When we were there, fording indeed looked different after days of stormy weather. I actually could not believe the path is going through there, only some bigger boulders were to be seen. I had a sleeping child on my back, so we turned back. On the way down a lovely elderly couple asked us if we'd just returned from the top. That was an undeserved compliment :) About two hours later another short storm came in, so turning back was the right decision anyway.

Did this with my Dad and Bro maybe 20 yrs ago and the top 200m were in thick cloud. We sat on the summit having a bite and a group of baggers rushed through and disappeared back down into the mist. 5 mins later the cloud broke and the view across to the ridge came out! Spectacular doesn't do it justice and it just shows, patience in the mountains is never a bad thing!
Sometimes the days when you get that wee bit of luck can stick in the memory :) Its a great mountain - cant wait to get back :) Take care , stay safe and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Hi Murray, great video again and thanks for sharing. I love the area and when in Skye regularly do the short walk from Kilmarie car park to the ridge above Cammasunary just at the base of the west side of Bla Bhien. A nice trail for us who are a bit less fit and somewhere you can take the dogs. One of my favourite views. Best wishes again.
Wow! It's amazing, how that cloud cover evaporated within seconds, to expose such a distant, grand vista. Never seen anything like that before. Spectacular!
As good as it gets. Love how you capture the silence in the Corrie. Perfect night viewing and dreams of mountains and the whole sensory experience. Love it .
Catching up on a few of your videos. Your smile says it all on this one. Did the Clach Glas / Blaven traverse twice this year after a gap of more than 20 years. It's a great route if you are comfortable on that sort of terrain. Route finding coming off Clach Glas can be tricky. I was with a guide and glad not to be solo. Had a similar cloud lift at the summit in February, when it was more like spring than winter and a lovely clear traverse in May. Highly recommended.
Stunning video watched when we where on Skye a couple of days ago so thought we would have a go had same weather on way up misty and damp then reaching the summit mist cleared sun came out and boy the views best I have seen stunning cheers
VoiceRoland absolutely - hope none of the people I met coming off the mountain as I was heading up watch this ! They may be kicking themselves !! 😂 Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Simon Aldred Thanks Simon - it’s was an awesome evening and I reckon the weather gods were smiling down on me for sure :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Great footage, and that still of Clach Glas is truly world class. Sheriff Alexander Nicolson (of the eponymous chimney) reckoned that Blaven, for its summit views, was the finest on Skye, and I agree. The panorama includes everything you'd want. I walked up from Camasunary, via the less-used south ridge, which is straightforward and less of a slog, apart from that awkward little step down between the summits which you mentioned. Murray on St Kilda - now that is something I'm looking forward to! Although given its protected status you might not wish to traumatise the wildlife with those execrable trousers?
Awesome views! Definitely want to save this one for a crystal clear day to get that cuillin view. Like staring into the heart of mordor without a fiery eyeball staring back! 👁🔥 Brilliant Video, Cheers! Kris.

I'm so glad TH-cam suggested this video to me. It is one of the best I have ever seen of one of my favourite summits. The views from there are great and this video just reminded me of the great times I've had on the Cuillin and especially on this peak. Last time I was there I traversed from Clach Glas and that ridge looks fantastic here. Thanks for producing and sharing this footage. Just wonderful to see these hills in lockdown.

Needless to say I've been dying to get up Blaven for ages, and feel it's a decent starting point for getting in the Cuillin mountains. Some of those photos coming back down the mountain were just killer. The most amazing light and some great compositions too. Thought you didn't call yourself a photographer?
Looks very dramatic and atmospheric, Murray! I’m thinking of doing a summit camp here when I do the Skye Trail. Are there many potential spots to pitch? I’m gonna use my Big Agnes Copper Spur 2 so it’s a bit big... Cheers, Mari
Hi Mari, its a fantastic peak - very rocky though TBH. The summit (from memory) had a few flat spots to pitch but not much grass if you don't mind a hard floor:) Good luck with the trail - are you heading this year or next? ATB Murray
@@ScotlandsMountains ah, cheers! I don’t mind a hard floor as long as it’s flat. :D I’m heading next month! If nothing unexpected happens. I’m still to find a potential wild camp spot near Portree. I’m struggling a bit.
Hi Murray. Fabulous video. I'll add this route to my wish list for when I'm on Skye at the end of September and prey for similar spectacular views. On a different note, please could you tell me what software you use to edit your videos. You get such fabulous results. I'm hoping to start producing videos myself and just hope I can begin to emulate the quality of your work as yours are among my favourite vlogs. Look forward to your next outing!
Roy Carr Thanks Roy - hope the weather shines for you when you go 👍👍 I use powerdirector (think I have version 14) but TBH most software can sort out most footage 👍 good luck Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Hi Murray. Been really enjoying “binge-watching” your videos. I’m planning a trip to Scotland next year and this Munro has taken my interest. How do you think my dog would cope with it? He’s very mountain-experienced, having completed all the Wainwrights and many of their ridges. He’s also done Tryfan in Wales. Kind regards, Charlie & Tony.
Hi Tony - if you take the same (easiest route up) it should be fine - obviously I don’t know what your experience is outside of your text but the only thing I would mention is the gabbro on Skye can be rough on their pads and maybe some pad shoes might help (it’s not a long route and really just the ridge line from the Corrie up will be tougher under foot :) enjoy Ps I have a video incoming from Bla Bheinn in a few weeks too - hope you enjoy it :)
@ Thanks Murray. Yes, I had heard that the gabbro can be rough on paws. I might see if I can get him to wear some shoes, but it was a non-starter with my last dog - she just wouldn’t move with them on. Looking forward to your next video.
Fantastic vlog as always. My son is actually moving to Scotland in a few days he can’t wait to hike in and around Scotland especially now I’ve shown him you utude channel
Thanks Jeff, I was lucky and got the timing spot on for a change , it was literally in cloud the whole way up, I was so lucky on this trip :) Stay safe and thanks for watching ATB Murray

Hi Mari, its a fantastic peak - very rocky though TBH. The summit (from memory) had a few flat spots to pitch but not much grass if you don't mind a hard floor:) Good luck with the trail - are you heading this year or next?

Roy Carr Thanks Roy - hope the weather shines for you when you go 👍👍 I use powerdirector (think I have version 14) but TBH most software can sort out most footage 👍 good luck
Thanks for watching

Kind regards,
Charlie & Tony.
Hi Tony - if you take the same (easiest route up) it should be fine - obviously I don’t know what your experience is outside of your text but the only thing I would mention is the gabbro on Skye can be rough on their pads and maybe some pad shoes might help (it’s not a long route and really just the ridge line from the Corrie up will be tougher under foot :) enjoy
Ps I have a video incoming from Bla Bheinn in a few weeks too - hope you enjoy it :)
@ Thanks Murray. Yes, I had heard that the gabbro can be rough on paws.
I might see if I can get him to wear some shoes, but it was a non-starter with my last dog - she just wouldn’t move with them on.
Looking forward to your next video.
Do we all know when tea time (ish) is? 1:42

Ah, it was my first Munro
Great video! Jealous you got the views. I did it on 2nd of August 2019 and got zero views:(
Thanks Jeff, I was lucky and got the timing spot on for a change , it was literally in cloud the whole way up, I was so lucky on this trip :)
Stay safe and thanks for watching
