’s trying to tell, so would definitely recommend a full watch and reaction. Lin Manuel Miranda’s directorial debut too after all.
PLEASE WATCH THE WHOLE MOVIE I GOT SO EXCITED WHEN I SAW YOU WERE REACTING (I honestly thought it was for the full thing) BUT PLEASE I NEED YOU SEEING THIS WHOLE THING IN MY LIFE
If perfection was a person, it would be Hannah!🥺🥰
YES! Please watch the whole thing!! It's so good!!
Andrew worked with voice teacher Liz Caplan for about a year before filming Tick, Tick, Boom in order to sing it. This is his first forte doing a musical (he's done numerous plays before). And yes, you should watch the entire film. :)
hannah, i started watching ur videos yesterday and im OBSESSED!!! you're so sweet and i love how u teach us about singing!
I've been patiently waiting for you to react to this movie!!! Andrew Garfield's singing was honestly so amazing
Also, please react to the entire film!
Yesssss! Watch the whole THING! It's sooooo good! one of my favorites!
I absolutely adore these songs! The movie was also so so good as well
YES HANNAH YES PLEASE WATCH THE WHOLE MOVIE!!!! One of the best musicals I've ever seen, and Andrew is magnificent in it! And Robin de Jesus too!
100% recommend this movie. Andrews voice is amazing and the storyline is just so sad
YES! Watch the whole thing, or at least the whole 30/90 song because honestly it only gets BETTER as the clip goes!
Personal favorites from the movie: 30/90, Come to Your Senses, Johnny Can't Decide and Therapy.
PLEASE watch the whole movie! Andrew Garfield learned to sing for this role and it's so crazy how good he sounds knowing that
My high school did Tick Tick Boom back in like 2008?
I can't stand her voice! It's whiny and shrill.
I feel the same way about Sutton Foster. People rave about her. She has won a Tony, and originated multiple roles. I can objectively say she's very talented (she sings, dances, and acts), but I can't stand her! I find her voice to be incredibly irritating.
Makes me realize that music is subjective. I really like her voice on the other hand. :)))
PLZ WATCH THE WHOLE THING ITS AMAZING OMG. But seriously it funny, it’s sad, I love the music, I would love to see your reaction to some of the other songs! Especially the superbia ones!!!!!
YES please watch the whole thing it is SO worth it.
of COURSE you should watch the whole thing...it's bloody BRILLIANT!
yes PLEASE watch the whole thing, it is SO GOOD
Yes yes yes, Plzzzz watch the whole movie! It will take you on an emotional journey and the songs are sooooo good!
PLEASE watch the whole thing. It’s incredible.
He got an Oscar nomination! He really deserves it, I hope he wins🎉🎊
I honestly didn’t know what to expect going into it, but it was so much better than I thought it was going to be haha 10/10
The only thing I would have changed is a hug scene. There’s a sweet scene where two characters share an emotional hug, and I didn’t think the hug didn’t last long enough. But, seriously. It’s so good. The Sunday number-GAHHH didn’t know that was going to happen, it’s so awesome!!!
YES YES YES! Do the whole thing!!!! I've been waiting for you to react to the whole movie!
I would watch the whole thing! Its a great movie, well directed.
