Before I went plant base I use to struggle with very low iron levels. A dietitian my Doctor recommended wanted me to eat meat for every meal. Even when I use to eat meat I only had it once a day. I told her and the doctor I wouldn't eat that much meat. Well my iron levels dropped really low the doctor ordered these high powered iron pills. The pharmacists told the doctor it was too dangerous to take that amount. Then the pharmacists sat down with me and talked about a plant base diet and explained how vitamin c ate with food that have iron like leafy greens increase the amount of iron you absorb. I took his advice and with no meds my iron levels are normal. My doctor couldn't understand how that was possible without eating meat. It was really nice to hear you explain how vitamins c helps your body to absorb more iron. I have been plant base ever since.

I made Vegan Wonton Soup last night! It was Deadly!!! 2 Graded Carrots, 4 Gloves Garlic, 1/3 head diced of Cabbage, 2" Graded Ginger, 2 diced green onions Fried in a pan for 5-6 mins. In a bowl, Crumble 1/2 block of Tofu, 1tsp soy, 2tsp sweet thai chilli sauce, 1tsp sesame oil. Mix together the with the veggies and then wrap in Wonton Wrappers. Broth: 4 cups Veggie broth, boil, add 2 chopped Bok Choi heads, 3-4 cloves garlic, 2 inches of finely graded ginger, whites of 3 green onions diced. save tops of green onion for garnish. after simmering for 10 mins, add Wonton for 15 mins covered simmering. VOILA. Extra wontons get frozen for next time, and all you have to make is the broth again.

I have been drinking coffee for 46 years. I am not stopping now. I usually have a two large tumblers in the morning. One will be black and the other one will have mushrooms and Oatly and a few drops of some type of sweet drops in it. If I need it, I will have an afternoon pick me up. The winter picnic looked so good. ❄️💙. You make the best videos.
Had a wonderful relationship with caffeine/pre-workout stimulants for over 20 years, but had to give it up due to increasing levels of anxiety. Going off caffeine cold turkey resulted in Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms that lasted for many months, that was by far the most terrifying experience of my life. Only just begun to feel normal again after 10 months of being caffeine free.

I remember when my husband and I first went vegan and we made our first tofu meal we were like eh not as bad as we thought but a little bland. Now 4 years later, actually knowing what we're doing, tofu is our favorite. We just got a new oven that has an airfry mode... I'm excited to try this out.
Hello Derrick from Utah, I just found your channel on Monday. I have been sick in bed with Covid when I found your channel. I was plant base 5 years then drifted away. I've wanted to go back to plant based for some time but couldn't find the motivation. In that 5 years I gained 70 pounds, I felt depressed and I don't like my self. Truly "the fat you eat is the fat you wear". Being stuck in currentine for a week and finding your channel has been one of the best things that happened to me. So from the top of my heart to the bottom THANK YOU for reminding me that a plant based diet is the only way to eat. This week I have lost 9 pounds, I'm not bloated and I'm starting to feel good. Consider me as a new Subscriber and I'm waiting for that bell to ring. I can't wait for your next video and to many more videos in the future.
I was told by a doctor to give up coffee ☕. I will switch doctors before doing that. Lol. I tried to give up coffee but it is my sin. I did switch to decaf. Decaf has improved over the years. No weird after tastes. I add a touch of cinnamon to the grounds. Yum. I still get to enjoy coffee and tackle my day. All the best to everyone in 2022!!!

Thermos tip: preheat the thermos by pouring hot water in there and swirling it around and emptying it before using it for soup/coffee/etc. it’ll keep your stuff hot longer. Same thing for cold stuff and swirling ice water for a sec 😊
My dad always filled my mom's thermos for work and he would put boiling water in it and let it stand until the coffee was ready, then pour out the water and in with the coffee. It always stayed hot all day for her.
I love the idea of a winter picnic! Here is a handy hint, Derek: If you want to drain the sauce from the tofu, take the container’s lid and place it over the top of the container, leaving just enough room for the liquid to spill out. Happy new year and thank you for another great video.

I'm the same way with coffee! So sensitive, and I wish I wasn't because I'm in grad school and I could really use it. But working out and eating well has increased my natural energy so that's something to be proud of I suppose!
Just wanted to thank you for sharing your healthy lifestyle with us and these incredible recipes. I made the banana walnut milk to cook my hubbies oatmeal in and he absolutely loved it. I love oatmeal, but not the texture once cooked, so I added the vanilla protein to the remaining banana nut milk and mixed it in with my dry oats, added a frozen strawberry and some blueberries and enjoyed it as well. Yumminess. I actaully made a bit more than I could eat and saved it for another day, it was still tasty a few days later when I topped a coconut flax banana Pancake I made with the left overs. Can't wait to try some more of your healthy recipes. Thanks again

You asked about our coffee habits... I have one 12 oz mug every morning and its perfect. Loved the warmth, the smell, the ritual. No caffeine issues with that one mug. But i love the idea of blending caf and decaf, if it did become an issue.
Organic coffee makes all the difference. When I was drinking regular coffee and would stop major headaches but with organic coffee no headaches no jitters. I can also drink anytime of the day and still get a good night's sleep. I believe the difference is from all the pesticides that is sprayed on the non organic coffee beans.
I have a massive issue with coffee and caffeine. My current schedule has me up around 4:30am and not in bed until 10:30-11pm sometimes even later. I'm around 10 cups of coffee per day. Sometimes I have a little bit less but then will have any energy drinks I can get my hands on. Super unhealthy, but I've tried going without it and even after I suffered through the withdrawal symptoms I found myself still beyond exhausted. I drink A LOT of water to avoid the headaches that come from so much coffee... My saving grace is my diet is super whole foods with minimal processed foods/junk foods and I am very active.
I LOOOOOVE COFFEE but Iv been suffering from horrible anxiety and panic attacks, when down to half-caff also but had to completely stop drinking anything with caffeine. Oh how I miss it 😢
I have had an on again, off again relationship with coffee for years. I love the thought of it and the smell of it but in recent years I have found that I feel like taking a nap about an hour and a half after drinking it. I get a big let down in energy. I also get the jitters from it. Didn't used to but now I do. Since I get a headache if I don't have it, I switched to black tea with a teensy bit of sugar and a large splash of soy milk. I don't get the jitters and it provides a light sustained energy for a while. I'm loving it! I look forward to making your soup shown here. I think that I'll add potatoes like you talked about. TFS!

Awesome, you both are adorable! I got my husband to watch too. We’ve been vegan now for 1.5 years. After watching he said look at me (him) watching a cooking show and loving veggies! Who am I? He use to be a big meat eater until he saw “Game Changers.” We started with meatless Mondays then we tried 30 days and the rest is history!😜 He is just now getting back into working out again and I thought he’d enjoy it and he did! Coffee. I have broken up with coffee five times. I now must admit I process caffeine super slow. If I have even one cup a day after 3 days I cannot sleep. So now decaf and black tea. Thanks for all the great inspiration. Happy New Year.

Just recently, I was off from work for a week & took the opportunity to ween off coffee. (I’d have one mug weekday mornings with some soy milk.) It seems to have effected me the same way it did you, but I loved the taste, warmth, comfort, & boost! Back into green tea to enjoy that hot habit. Iron level will suffer a bit, but just need to up my vitamin C along with those iron rich foods. What a fun winter’s day! Show gratitude each day with or without sunshine/warmth. I was out getting cold misted on this morning wishing it was snow! Thankful your channel came into my life nearly 2 years ago. Raising my mug with you in taking control of our lives ☕️ 🍵
Just subscribed to learn more about becoming vegan! 💚 I am addicted to coffee, but I have noticed an improvement in smooth, crash-free energy since I've switched to only using dairy-free creamer and usually oat milk - less artificial ingredients and sweet enough that I don't need to add extra sugar! I don't drink coffee because I'm caffeine sensitive. I can tolerate black or green tea though, so I often have those on hand. My current fave is the black tea with vanilla caramel flavor from Bigelow. It's delish with a splash of soymilk and perfect to wake me up on these dark dreary mornings in the PNW.
I’m definitely an on and off again coffee drinker as well. Some weeks I crave it & I’ll have one daily, if not multiple times a day ☕️ then other weeks I’ll be off it and go at least 3-4 days without even feeling like one 🤷🏽♀️ Also this video made me hungry & I just ate 😂 All those recipes looked delicious 🤤 definitely gonna have to give that tofu Buddha bowl a try!

I'm so sensitive to caffeine. I get very easily hooked just by having a 6 oz cup in the morning every day for a week, then as soon as I stop I get those awful headaches. I have found that if I space it out to every other day and stop, then I don't have any issues.
That oatmeal recipe is bangin. I was doing something similar but this was much better. I also found that using natural peanut butter in the leftover liquid instead of protein powder was also very tasty.

I can also drink anytime of the day and still get a good night's sleep. I believe the difference is from all the pesticides that is sprayed on the non organic coffee beans.

My husband and I drink a half a cup of coffee with a half a cup of froth soy milk and some coconut sugar. That’s delicious and plenty of caffeine.
I have a massive issue with coffee and caffeine. My current schedule has me up around 4:30am and not in bed until 10:30-11pm sometimes even later. I'm around 10 cups of coffee per day. Sometimes I have a little bit less but then will have any energy drinks I can get my hands on. Super unhealthy, but I've tried going without it and even after I suffered through the withdrawal symptoms I found myself still beyond exhausted. I drink A LOT of water to avoid the headaches that come from so much coffee... My saving grace is my diet is super whole foods with minimal processed foods/junk foods and I am very active.

I LOOOOOVE COFFEE but Iv been suffering from horrible anxiety and panic attacks, when down to half-caff also but had to completely stop drinking anything with caffeine. Oh how I miss it 😢
I have had an on again, off again relationship with coffee for years. I love the thought of it and the smell of it but in recent years I have found that I feel like taking a nap about an hour and a half after drinking it. I get a big let down in energy. I also get the jitters from it. Didn't used to but now I do. Since I get a headache if I don't have it, I switched to black tea with a teensy bit of sugar and a large splash of soy milk. I don't get the jitters and it provides a light sustained energy for a while. I'm loving it! I look forward to making your soup shown here. I think that I'll add potatoes like you talked about. TFS!

Awesome, you both are adorable! I got my husband to watch too. We’ve been vegan now for 1.5 years. After watching he said look at me (him) watching a cooking show and loving veggies! Who am I? He use to be a big meat eater until he saw “Game Changers.” We started with meatless Mondays then we tried 30 days and the rest is history!😜 He is just now getting back into working out again and I thought he’d enjoy it and he did! Love it❣️🥰
Coffee. I have broken up with coffee five times. I now must admit I process caffeine super slow. If I have even one cup a day after 3 days I cannot sleep. So now decaf and black tea. Thanks for all the great inspiration. Happy New Year.

Just recently, I was off from work for a week & took the opportunity to ween off coffee. (I’d have one mug weekday mornings with some soy milk.) It seems to have effected me the same way it did you, but I loved the taste, warmth, comfort, & boost! Back into green tea to enjoy that hot habit. Iron level will suffer a bit, but just need to up my vitamin C along with those iron rich foods. What a fun winter’s day! Show gratitude each day with or without sunshine/warmth. I was out getting cold misted on this morning wishing it was snow! Thankful your channel came into my life nearly 2 years ago. Raising my mug with you in taking control of our lives ☕️ 🍵

Vitamin C is heat sensitive too. BTW, sauerkraut is high in Vitamin C too. Check the jar.

I made this soup for my wife and I and it’s cold outside which is perfect!! Thanks Derek, this recipe is amazing!! I will say it’s missing one thing for next time, I love spicy food, curry seasonings need a good kick I’ll add Serrano next time.

I'm really sensitive to caffeine also, so I make half coffe half Postum (mostly chickory root). It tastes very rich and mellow and no jitters.
My mom used to take vanilla & maybe a bit of sugar when I was a kid, to make snow ice cream.
I don't drink coffee because I'm caffeine sensitive. I can tolerate black or green tea though, so I often have those on hand. My current fave is the black tea with vanilla caramel flavor from Bigelow. It's delish with a splash of soymilk and perfect to wake me up on these dark dreary mornings in the PNW.

I’m definitely an on and off again coffee drinker as well. Some weeks I crave it & I’ll have one daily, if not multiple times a day ☕️ then other weeks I’ll be off it and go at least 3-4 days without even feeling like one 🤷🏽♀️ Also this video made me hungry & I just ate 😂 All those recipes looked delicious 🤤 definitely gonna have to give that tofu Buddha bowl a try!

I'm so sensitive to caffeine. I get very easily hooked just by having a 6 oz cup in the morning every day for a week, then as soon as I stop I get those awful headaches. I have found that if I space it out to every other day and stop, then I don't have any issues.
That oatmeal recipe is bangin. I was doing something similar but this was much better. I also found that using natural peanut butter in the leftover liquid instead of protein powder was also very tasty.
