Two things I would do. Don’t put peanut chips in the tray. Smear a little peanut butter in the middle of the tray and glue the half of a peanut to the side of the stick, instead of wedging it at the top. Then he can more easily reach it and try to pull it off the stick.

There are hundreds of million-dollar productions out there on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, etc. But this 8 minutes of rat video was more engaging, entertaining and suspenseful than most of them.
Depending on what method you use, bigger mice/rats can jump out of the bucket traps sometimes. Chewing their way out is also a possibility if they can, which another poster mentioned. So many varieties of traps, it's interesting. I have tree/fruit rats, and they are big. I have two sizes of wire traps. Will be setting them out tonight. I tried the spray repellent, three different kinds, and it made no difference.
The idea is good enough but not the material. If you are not quick enough to move the box, the mouse will very likely find its way through the plastic wall. I have had bins with 1 inc. lid and seen the holes a mouse can make to get down to the contents. Glass may be an option...otherwise you just have to be quick! 😊😊
The mouse knew it was a trap, but couldn't resist. Let this be a lesson to you. What do YOU want real bad? Is it a trap? What's the worst that could happen? Is it worth the risk?
I love the idea. The trigger pressure is way too high. Mouse could have been caught much earlier. Maybe trim down the bottom of the wooden stick into a pencil shape. It needs to tumble over with the slightest touch. I'm gonna try it tonight. Thank you.
Easy enough to use a cheap bamboo skewer that's already sharp. I would also just dab some peanut butter on the side of the skewer instead of fiddling around with balancing the peanut on the end.
Incredible production value. Everything from the sound effects to the graphics to the slo-mo was perfect. I nearly choked with laughter when the mouse sweated, as if to say, "Whew!" Great idea and great video, a 10/10.
I wonder if it wouldn't make the trap spring a bit sooner to forego the extra pieces of peanut and instead put a bit of peanut butter on the stick on the end near the trigger peanut, close enough to the end that it can only be reached from inside. This would bring the rat's attention more immediately to the trigger peanut, and might just trigger the trap while the rat is eating the peanut butter.
It's funny how many people think this rat is a mouse 🙂 it's a young rat, but it's definitely a rat🐀🐀🐁🐁🐭🐭 Great video! Very suspenseful, and great editing! Great leading rat too! Sure to be a big star someday! 😉😁
This looks like it will catch a mouse but the only problem I see with it is that the mouse can do chew through that material and escape. Mice can through chew through just about anything. It should be a much thicker & harder plastic to prevent this.
@azandika there are many grooves in this container to bite on. also mice are capable of chewing through iron so a bit of thin plastic that can actually be cracked and broken just by being pressed on a lot stands no chance
We had a mouse in the kitchen so I bought a "snap trap" but my wife didn't want to find a mouse chopped in half (I don't blame her). I took a 1 gallon plastic milk jug and cut a "drawbridge" door, stapled the trap to the inside bottom and used dental floss to rig up the trap to the door. When the mouse entered it would set off the trap but the bar would only go half way, shutting the door tight. I set it on the counter and 10 minutes later had a trapped mouse.
@@sergeyy-ber He did so many times , he didn't trust the box as you can see , in comparison to other animals they wouldn't suspect the box is dangerous or a trap also the video got cut so we don't know if he tried to escape after getting caught

You don't need the extra peanuts in the trap. They just fill up the rat then he's not that interested in the larger prize. They can smell the just one peanut from the other side of the house. Or introduce the rat afterwards to Cuddles, the pet python.
The only suggestion I'd give is to use peanut butter instead of peanuts. First, the peanut butter is much more aromatic, making it a better bait. Second, application is much easier. No need to put the stick on a peanut. Just spread some peanut on the top of the stick. Put a big glob of you want. You can even spread some on the lid near the stick. If you put some on the tip, it may even make the stick more slippery so that any movement can trigger the trap.

Unlikely (in the short term). The teeth need a starting point, and the surfaces are smooth, slippery, and have no easy grab points pointing inward. We made a trap out of a shoebox and the mouse only escaped (the first time) because there was a small hole that it could rip away at and enlarge. It could not bite the soft flat cardboard walls.
