Great job, Tejasvie! Your insightful speech acknowledges the complexity of Bangalore's traffic issues. Your sincerity in admitting the absence of a complete solution yet promising commitment is commendable. The inclusion of statistics, like the 6,000% increase in vehicles since 1990, adds depth to your arguments. Your focus on economic growth, public transport challenges, and urban planning impact showcases a profound understanding of the problem. Keep shining, and your dedication to finding sustainable solutions is truly inspiring!

Bengaluru is overcoming each city interns of traffic. Its a great proponent to look on the vehicle system of the Indian subcontinent as a megacity not so old like Mumbai,Kolkata or Chennai.
The supply chain of Bengaluru is characterized by short arterial roads mainly but due to the presence of huge manufacturing hub nearby like Tamilnadu it is really an obviousity of workload inside the city.If we look at the growth of Bangalore as a metropolitan city it has the most enriched criteria and concrete outcome. It is really a hazardous traffic in Bangalore without being propense in reverse direction. In case of Mumbai we observe a waterlogging situation but in case of Bangalore we didn't have any such notification.
Thus uminspite of a huge traffic we got the architecture to follow the utmost proponent in the city of Bangalore. In future there will be Double decker bus around the sky as grazing cows. Its really has a great cycle to make such expressway and the flyovers like the previous time in 2000,the most earl.Natural common sense it what is in mind the allocation of whole urban area to the implementation of the arterial road and a ring road surrounding the arterial as suggested by the Ahmedabad ring road planning. There will be the implementation of Metro network and more technical improvement in the case of government to flourish the entire structure of the urbanisation. The Metro planning in Bangaluru has been a great advent by the spiral structure and the evolving idea removing the ring bypass concept. The appointment of technocrat only is not sufficient better to employ IAS to administer the process and Technocrat to implement a great way of planning and monitoring. In Kolkata where the implementation of Metro has a decade long experience, the political whimsicle has grappled the entire planning of Metro. Here in the case of fleet size consideration it is considered in Kolkata also the number of fleet has an all time increase in all the metropolitan ecological space of vehicle.BMTC has been an example like CSTC or CTC in Kolkata.
Nonetheless,in case of removal of the vehicle to the great advancement to the entire transit becoming transient to the all jobholders as the new jobs needed more advancement and complete obsolence of previous skillset.
It added a great by technical velocity increase thus lessening the distance by the great design of the track. There are sheer joblessness happened in the case of the planet of motion.
Inspite of the Bengaluru suburban rail project and the Metro rail project inspite of the utmost development the kind of motion may be devastating to the nature thus inspire of the marketing of travel and tourism of the metropolitan or tier 2 cities we need to be more precise in developing the Metro to a helm and taking consideration the other technical development of the other places with the vehicular design.

    Few suggestions:
    1. Analysing parallel roads and broadening them to ease traffic, and congested road and making follow of traffic direction 1 way
    2. Dedicated Bus lane, so that people are encouraged to use public transport as it would be fast and cost effective
    3. Metro-bus connectivity
    4. Promote - car pooling (office working in same organisation)
    5. Children School admissions - within 5km radius. This would reduce the children traveling long distances and only working people will be commuting more.
    6. Big flat association/ IT companies/ Industrial zones should provide shuttle service to the nearest bus/metro points
    7. Shifting College timings to 7:30am, workforce timing to 9:30am, so that the follow of traffic is normal.
    8. Discount price on ticket fare between 11am to 2pm, encouraging use of public transport for shopping and general purpose and avoiding peak hours.
    9. Efficient and real-time GPS enabled app for bus and metro timings and arrival/departure details.
    10. One card system Tap and use for metro/ bus/ vehicle parking. This will ease time, no need to carry exact fare for travel/ parking bike or cycle.

Seperate bus line would alone reduce 30%traffic,if buses travel in 30 mins no need to drive car, atleast till metro station is more than enough.

Dedicated parking spaces for 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers. Make them paid parking so that the space is not encroached by street vendors. Also it serves as a disincentive for those who park for long hours forcing others to double park which slows traffic flow.
Thirdly, many bottle necks are due to unplanned roads which become narrow at places. These can identified, land acquired and open up the bottle necks.

    Point wise additions:
    1. Under qualified prj heads- those subservient and sycophants help political parties to skim out the contract cuts. Accordingly positioned and may be on recommendation of contractors itself.
    2. Last mile connectivity: both mechanical transport and road system with bridges on vrishabhavati River need to be developed
    3. Usage of existing metro system: (a) increase frequency of runs(b) enhance public travel timings of metro 0430h to 2359h (c) use timings between 0001h to 0430h for transporting logistical loads across the city with one or two compartments for passengers.
    4. Road tax private 4 wheeler usage on high traffic roads
    5. Establish MULTI level paid parking spaces close to metros and direct walking connectivity to metro concourse level from said car park.
    6. Promote IT personel working from home or close by Co working spaces which can be in basements or terrace of apartments.
    7. Enhance data and voice capacity of communications in suburbs and also across the state at district level.
    8. Develop suburban cities to decongest.

Very good insights, all new ideas are welcome, few more points to address, which should be the most important is the road condition and maintenance ( half of the bengaluru traffic is because of very bad and dangerous road conditions). Second thought is to have a dedicated two wheeler line to reduce accidents and traffic control (maybe more inputs needed).

  • @shantharao71

By banning private ownership of cars can contribute to decrease the traffic problem. It has become a social status owning an automobile , because of good economic growth.
Any city or town in India never had good infrastructure. Cities grew haphazardly.
Annual vehicles inspections must be made mandatory. It may/ will reduce pollution.
People must follow traffic rules. Stop honking the horn. That is a type of pollution too.
Mr. T. Surya, you rightfully identified problems women, young and old face in boarding buses, specially in peak hours. I have faced such situations.
    All the best to you.

  • @manukunder
    @manukunder 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

I love Tejasvi Surya's energy and the philosophy. I have a small suggestion for him to improve Bangalore's traffic conditions and help it grow faster.
The city has the potential to more then double its population in the next 20 years due to its central location in South India and its highly talented and educated core population that is able to bring businesses and jobs to the city in both service and manufacturing sectors. The city should start expanding like Delhi and start connecting with neighbouring cities like Kanakapura, Hoskote, Tumkur, Bidadi and so on through both roads and metro or RRTS. Tejasvi Surya sir should support the state govt in this respect and to bring RRTS to the state through centre's co-operation.
Also Bangalore needs faster access to it's western coast ports in Mangalore and Kerala to capture big chunk of manufacturing sector, currently due to western ghats and slow moving vehicles, even though distances are only 350-400 km journey takes over 7-8 hrs. Tunneled expressways can bring the journey to less then 4 hrs and help Bangalore grow faster.
Requesting follow through on these suggestions if Mr Surya agrees on them.

  • @ravi.annadurai
    @ravi.annadurai ปีที่แล้ว

Thought provoking session by Tejasvi Surya. Global city like BLR needs much better city management. If we go back in history, BLR has started growing from early 90s, however city leadership didn't plan for growth interms of satellite cities, large public transport systems like Suburban rail & metro & Hub/spoke system. All we did was keep building some underpasses & bridges as band aids, by the time we complete the project traffic would have exceeded the planned no.
My take is we need to look at the problem from multiple angles
1)Decongestion of the traffic like reduce traffic using WFH, hybrid work, Distribute the traffic by changing work timings of the office goers(why most of the people work between 9 to 5.30? , reduce the cris/cross of the city by moving work/residential real estate to satellite towns(Bidadi, Harahalli, Hoskote, Doddaballapur etc) and develop Satellite Towns
2)Traffic Management like Better policing/patrols(adding to the workforce), Better signalling system(synchronised, Flexible), Dynamic Traffic control depending on traffic volume etc
3)Public Transport Ramp up like extending metro to congested areas, Implement the suburban rail system as it already delayed, Increase the busses, bring SMALL busses for narrow routes/interior routes, Hub and spoke system whereas Metro/Suburban/TTMCs can act as Hubs instead of running end to end busses. Public transport concept should be Banglorean shouldn’t walk more than 500m to get to Metro/Suburban/TTMC
4)Infra ramp-ups and corrections like Remove bottlenecks/non-uniform/inconsistent roads, Widen roads(example : difficult get into HSR from Hosur road due to narrow lanes), Remove potholes, Build brides at critical High crossings like Sarrakki signal(instead of 24th main! In JP Nagar!), Complete ring roads and move truck traffic out of city(example trucks from Hosur can to Bellari road via Atteballe, SJP, Hoskote, Devanahalli instead of coming into city.
5)Use Technology like Control centers, AI to dynamically adjust and manage the traffic.
6)Common Body to manage all the traffic agencies like BMRCL, BMTC, Suburban, BDA etc
Last but not the least, we need CEO like Mayor and not some councillor without urban management experience. Finally we need alert and active citizens as Tejasvi requested. Let us hope for the best.

Glad to see your have some good mind into this..which ideally waould have been the agenda for BLTA/UMTA..however have two questions to your sir:
    1. Since you well understand suburban train need to cater to suburbs like Bidadi/Ramanagara/Tumkur, why is KRIDEs current plan does not include them?
    2. Central govt is am equal stake holder in BMRCL, why is it not mandating the route planning to concentrate inside the core of the city? and also BMRCL staffing?

It's good to strengthen public transport.
When a person buys a private vehicle it's hard to bring him/her to the public transport domain.
Basically it's unavoidable for economically developed cities to keep ahead of the curve in one way such as wholly focused on public transport.
How did you come for this presentation, isn't it by car? Obviously yes.
That's the answer, if you become a role model for the public by traveling daily in public transport.... it's a good lesson to the public as well.
It's not only you, all the politicians should follow this practice.
When C-Rank people.... the cabinet uses public transport usually there will be a rush for public transport.
That's what the Germans & French did,....think of doing this practice.

Apart from the length of the road there is a problem of parking of vehicles in the city. Because of which it's creating unnecessary traffic. It's better to provide more multi level parking spaces which will eventually decrease the unauthorised parkings and make the effective usage of the current roads.

There is one more solution, 30 to 40% are cargo. Cargo transport tunnel does not need air supply and can be smaller in size compared to underground passengers transport tunnels.Costs one-third or less than passenger transport. Can have pickup and drop points at all areas of Bangalore and even near by cities/hub like Ramnagara, Hoskote, Airport can be linked. Underground conveyor systems for point to point system is very energy efficient, cost effective and can carry packages between 1 to 300 kgs.Can generate thousands of low skilled jobs also.
Even cities as far as Mysore can be connected to Bangalore.

We need a person like Tejasvi Surya as CM of Karnataka. Instead, we always find a certain caste leader to head the Government rather than on qualification. I wish Mr.Modi will take bold decisions in next term to make people like Tejasvi as CM candidates.

    Hello Tesjasvi Surya,
First and foremost, I'm surprised to see a presentation on this topic especially from an elected representative. Secondly, we are upset to hear about no Q&A session although you would have requested people to post questions and opinions in chat or any digital channel.
I feel we should go deeper into this topic in a public forum. Let me know if I'm missing something..
Below are few opinions, observation and ideas from my side on this topic.
    1. Is it required to operate BMTC buses and metro in the same route ? Out of many I can give an example . Bus route from Peenya 2nd stage to Majestic, Metro route from Jalahalli cross to Majestic. Are we not creating redundancy here ?
    2. Most of the buses final destination is either to Majestic, Kalasipalya , Shivaji Nagar.. are we not making all bus to travel inside City. Can't we decentralisation it by allowing BMTC only for short travel and metro for long travel distance ?
    3. Why are critical metro lines not complete yet ? For instance, yellow line metro cars manufacturing is delayed due to various reasons. Don't we think there is a huge technical dependency and can foresee risk with the OEM provider ?
    4. There are many reasons for the increase in Private 4 wheeler. Poor road infrastructure, not secure to travel by 2 wheeler etc. This even increased due to launch of delivery service from e commerce, food , and other services.
    5. No metro pass to Students ?
    6. No Strict Traffic violation
    7. Do we have or collecting data from mobility? Are we doing decision based on this data ?
    Hoping to see some response!
    Thank You!
    Karthik Prabhu

Nice to have you as an MP and appreciate your analysis of data but what happens is public do not get any information about what govt is doing except for a small article in a news paper on 4th or 5 the page done intentionally, media do not concentrate on the news of development, they do not do any research and ask some stupid questions to politicians, first make sure information reaches public so that we can express our views and start asking questions about it with concerned people.

    1) one of the solutions is WFH..Govt should push this initiative as mandatory instead of an option. 2) BMTC should deploy small buses for last-mile connectivity

I see a fatal flaw in the comparison study 18:08. Those are current numbers and don't account for the country's population and future influx and growth. London and Paris are saturated and fully developed. And their country's population is minuscule !

Increase frequency of metros, efficient last mile bus connectivity, are the major needs, plus removal of bottlenecks of roads, and for internal roads clear the footpaths from different poles for traffic signals, street lights, etc., (poles can be at the intersection of road and footpath) shopkeepers advt. articles and boards, and exposing their commodity outside the area of shop, trees, electric transformers, parking of vehicles and mainly street vendors, all these to be addressed simultaneously.

In the last 4.5 years this is what I can get from you. 3 years was same double engine. The solutions that you presented are good and your job is to get people on board and make it work. Not stand on podium and keep blaming someone else. Retrospectively even the older governments would have faced the similar opposition from different sources to not allow them to work. So how are you different ? Finally the metro did not expand from 7 to 70 only because Modi.. there was a State gov which ensured the timely land litigations to be completed and land is made available for the work to progress in faster manner. All I want to say is, with all your good articulation skills , I would appreciate if you develop the skill to take everyone along and stop blamegame. You are young and hopefully with time you will learn

Great to see you talking with such low level details!!!
But I do have some comments...
    1. Metro Projects need to double up their speed for sure.
    2. We still need New Flyovers/underpasses at critical junctions even when we have fully functional Metro.
    3. Try to accomplish a Full Circle Nice Road (Hosur Road to Tumkur Road via Sarjapur - Whitefield - KR Puram-Yelahanka-Nelamangala). This will definetely help BIG BIG TIME.
    4. City Needs to identify type of roads and regularize proper Speed Limits to reduce rash/rush driving.
Wish you luck for 2024 Elections!!

How to Decongest Namma Ooru Bengaluru: Build Four Satellite Townships about 100 kms out of Bengaluru-to the North, South, East and West. Provide high speed rail and road connectivity. Provide world class -Educational Medical & Recreational facilities. Provide people incentives to use public transport from the Satellite Townships to the City. Provide Government services at your doorstep. Restore Bangalore to it's past glory. Garden City not Garbage City.

One suggestion, instead of 2 wheeler parking at metro station, please use same space for bicycle parking. Initially give incentives like free parking for 12 hours etc.
When average speed on roads is 14 kmph, there is no reason for not switching to bicycles and walking. For densely populated city like BENGALURU, vision should be to ensure no resident is more than 10 min walk away from nearest metro station.

One of the way out is:
Central Govt should fund the development of infrastructure in Bangalore or else the Golden Goose will stop laying eggs.
Since Bangalore is taking in a huge number of immigrants the central funds allocation should take into account the immigrants and also fund for projects for water, drainage, sewage, roads, electricity, education, medicare

Yeah before that when will Bengaluru Metro Yellow line open? In 2030 ?
Construction started in 2017 , delay after delay . When i joined university in Dec 2022, it was supposed to open in July 2023 but got pushed to Dec 2023 then Feb 2024 , then April 2024 and now according to the latest updates, the opening is scheduled in July 2024 . People are still dreaming for a better commute by means of metro. It would be so convenient to commute from south blr(where my uni is located) to north blr(where I reside). An an MP of south blr, I request you to overlook upon the delay.
