I want to give a special thanks to Lisa who saved this gem and many more from MAC in the 90’s! She has an eBay store if you guys want to take a look at some older products 😊 www.ebay.com/str/raidmykit?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=6kRim2jNTVu&sssrc=3418065&ssuid=tPbe8AJgSJu&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Oh my goodness thank you so much for that, I have a beautiful collection of make up, but nothing like yours, hopefully one day!! You inspire me everyday. ❤❤❤❤
I know where this was filmed in Toronto and by whom!! My late parents were friends with both the Franks(Toscan and Angelo) and I was introduced to Mac when it was just a few counters at that point in Simpsons and the Bay.If you were in the giant Simpsons you’re company was going somewhere.❤That video was filmed with WFW as its production company’s which my then best friends grandfather founded back in the day..and I believe it was filmed at the Summerville pool and athletic centre on Lakeshore Ave because that architecture is familiar. Wish I had kept all my Mac from back in the day but much of it went bad…maybe I’ve got an old cubic lying around though. Mac before Estée Lauder bought it will always be an iconic Toronto makeup brand ❤❤
Erin is literally everything… I’m a man that doesn’t even wear makeup but she had made makeup an intriguing historical adventure for anyone whether they wear makeup or not.
Oh my god!!! My mom had this tape when she was a teen! I had to show this to my mom and she was so happy to see the tape again. We both followed the video a long time ago and tried to do some makeup looks. It was a very bonding moment back then. :)
Erin my dear you are a gem for posting this!!! This is truly a piece of make up history. I know it's your official title, but you are my favorite make up historian! Thank you!
I just adore this! Thank you so much for sharing. I worked at MAC Cosmetics and it’s so cool to see these video’s…. MAC always had amazing inspiration video’s at all of their “MAC UPDATE” meetings!!
I was a MAC girl at a pro store from 1993-1997... I totally remember this video!! And I really miss the gratis.. have my whole kit because of it & still have all my original brushes from then.. quality lasts a lifetime!
Watching this MAC footage instantly gave me Sex and the City vibes ! The saxophone, the soft glow filters used in the editing. There’s something gritty and edgy about it but yet so sophisticated and elegant. Back when make up was for grown folks. Gahhh, thank you for sharing this amazing footage ❤
Thank you for letting the world see this little slice of MAC history💖 , So many frosted brow bones and saxophone solo's. I'd love to see your brush collection Erin ! I collect MAC brushes and have spent way too much time researching the factory's that made diffrent generations of them, I bet you have quite the collection.
It's nuts, now the nineties have come all the way back, when I see things like this I get these "taps" of how I used to feel at that time. Thanks so much! 🥰
I’m just sitting here waiting for the day you launch a cosmetic line with all of your knowledge and appreciation for cosmetics of the past I know there would be some insane products. Thank you for this video and all that you do sharing your knowledge and fascination of makeup history with us all. You are a goddess. ❤
Even though I'm 13, I love vintage and Victorian make up and trends.Plus I'm greek, so I cannot believe that people actually enjoy ancient Greece and that they don't only care about mythology, but the real "things" of that age!!Also i started watching you last year and all of your are so good 💗!!
Wow what a slice of nostalgia, how fun was that! Creativity, artistry, make up and FUN... aspirational, a short film! Mainstream make up now is so bland. I miss the body glitter of my tweens in the early aughts! Even nightclubs seem to be a thing of the past!
I love this!! Brings back so many memories of myself as a little girl wanting to do all these outrageous makeup looks, following Kevyn Aucoin books, ahhh thank you Erin! And happy holidays ❤
I graduated in 1997 and started working in retail not long after. When I discovered Mac I would always go hang out at the counter hoping one day they’d give me a job 😝
@@erinparsonsmakeup I would imagine you had your look together from birth!!! MAC was destined to find you and vice versa. We are fortunate to have you now. Thank you for sharing all this amazingness with us!!!
I was 32 years young..make up was everything...Mac cosmetics were the hottest especially the 💋 lip colors!! I had a shimmery nude that was to die for....love your videos..Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and the Best New Year's Ever to one of the best creators out there!!
Your eye color is gorgeous,.it looks like light honey!!! omgosh this video though ..I can't believe this was 90's ,,it felt more like 80's ....I noticed with the second model,. the artist used "groundwork" paint pot for her darker outer "shadow".. can't beat the paint pots. love the history of makeup info ..awesome..
I was 24 young years old in 1994. Though I've never been a makeup/cosmetics user or wearer, I used to surgically remove countless makeup print and fashion ads from the fashion and beauty magazines i used to subscribe to. I keep them all in my archives. Some of the products here take me right back to that era, and what an era it was. One i truly MISS. Sigh... Thank you for sharing.🙏🏻
These videos are so nostalgic for me. I was around 16 when these came out and my mom told me that if I was gonna wear makeup I was gonna wear nice makeup. She got me a Mac lipstick in Taupe and a Spice lip liner. I probably still have the lipstick somewhere. ❤
In the early 2000's I bought the lipstick color from Mac called Riveting, and lipliner in Stone. Riveting was this kind of plummy, mauve grayish color and it was a cream. I'd mix it with the color Fluid which was kind of similar, but in a frost. Riveting was discontinued and I worked for Prescriptives at the time, which was also an Estee Lauder line, and someone found 2 old lipsticks in Riveting that were used for testers. I still have one and the Fluid that I wore down to a flat nub. Watching your videos is so nostalgic to me, I love it!!
Having worked for Mac in the early 2000s, it is such a full-circle moment to work on this one for you Erin, thanks for letting me be a part of your beauty history! Bring on the CD-Roms, I'm ready! 😂❤🥰
Erin Parsons? 90’s? MAC? I RAN to TH-cam!! Erin, if you launch your own brand of cool toned 90’s inspired nudes I will sell my kidney to buy it all! Love you!!
This video was much more like the 80’s…it has a Rick Astley, Kenny G, Brat pack vibe. Hit me baby one more time came out five years after this video date! But the makeup is beautiful and I love the clear instructions. Erin, you’re a treasure for documenting this makeup history for us and future generations. I will come to see your future museum someday!
I was born in 1994, so this is the kind of thing I never really got to see/experience! I'm so excited it still exists so I can imagine what it was like to be into makeup then, and I feel weirdly connected to it for being the same age as me? Happy joint 30th birthday, Mac video!

Erin!! Love you and your vids! I could listen to you talk about anything! Love seeing your true passion and joy for makeup. And, can we hold space for that saxophone in the video, it really put in the work
That video oddly inspired me to play in makeup. Released 5 years before I was born but none the less I am gonna break out my most neutral of neutral palettes and liners and lipstick today and just play

What the heck are they drinking in the bar/club scene?! Looks like absinthe or something from a science kit. What a time to be alive 😂 🧪
