I've used this trap a lot in my student flat. It's not the best, but you just need a glass, a coin and some peanut butter, things we all have readily available. And resetting it takes a few seconds. Every day before going to bed, setting the traps is an easy routine. Takes some time, but you'll get them eventually
I've always used a trap similar to this one, but instead of a glass I use a pan and instead of a coin I use a fork with a bait on the end, the fork has to be balanced towards the inside of the pan.
I would add a slight groove in the wood to keep the nickel upright and still allow it to fall when a mouse is inside the glass. Seems to easy to have the glass fall even before catching a mouse, but interesting idea. I still like the peanut oil in bowl, that worked for me.
I've had them lick peanut butter right off the common Victor trap many times. I ended up having to stick Marshmallows on the traps, mixed with the Peanut Butter. That seemed to work a bit better.
Works great for mice! I caught 17 mice over a 1 month period in the winter. They popped up last winter outta nowhere and I used a few of these. Just coffee cups, nickels and Small squares of wood to place the cup on so I could pick up the caught mouse without him taking off when I lifted the cup up to get rid of them. Great homemade mouse trap with everyday items!
Lol, one mouse spent all his time in the glass eating the PB, the next mouse went in and ran him off and immediately got caught. I think it's the mouse that has 9 lives.
Best to set it up on a board or piece of cardboard or you'll have a hard time dealing with a live mouse that will run as soon as you pick up the glass.
I used this method...worked a treat..on 3rd attempt! So easy! I did put cardboard underneath right at the start, so that once it was trapped I could just pick it up off the floor...
I initially thought it was a bobcat or something, but that's probably because I had no sense of scale looking at the footage. You're probably right it's a house cat.
simple and mildly effective - thanks for posting sir , ive enjoyed most all of your posts over the years and tried some of your ideas -thanks ! from chitcago il.
The mouse jumping up and down inside the glass reminded me of the old Road Runner cartoons with the coyote jumping up and down on the TNT plunger or boulder that won't move - until it suddenly does.
That Feral Cat at the end who grabbed the "Humanely Dispatched" "Non-native Invasive Species" "House Mouse" (that's a lotta' quotes) was really being timid; it's like it was waiting to be INHUMANELY dispatched!!! 🤣
Me, too! Although, I've watched so many videos by now that I'm actually getting better at telling the species apart and I had correctly guessed that it was a house mouse.
No, you said it’ll be too tall to balance. So, I naturally wondered how you know that? A quarter isn’t that much bigger than a nickel. If a quarter was too tall; I’d just use a bigger glass. 🤷🏽♂️
I wonder if you used somethings bit taller like a half dollar or a fender washer, maybe it would be easier for them to get inside and make it less likely to drop prematurely
Shawn: What do you think of doing a comedy skit for humanly dispatching the mouse? Something over the top. Maybe dress up un horror movie costume or explosives? Something fun and light hearted.

A ~ if the glass falls onto the coin and creates a gap = the mouse will regularly breathe at the gap until discovered, unfortunately if the coin is dislodged clear of the glass [as in this video] the rim of the glass is sealed against the ground/floor = depending on the respiration rate of said mouse and it exerting itself (more likely to try to escape from the glass when trapped like that) at about 10-13 hours (?) it will suffocate and die ⚰️
Don't waste your time.. buy a "JL Eaton Repeater" or the "Catchmaster Multi-Catch" or "Victor Tin Cat" (all the same thing) for cheap.. it catches up to a dozen at a time. Just bait it with some peanut butter. You have the option to trap them live and let them go elsewhere or put the compatible glue boards inside. Up to you.
a freaking mouse just came into my house 2 nights ago and I thought I was imagining things but nope little poop head was real, So I'm trying this out rn. fingers crossed

The mouse doesn't care that he is trapped. He is having a feast.
More like a last supper
Bro not gunna die with an empty stomach
He’s becoming a peanut butter cup for local felines 🐱
The mouse was murdered 😩
The mouse that got caught didn't get anything to eat, the other mouse ate it all and then escaped right before it fell.

Thanks Shawn for showing an unique way to get rid of pests. And that doesn’t cost or kill. The trail cam footage is very welcome.

Shawn: "What we caught is a non-native..." [Mouse: "OH-NO!"]
LMAO
Well there is also the slight chance of Shawn keeping it as a pet.
Pulp Fiction + Surviving the Game + Mousetrap Monday = the makings of a HIGHLY politically incorrect horror film.
😂😂😂
The mouse just chillin there eating the peanut butter while he's explaining the trap is adorable.
That's crazy that they have such a light touch that it takes so long to set them off, I admire that
I've had them lick peanut butter right off the common Victor trap many times. I ended up having to stick Marshmallows on the traps, mixed with the Peanut Butter. That seemed to work a bit better.

I totally agree! My mouse what's a jumper! I just moved the glass to a bucket dropped him in the bucket mighty mouse jump right out😂
I used these with coffee cups nickels and Small squares of wood for the bottom platform. Worked great 👍
Spotted pet mouse: "Heck this, I'm out of here!" 😂
I love the simplicity!
Yes! The cat got a treat!
Mousetrap Monday: the best day of the week!
I love the tester mice 😂. Enter, get caught, exit stage left.

I'm thinking you could use a popsicle stick instead of the coin, you could modify as to length and sensitivity.
That little squeak when the glass pinched his tail killed me😢
As always, love the trail cam footage at the end of the video, with the animal getting a nice meal or snack, courtesy of Woods Food Delivery Service!
The cocktail glass worked better than the Gonzo!
This wouldn't work with me because there's a train tracks right by my house so the vibration alone would cause the track to go off
Please post another Uhlik Repeater video. That trap is ingenious and deserves a new fresh episode!
I actually used this trap a couple years ago. It did work well. I used a jar instead of a cup though.
Getting the mouse out is the issue. And make sure it is flat flooring.
Slide something under the glass, like cardboard!

And what do you do with the mouse when you have caught it?
Bigger cups? Place all on loose paper or a paper towel to make a better connection to destabilize the coin?
I think i would put a plate or board under it to help remove 'em
I tried this once in New York and saw a Rat as Big as a Cat take the glass and drink its beer from it
This was my favorite trap when I lived in apartment, caught many mice this way.
2:01-2:03 killed me and my cousin 😂😂😂

Oh my goodness that looks like such a good one. I will try it I promise!❤❤❤
After all the years of Mouestrap Monday this is the solution :)))
How you get the mouse out? I'm sure not everyone wants to pick it up 😂
Was I the only one overloading with anticipation to find out if it was native or not?
Me, too! Although, I've watched so many videos by now that I'm actually getting better at telling the species apart and I had correctly guessed that it was a house mouse.
"a mouse in your house" .. could be a good rap song
what do I do with the mouse later? I dont really wanna kill it but it might be the only safety option. Whats a quick and painless way to do it?
FRY IT UP IN A PAN WITH AN EGG. LAY IT ON SOME TOAST.
Shawn's Buffet - dine-in or takeout
What kind of camera do you use to record the animals taking the dead mice?
Man I love your videos.
Finally! A mouse gets the axe! Take that ya little cute fella!
"But I'm curious if it will work in the barn."
I will be saying that for a while.

Mouse snack consumed by the wild and rarely seen ....house cat.
Kind of worked... Had to throw a sock onto the glass to set it off because the mouse's touch was so light
When did you get a pet mouse? Only seen new rats. I am a newer fan.
Really cool thanks 👍
I thought the mice would steal the money and go buy peanut butter
Huh, with that sensitivity I thought it'd be a lethal trap falling down on the mouse's neck and strangling it.
