I want Christmas collections to actually look like Christmas! I want the tacky red and green packaging, the glitter, the gold and sliver colors. None of this “all year round wearable girly” stuff. I have enough neutral and pink crap.
yes! or like super glamorous, gold and silver sparkles, party vibes! stop giving me the same neutral beige shit in slightly different packaging!! where is the fun!!!!
Yes, I feel like Christmas is an opportunity to do the red and green and sparkles! ✨ Why do something that looks neutral and “everyday” when you can pull something fun and glam at Christmas time?
I need makeup to be more rich and colorful in general. You only need one or two good neutral palettes. After that, I want a vast range of colors and shimmers so I can play and go crazy. Robert’s looks are always so colorful but still elegant to me and it’s like people are afraid that color is tacky or excessive. Color is fun! We need fun wherever we can find it these days
So true, the only time I want chintzy, Christmas dazzled make up! Something fun, still wearable but something great for Xmas parties etc!! Red lipstick, doesnt cut it 😂
lol ngl I have a certain skin tone & type where one tends to veer toward nudes & beige after 45…i was pretty pleased with my festive beige look 😂 lol for real, my eyes are recovering from a bad reaction, no holiday eye makeup this year. While warm light neutrals do flatter me more, what makeup love can resist a big festive eye look?!?! Makes me very suspicious of these brands
"Smurf dust from the bones...of mythical creatures..." I sense you too are disappointed...?😂 Really though, as usual you're spot on Robert. I thought that the spate of advent calendars from many companies were highly lacking as well. 💜🖤💜🖤💜
Oh my god this is my favourite eyeshadow look you’ve ever done (which is saying a lot because I always love your looks). But these are my favourite colours and I’m *obsessed*
@@z3phyr1e Not sure if it was intentional, but it almost looks like, "which one do I like better" type of thing. They're both stunning, but personally i like the side with less glitter (there's still some in the very inner corner) because it doesn't cover the dark blue on the inner part of the lid like the other side does, so you're able to see the color gradient a little better. Can't go wrong with either side though!
Too faced needs a reality check ! Most people are not spending that kind of money on boring old chalky makeup, if you have 1 palette from them you have all their colors... let's be honest... I do like a few of their products, but child I'm not about to pay 40 dollars for a face primer! I'll just wait until it's at t.j.maxx....
@quinlantaylor04 Yes ! I was a big fan of the brand .... everything was super cute and loved most of the products and their customer service was amazing....
OMG I turned this on as a background didnt even look much at the thumbnail, when I then look up and see that eyemake up, I literally screamed, how mesmerising, trully stunning!
I think it's better to have less of these limited/holiday themed collections. The waste in cosmetics, especially packaging waste, is already astronomical. Do we really need to contribute to it more to have something shiny for one day of the year? I'd rather gift someone a product they use regularly and love, so I'm not mad at MAC for doing the classic lip kits tbh.
I actually appreciate the fact that you mention your collab frequently, it tells me that you genuinely love and use it!! ❤ I'm loving the palette so far, first time using Blend Bunny and the first time I've actually been properly excited to try fun looks for Christmas instead of just throwing on a gold-ish shimmer and hoping for the best 😂
One brand that I think hit it out the park this year with a winter/holiday collection was Trixie Cosmetics!! Trixie loves her colorful looks, and they decided to go for a ski lodge slash holiday cookie icing-esque vibe for the color story, which was simply *chef's kiss*!! Colourpop wasn't insanely interesting and didn't stand out, but if anyone wanted a really vibrant holiday palette for this time of year, I think Trixie's pallete would be absolutely perfect for it!! And I just wanted to say that the eye makeup is giving fruity candy cane, and I'm OBSESSED with the vibrancy of the shades!! 💜🩵💙✨🫶🏻
robert's eye makeup to me gives like. victorian fancy holiday evening party with rich velvet gowns and beautiful shiny jewels and gems set in bright gold and silver antique filigree rings and pendants hahaha.
I think brands don’t invest in their Holiday Collections anymore because as a consumer, I am really just not into any limited edition releases because of the fear of liking the product and are not being able to repurchase it.
I will say, in person the frosty the snowman colour pop palette is really pretty. Not to say it hasn’t been done, but I was surprised how much I loved it seeing it in real life.
I usually love getting beauty stuff during Christmas. However, I agree. This year was extremely lack luster. The best “holiday” launches this year were the Melt x Bailey Sarian Fatally Yours II collection and your Divination collection with Blend Bunny. I can easily make cute holiday looks with those.
I agree with this video my thoughts exactly. I did buy a Mac Lipstick for myself this Christmas in the Peppermint Pink colour. I’m very excited because I’ve been looking for a light enough pink for me but can say that I miss when Christmas releases were fun
Personally think Christmas colours are boring. I want a Winter Solstice set, with deep blacks and purples to represent the longest night, and icy blues, glacial greens, and white shimmers that look like fresh snow.
bobert belsh time yay! excited. finally did a huge makeup clean out after getting a rash and a stye from old expired products back to back, so need to refresh my collection bc i've gotten rid of anything not purchased in the past 6 months, as some of my make up was probably close to 15 yrs old.
Shhhhh…I have a stila blush that just had her sweet 16 & doesn’t realize she should be old and crusty. I do practice impeccable hygiene w her, but I am stunned she’s still so vibrant & her formula is just like the day I rescued her from Sephora… I know I should declutter her, but I just cannnnnnnnt
I love watching you so much Robert 😂 "Smurf dust" and "just some mini products and a silver bag.... Merry Christmas!" Both had me creasing 🤣 love a good laugh out load
I'm here for this petty too, I remember holiday collections being all fun and/or dramatic shades whilst being sparkly or metallic too. Now it's all flipping neutrals. It's Christmas, give us the vampy jewel tones and shimmer we need to get through the winter gloom!!!!!!
i also love the frosty palette it’s a good price and the jelly glitters are also really nice. i hate flaky glitter and it dries better than lots of more expensive items i’ve tried.
I agree with Robert the excitement for limited edition Christmas makeup is not here this year a real 2024 Christmas disappointment, which is why I recommend the Dasique Starry Night collection makes me excited for Christmas. WISHING YOU & EVERYONE in the COMMUNITY A MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎁✨
The excitement is all in the indie brands and has been for a while now, imho! 😃All the mainstream brands are making the same boring nudes in a different packaging. Menagerie cosmetics launched a really pretty Arctic collection, and it's not just a pretty palette, but also really interesting lipsticks and other products, Bella Beaute' Bar has just released a new collab collection that fits the winter theme perfectly, Cosmic Beauty made a really unique holiday palette, and so did Dede Signature - I would be happy getting any of those as a gift! 🎁 And then there was Blendbunny collab with a certain Robert Welsh, you know, pretty recently, that I bet went onto many Christmas wishlists, having been released pretty close to the holidays!
Frosty the snowman ColourPop could have been a collection of overstock :) we don't mean to be a Grinch, but consumer should not be picking up the slack HA :P I'm obsessed with ColourPop so I totally know what you mean :D I love me a good sale too
I was literally browsing the colourpop website last night, hoping for so fun & inspiring things. Saw there was a sale & was ready to go nuts buying stuff… but there wasn’t really anything that I wanted to buy? I still remember ordering ridiculous amounts of their products, having them arrive in their beautiful big box & spending the rest of the day trying out different makeup looks. Like, cancel my plans - my colourpop order just arrived. But just nothing.. maybe I need to look a bit deeper, past the ‘holiday’ promoted stuff. 7:16
I absolutely love when you get petty! At least somebody is being honest and laid it out there for Brant to know that when they do stuff half ass, we’re not excited about it! I truly do appreciate your pettiness and everything that you’re saying. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or whatever y’all may celebrate. With Love from Louisiana.
Holy Petty, Dark and Handsome! Robert, I've not been on the TH-cams for a few months and you look AMAZING! Seriously, you're going to be cutting glass with that jawline and cheekbones. Happy Christmas and New Year to you, your beloved, and family!
Agreed. I wasn't the least bit tempted to get anything this holiday season. I hope next year brings around some excitement. Not that my wallet needs it, but 😅
I agree. I haven't purchased any palettes or really anything at all this season other than Amazon repurchases of mostly skincare. Just about everything's been done so brands have to be super creative to come up with new and innovative products.
MAC tartan tale was my fave holiday collection. My dad used to go to the counter and ask for the holiday kits, show them a photo of me to get my colouring and every year it was amazing
I feel like I scored this year! I got a lot of cool wicked themed makeup items, limited edition body scrubs, and some new regular make up to try. Hopefully this new lunar year will bring out some creativity from the brands. Happy holidays everyone. 😊
I feel the same way this year. I was excited to go out and purchase holiday make up, but no one delivered it for me. I did purchase a couple items from Mac's holiday collection, but honestly I still felt let down this year. The way I see it is the whole rest of the year I can purchase everyday looks and such, but I crave the excitement of holiday pasts as brands release their limited edition holiday colors and packaging, because I do plunk my money down on it, it's part of the experience for the holidays for me. And in my world, I don't care if I can't get again, there would be the next holiday collection the next year to fall in love with.
Question for you Robert. Can you do a video about how you would do collections based on holidays? Like imagine an XMas collection and what eyeshadow shades you’d have. How many shades too? Something fun like that
I would love a gingerbread man set of makeup. Colors, shapes, and you could pair so many different combos with that. Definitely some that would compliment those pastels better than that frosty the snowman palette
I totally get what you mean!! I miss early colourpop so much, they used to get me so excited. Also Robert this eye look is stunning - it reminds me of the northern lights. I really want to try to recreate it as best I can for the holidays or something else festive.
i will say in my personal experience, the Frosty Colorpop palette is one of my favorites but my favorite eye shadow color is a light blue so it’s my personal taste
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for Danessa Myricks to do a cool neutral palette with some grey shades to in the same packaging of a palette she released this year... The palette with the removable mirror and you can stack the 3 little palettes, put the mirror on the front and put it in it's little pouch for travel. I just know that I don't do enough bold eye looks to justify the purchase but I would for the cool neutrals ❤ Happy Christmas to you and your loved ones Robert ❤
I work at a makeup store and I must agree.. boring, boring, boring. It’s either boring product in subpar packaging or minis. There’s nothing specific that I want this year.
I got the snowman colourpop collection when it went on sale and honestly I loved all the products except for the eyeshadow palette! It’s so chalky and hard to make looks out of without looking like I’m trying to do an 80s look 🤦♀️ the super shock eyeshadow goes on kind of wet and dries to a eyeshadow finish so it just gets everywhere. Also not good for my hooded eyes bc it causes so much creasing!!
I got the lip scrub and balm set because it’s adorable and I needed a new scrub and love balms… smells great and is cute af! I almost got the sponge because it CHANGES COLOR 🤩 but I figured it would just get stained so why bother lol 😄 but he is adorable!
@ I ended up getting another one when they were on sale for $4 bc I love the snowman but didn’t wanna ruin the one I got with the collection so I got one I could ruin 😂😂 he’s not the greatest at blending but for someone like me that wets their beauty sponges too much he comes in handy
This is actually funny because I really used to love clinique holiday fragrance sets, they were so awesome. But I looked this year because I really wanted the nostalgia and I wanted a new bottle of happy, and they had nothing to offer really. It's funny you made this video because I actually experienced this too aw
8:52 No, but seriously, why do so many luxury fashion brands still sell these eyeshadow palettes with the crappy little sponge applicator?! Have they really not noticed that everybody quit doing that at least 10 years ago? It's just baffling to me!😳
I also remember them not having advert calendars where they charge $600 or thousands of dollars for these little bitty samples and really little bit of nothing. The make up package is back in the late 70s were like in one great big amount with so many different shades so many different types of lipsticks mascara eyeliner, and they weren’t little tiny packages. They were just built into this one great big set where you just opened it up wide. Those were the days.
"This just me being petty for a whole fucking video, isn't it" 😂 This is one of the reasons we love you, Robert 💜🖤
Right we are here for the petty 😂😂
I loved the moment of self awareness lol😂 it made him more charming
I read this as pretty and did not question!
These releases may be boring but Robert's eyeshadow look IS NOT, honestly stunning (like always but extra today)

WOW!!! Some really boring Christmas collections!!! Imagine..a Christmas party look...yes!!! Let's get the beige out!!! 🙄🙄🙄 xxxxxxxx
It’s giving Melania’s monochrome Xmas decor for the White House
lol ngl I have a certain skin tone & type where one tends to veer toward nudes & beige after 45…i was pretty pleased with my festive beige look 😂 lol for real, my eyes are recovering from a bad reaction, no holiday eye makeup this year. In traditional Kim Kardashian fashion.
Thats what kim K's christmas decor looks like /gen

About Clinique: "Their eye makeup remover is like using rose scented acid" Im dying over the draggging going on in this vid i love it.
Oh my god this is my favourite eyeshadow look you’ve ever done (which is saying a lot because I always love your looks). But these are my favourite colours and I’m *obsessed*
I agree it’s absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
@@agathaohoshley5630 I’ve just put the previous video on and he says it’s the blend bunny/lins/glisten cosmetics collab palette!
@@nikkibordeaux5980 my gosh is it gorgeous or is it gorgeous???😍😍😍😍 thank you for letting me know😉
It's gorgeous but was the shimmer on one eye only intentional? It's still beautiful but it stuck out to me 🤔
@@z3phyr1e Not sure if it was intentional, but it almost looks like, "which one do I like better" type of thing.

I liked it, too, lol❤
Absolutely agree. The only bright spark this Christmas has been Cosmic Beauty's "Tis The Season" collection. Such fun colours!

Omg cosmic brushes’ holiday palette is soooo beautiful
I love cosmic brushes, their formula is amazing xx
Does anyone remember the old Avon mini lipstick samples? Sooo tiny and cute my grandma would only use them because she was ummm cheap ❤
You’re not petty. You’re just right! Love you Robert!
How I love petty Robert! Merry Christmas Robert and Family! 🎄
Worked for Clinique for five years in early 00s and never was too exciting. They did lean into Sugar Plum one year but that’s it.
Whadya expect from a brand which target audience is mostly menopausal women?

Merry Christmas
Good grief these products are BORING. I hope you and your family have a great holidays though Robert 🎄🎉💖🤩
I bought a lot of Christmas makeup this year. Tarte, Fenty, Morphe, Colourpop. I love it!
Next, do Lunar New Year releases. Some brands do nice packaging, some it's literally just red. That's it.

Your eye makeup is gorgeous❤
LOVE that eyeshadow on you! 💜💚
I want Xmas back & all the sparkles that go with it .🎄💖🎄
Your eye makeup is simply stunning Robert! You are so good at picking colors.
I really liked the cosmic beauty holiday Tis the season collection. It's very festive, while still being wearable all year.

I treated myself to your divination pallet for my Christmas collection as it is simply the best! Love it so much!
So true. Holidays have been very lackluster this year.
That's one of the most outstanding eye makeup I've ever seen on you Robert - just WOW! xxx
I think you need to save the makeup community! I would love to see some limited edition Robert Welsh makeup!! ❤
not me watching this with my frosty the snow man pallet 😂 . honestly i got it for the blue and the glitters lol

Loving the colours today Robert, gorgeous!
8:52 No, but seriously, why do so many luxury fashion brands still sell these eyeshadow palettes with the crappy little sponge applicator?! Have they really not noticed that everybody quit doing that at least 10 years ago? It's just baffling to me!😳
Because the target of those luxury brands are wealthy 50+ women who just want a smidge of colour on their lids on a daily basis if they do. 😅
Wow, what an absolutely gorgeous eye look!
