can we agree that you shouldn't be able to say "the music is better when you realize that it's not only the final boss of the game but the series" on a series that hasn't gotten an entry for a long time? I saw the same thing on the final boss of pikmin 3 and all it does is make people lose hope, lucky pikmin 4 exist now but it doesn't mean that you can say something like that. how ever if it's for a series that has been confirmed to not have any more entrees than you can say that.
Christ, that ending fucked me up. I expected it to be the same old run-of-the-mill thing where you leave. Christ, I still remember one part of the dialogue perfectly.
Who else thought of the Kirby games when they found out about Dark Matter? It even acts a little bit like it too, possessing numerous people, including royalty; being fueled by negative emotions; a crippling weakness to happiness... (The Dark Matter boss from KDL2 attacked Pop Star because it was jealous over everyone's happiness there)
I know, right, those resemblances are uncanny. (Kirby Star Allies spoilers ahead:) Even moreso when you realize those floating orbs in the background of where you fight Void Termina, who is the progenitor of all Dark Matter, very closely resemble PSMD's Dark Matter. I almost feel like we're getting cross-series lore.
This game not only revived the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, but improved on them vastly with rigorous, challenging gameplay. This game had a gripping story (especially later game), characters you really care about (especially your partner) and one of the most memorable OSTs I've ever listened to. This game is on par with EoS in almost every area, but excels further than any Mystery Dungeon game in gameplay. Other than a slow beginning, common with Mystery Dungeon games, I really enjoyed this game.

As a nitpick I would've liked a more epic battle than you and your partner trying to break a jawbreaker just standing there. I would've enjoyed it if it had some sort of symbolism to its form (maybe the form of a human? idk something more creative than a knock-off Yami from Okami). This song made up for it immensely though. Almost makes me thankful for the multiple times I died in that fight (5 straight dungeons drained alot of my items, including revivals >.>)
I honestly beat the boss in the first go, but mostly because I got lucky with the boss not landing any stat effects hax and I had long ranged attacks (although I did pump my Mon up with a lot of carbos and calcium beforehand). I will know to bring more heal seeds next time, though.
MORE CHALLENGING GAMEPLAY!?!? as if mystery dungeon wasnt hard enough already... geez... personally the big thing I hated was the fact that if you died you lost your items and money... and if you brought something important or rare... gone... and I personally dislike losing progress... im the kind of person that saves excessively...

*SPOILERS* I love how well this song captures the "Don't give up!" that everyone tells you before you start the second phase. And relistening to this song after you find out that your partner is Mew... And knowing that this theme is the theme of your ancient companion Mew... So many feels!

Well considering that dark matter pretty much looks like master core, acts like master core, you fight him in space like master core, attacks look like something master core would do, and...1:03, is that the smash 4 theme? I'm beginning to see where they got their inspiration for this villain.
I got matched with Fennekin (the description before the reveal was spookily accurate), and my partner was a Pikachu I named Reepicheep, after my favorite mouse. This moment. . . this overwhelming feeling of "Let's do this--you and me, together!". . . it's been one of the coolest moments of my gaming career.

Reshi I sort of agree with you that EOT/D/S had a better story overall, but that's for different reasons. The explorer's games had more "consistent" story development that remains interesting throughout the game, while Super doesn't do much with the story until the latter half of the game. T/D/S's story also took time to gain momentum, but it also had better world-building. There are so many memorable locations in those games, and many of them are significant to the plot. Fogbound lake, spacial rift, the hidden land, etc. The only interesting landmarks Super has going for it are that hill with the tree, the tree of life, and the ruins. Everything else (including fire island) is just there, without much explanation. I already consider this game to be almost on-par with Time and Darkness, but I've never played Sky. If there's one game in the series that's the best, it would have to be sky, but that's only because of its near-perfect story. Super's game mechanics are definitely superior, even if the game itself is piss-easy for any experienced player.
This is the only, ONLY final boss battle in a videogame that made me cry! The scenes, the music....heck it was epic. I have no words. BEST FINAL BOSS BATTLE EVER!

If you're looking for spoilers, stop searching now! Trust me, you'll regret looking for them. Just go through the whole ride as blind as you can.
Nope, sorry. Apparently, it's just REALLY hard to do any sort of grinding. I'd just stick to giving your Pokemon a bunch of Proteins, Irons, Sitrus Berries, and stuff like that. They won't go up in level, but their stats will get higher. Aside from learning new moves, it's pretty much the same as leveling up. Unless there's a limit to how many stat boosters each Pokemon can drink, in which case getting stronger just got a whole lot harder.
+Explotaro&Gold bruh Best way to grind is Joy Looplets and long dungeon field trips fighting stronger enemies. Make sure you use your gold bars on vitimins for permanent stat boosts, though, especially for your lead mon.

I had a back up team collect items like a bundle of revive seeds, And Oran Berries. And even Poke to buy more revive seeds. In the story all you can hope for is that you have fileld your bag with seeds and apples and get out of the dugneons ASAP.
Who else wants an extended story past the end of this game? Like, an update to continue it a bit? Or DLC if need be? Explorers of Sky did a great job with pulling the story together, what with showing who was responsible for the collapse of Temporal Tower and why you lost your memory, but also the Special Episodes. What I would give to see some story in this game involving Grovyle, Celebi, and Dusknoir! Or Wigglytuff's Guild! Team Charm! Sure, the same characters are in the game, but they don't much other then simply exist in the game. There's no story to go with them. So get on that, Chunsoft! I'll pay all the money!

I remember jamming out, while being beaten down, monching on life seeds, and beating the absolute dark matter out of a ball with a bipedal croc and fennec.

Is it me or does the true form of Dark Matter look a lot like True Yami from Okami, with the sphere and the design. I was half expecting a hand to come out of the ball.
They're both also symbols of types of evil... True Yami's forms being different human evils every time, and Dark Matter being hate and other negative emotions built up over years and years.

+USERNAMEERROR I guess in a way, phase one of dark matter being in a cage must be the negative feelings caged up inside us and phase two being the Yami Ball and breaking down is how hatred starts out hidden in a way then becomes revealed, or in another sense the breaking down of suffering releasing true feelings. So much potential symbolism in this fight. But the music is awesome nevertheless
This theme gives you a sense of how grueling and rigorous the path ahead can get and how anyone can overcome any obstacles that should stand in their way, not only that but it gives you a strong sense to fight and win no matter what. That no foe can bring you to your knees and make you surrender. You fight for the ones you love and care about. To the last breath if that's what It should come too. 💯💪🏻♥️
I've got a theory for you all! (SPOILERS!!!) Both the Bittercold and Dark Matter are described as the embodiment of hatred of Pokemon, right? Well, Dark Matter is an entity that existed in the ancient past. When Mew and the human defeated Dark Matter, it was said that it split into pieces and scattered over the world to collect more hatred to be reborn as a more powerful being. Well, what if the Bittercold is one of the shards that was scattered into to the region where Gate to Infinity takes place, more specifically the Great Glacier? The Bittercold came to existence due to hate and negativity. So, it might be reasonable to think that this shard had more negativity compared to any shards absorbed in it, becoming powerful enough to be able to freeze the world. And further prove my point, the core of the Bittercold is the same color as the core of Dark Matter. Pretty neat stuff, huh?
If the Darkrai twist in PMD2's postgame wasn't a thing, then I'd say that even Primal Dialga got infected by one of those shards. Just to connect further dots for this. But I do agree on the Dark Matter theory with Bittercold being part of it.
The Pounce Wand was the item I used the most in this battle after being blasted away so many times. The Reviver Seed was the second most used after being hit repeatedly by mostly accurate attacks that can deal 40+ damage and slap on a status like yawn or confusion. They sure didn't make it easy like Gates to Infinity, where you'd just use a Health Orb and then you could beat it in a few turns.
After upvoting, I realized that in terms of difficulty, It's pretty much the inversion of Red Rescue Team. In that game, I could do a three star help request blindfolded, but I've died countless times in Sky Tower, and unlike Dark Matter, Rayquaza didn't have a checkpoint. In Super however, the help requests nearly made me break my 3DS in two, but once I levelled up, they became decent, also you had the help of level 70-80 'mons, but I've died zero times on The Tree of Life, making It the easiest out of the PMD Final Dungeons. I can't say too much about the Post-Dungeons, (I used cheat codes in Rescue and never dug that deep in Super, but I've heard that Arceus's domain is unforgiving) but those are hard in every PMD game, even in Gates.
Did not expect the difficulty spike when I Sheer Mountain Range. Stuck on that for around 4 years give or take another. Ok I was a little kid back then. Not to mention that damned Salmance
Everything about this game was just built to defy expectations that the previous games established. After Gates to Infinity I was expecting another solo final boss so when I saw my partner rushing up to help I was like YAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS

They work out really well with them because if gives of that vibe of certain pokemon Like Lugia and Ho-oh , on 0:37 It sounds like the Bells the Kimono Girls dance to during the Sacred dance |*COUGH* ritual *COUGH*| For both pokemon. Gotta say, this is without a doubt tied with PMD2 for best PMD game, this was an amazing recovery AND backflip from the underwhelming gates to infinity. the story, music, the characters, holy shit i just LOVE IT ALL.
A friend of mine played this game, and he told me that this was the first time since his first ever playthrough of PMD2 that he wiped to any boss. He was literally one hit away from doing it in one go.

+LucarianSpy I personally would like a prequel. There's so much past material like the previous battle with Dark Matter that is hinted at, but is never shown. That in itself could be a game, or at least some DLC.

I was really sad when they first mentioned dark matter as the root of all of this cause I knew it would be the final boss, but when I got to this point, holy crap this music is so perfect!
I've played through the story like 3 times already... whenever I get to this battle, I get goosebumps every time. The music is breathtaking.
I remember jamming out, while being beaten down, monching on life seeds, and beating the absolute dark matter out of a ball with a bipedal croc and fennec.

Is it me or does the true form of Dark Matter look a lot like True Yami from Okami, with the sphere and the design.

Nah. Wasn't just you. I had similar thoughts when I first saw this boss' second form. It was rather hard not to make comparisons to it design wise.

They're both also symbols of types of evil... True Yami's forms being different human evils every time, and Dark Matter being hate and other negative emotions built up over years and years.

+USERNAMEERROR I guess in a way, phase one of dark matter being in a cage must be the negative feelings caged up inside us and phase two being the Yami Ball and breaking down is how hatred starts out hidden in a way then becomes revealed, or in another sense the breaking down of suffering releasing true feelings. So much potential symbolism in this fight. But the music is awesome nevertheless

I've got a theory for you all! (SPOILERS!!!)
Both the Bittercold and Dark Matter are described as the embodiment of hatred of Pokemon, right? Well, Dark Matter is an entity that existed in the ancient past. When Mew and the human defeated Dark Matter, it was said that it split into pieces and scattered over the world to collect more hatred to be reborn as a more powerful being. Well, what if the Bittercold is one of the shards that was scattered into to the region where Gate to Infinity takes place, more specifically the Great Glacier? The Bittercold came to existence due to hate and negativity. So, it might be reasonable to think that this shard had more negativity compared to any shards absorbed in it, becoming powerful enough to be able to freeze the world. And further prove my point, the core of the Bittercold is the same color as the core of Dark Matter. Pretty neat stuff, huh?
If the Darkrai twist in PMD2's postgame wasn't a thing, then I'd say that even Primal Dialga got infected by one of those shards. Just to connect further dots for this. But I do agree on the Dark Matter theory with Bittercold being part of it.

The Pounce Wand was the item I used the most in this battle after being blasted away so many times. The Reviver Seed was the second most used after being hit repeatedly by mostly accurate attacks that can deal 40+ damage and slap on a status like yawn or confusion. They sure didn't make it easy like Gates to Infinity, where you'd just use a Health Orb and then you could beat it in a few turns.

After upvoting, I realized that in terms of difficulty, It's pretty much the inversion of Red Rescue Team. In that game, I could do a three star help request blindfolded, but I've died countless times in Sky Tower, and unlike Dark Matter, Rayquaza didn't have a checkpoint.
In Super however, the help requests nearly made me break my 3DS in two, but once I levelled up, they became decent, also you had the help of level 70-80 'mons, but I've died zero times on The Tree of Life, making It the easiest out of the PMD Final Dungeons.
I can't say too much about the Post-Dungeons, (I used cheat codes in Rescue and never dug that deep in Super, but I've heard that Arceus's domain is unforgiving) but those are hard in every PMD game, even in Gates.
It's super difficult, but I love that about it. Really kept me on my toes. Doesn't baby you. Was rounded out beautifully by the new mechanics.
Did not expect the difficulty spike when I Sheer Mountain Range. Stuck on that for around 4 years give or take another. Ok I was a little kid back then. Not to mention that damned Salmance

Everything about this game was just built to defy expectations that the previous games established. After Gates to Infinity I was expecting another solo final boss so when I saw my partner rushing up to help I was like YAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS
